Mark Wahlberg Rolls With the Punches – Literally!

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

Not much has changed for Mark Wahlberg when it comes to being the family punching bag! The youngest of nine, the actor was often at the mercy of his older brothers growing up, and now the father-of-four admits his eldest son Michael has happily taken over the tradition.

After recently taking him to see boxer Manny Pacquiao, Mark tells Jimmy Kimmel that Michael has found his new passion in life. “My son is obsessed with boxing,” he reveals. Fortunately for Michael, who turns 4 next month, dad’s role as Mickey Ward in the upcoming film The Fighter means a boxing ring in the family’s backyard. His opponent? Dad!

“As soon as we got home he wanted to go in the ring and just pound the crap out of me,” Mark says.

“He puts on the gloves, tells me to get on my hands and knees and to put my hands behind my back and he just punches me as hard as he can. Fun for him, not fun for me because literally I was like, ‘This kid is staring to hit hard man!’ I had a bit of a headache.”

While proud that his son is “learning to hit and not be hit,” which Mark calls “the name of the game,” Jimmy is quick to point out that all of the boxing lessons may mean trouble down the road on the school yard.

“We’ve actually had that call once and now he knows that it’s only play with Daddy in the ring and that’s it,” Mark explains.

Tracy Morgan Credits Sons With His 'Rescue'

Byron Purvis/AdMedia

In a new interview with The Tavis Smiley Show, Tracy Morgan attributes his sobriety to family.

Following arrests in 2005 and 2006 for DUI, the 30 Rock star was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet; His 21-year marriage to ex-wife Sabina Morgan soon came to an end and the couple’s three sons Tracy Jr., 23, Malcolm, 22, and Gitrid, 18, were left feeling “disappointed” by their dad, he says.

“I’m walking around with a bracelet on my ankle and my son [is] looking at me like I’m Kunta Kinte,” Tracy recalls. When Gitrid began to ask, “What if I started drinking and driving? Would that be cool?” Tracy knew he needed to make a change.

“That was it for me,” he insists. “That was the end of it.”

“That right there just made me look in the mirror like, I got to step up my game. So I did, and I’m glad it came from my son. I love him.”

Tracy is quick to add that it isn’t the first time Gitrid and his brothers saved their dad. “Before, I was on the street corner in Brooklyn hanging out, just hanging out,” he explains. “Then I had these kids, and they gave me responsibility and made me grow up and become a man, so again, there he was to rescue me.”

If Tracy has his way, Gitrid will soon be helping others as well. After his youngest son voiced uncertainty about what to do with his life, Tracy advised him to give back.

“I said, ‘Well, you’re 18,’” Tracy recalls. “If you really don’t know what to do with your life, go help somebody.”

Tracy’s new film Cop Out opens Feb. 26th.

Eagle Press

It’s a bird, it’s a plane it’s … Milo William Langdon!

Liv Tyler and her 5-year-old son were spotted making their way to preschool in New York City on Wednesday morning.

It’s not always so easy to get her little boy out the door, Liv notes.

“I just say, ‘We’re going to school, that’s what you do. You have to go to school,’” the actress explains. “And I told him to enjoy it now because it’s fun now. Soon he’ll have homework and it’s not so fun.”

Milo is the only child for Liv, 32, and ex-husband Royston Langdon.

Tim McGraw's Daughters Hitting the Road With Dad

Kevin Winter/Getty

Talk about a summer vacation!

Tim McGraw reveals in a new interview with the Omaha World-Herald that he will hardly be going it alone during his massive 2010 tour; The country singer says he’ll be bringing daughters Gracie Katherine, 12, Maggie Elizabeth, 11, and Audrey Caroline, 8, with him.

“My kids are excited,” he reveals. “[The shows will be] mostly weekends during school, but once school is over we’ll hit it harder.”

Keeping any disruption to the girls’ education at a minimum is a priority for Tim, however.

“Even days when the kids are in school, I won’t leave home until 4 or 5 in the afternoon and fly in and do the show and then fly home,” he notes. “It’s a lot of air time.”

“Family is right up there first — the kids’ schedule and all of the things they’re doing. After that, everything else sort of finds its place.”

Tim, 42, has a good ally in wife Faith Hill, whom he credits with being “very good at organization,” adding,

“So she has all the kids’ schedules, her schedule, her mom’s schedule, all the extracurricular activities and my schedule all lined up.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal Hopes Daughter Has a 'Laid-Back' Life

Janet Mayer/Splash News Online

There are varying levels of fame, and while actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are stars by any definition, they’re not so famous that they can afford to be especially choosy with the roles they’re offered, the Oscar-nominated Crazy Heart actress says.

“If we were Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, we could say, ‘Oh yes, I’ll make that movie, but it must be in New York and it must be filmed before midsummer break,’ but we’re not,” she notes in a new interview with the Herald Sun. “If Martin Scorsese calls and tells me I need to be in Nova Scotia for six months, then I probably need to do that.”

By extension, that means that the couple’s 3-year-old daughter Ramona is along for the ride — something which “worries” Maggie.

“We’ve traveled around a lot with Ramona and, while there are some wonderful things about that, what a young child really wants is stability and routine; she wants a sense of home. We’ve been trying to protect that and it’s one of our biggest challenges.”

Growing up with screenwriter Naomi Foner for a mom and director Stephen Gyllenhaal for a dad, Maggie was already well-versed in the entertainment industry. While Peter thinks such an upbringing must have been “amazing” Maggie says that her childhood was nothing like Ramona’s.

“I don’t think it was as intense as the life my daughter is leading, in the sense that my parents weren’t well-known,” she points out. “Yes, they made small movies, but we didn’t lead a big, glitzy, fancy life.”

“I think my daughter’s life will be more like that, although I’m trying to keep it as laid-back and calm as possible for her.”
