The-Dream Shares Baby On the Way's Name: Violet

Bill Davila/Startracks

The finish line is well within sight for expectant mama Christina Milian! So says her husband, singer-songwriter-producer The-Dream, in a new interview with MTV.

“The baby will be here Sunday, no later than Sunday.”

Not only do the couple know that their baby-on-the-way is a girl, they also know her name — Violet. Perhaps realizing that he’d given away too much information, however, The-Dream quickly clarified,

“I’m not telling you the middle name, you gon’ get me in trouble.”

One thing is clear: Violet stands to benefit handsomely from dad’s enthusiasm over her impending arrival.

“The baby already has a car, I got a house just for the baby,” he explains, before adding that Christina, 28, is about to move down a notch or two!

“Christina can’t get in the baby’s car. I’m giving all my attention that I usually give to Christina to the baby, all the flowers I usually give Christina, I’m giving them to the baby.”

WOW he really is excited about his baby Violet, hope the birth is OK, cant wait to hear the middle name.

- True on

I’d love to know the middle name. Violet is very traditional; I wonder if they will have a more quirky middle name??

- Nola on

well he better quit that before Christina gets upset when she’s postpartum! I love the name Violet but now not sure I’d use it still.

- Reader on

This is not the name I was expecting from them. For some reason, I was expecting something trendier. Violet is a beautiful name though! Can’t wait to hear the full name!

He already has a little girl named Navy, and two twin boys whose names I’m not sure of. I wonder if their names are colors also?

Violet is a very cute & sweet name…sounds great with Nash. I know all 3 of his other children have “N” names so kind of surprising this one doesn’t also.

- Lola on

damn what a LUCKY little girl!!!! i’m jealous of someone who isn’t even born yet!

- lover on

Wow – wasn’t expecting that name! Classic, not overused, and very sweet! Love it!

- daniela on

I hope he’s kidding about shifting all his attention from Christina to the baby, otherwise….wow….

I’m all about unusual monikers, but I love that they picked the traditional name of Violet for her. Glad they didn’t name her something way out there like Boingo or Mango or something.

I like the name Violet Nash. That works very well. And Violet is a pretty name with many nicknaming options. However, it’s not overused or way too out there. Anyway, I hope The Dream realizes that Christina is still going to want some attention.

- Luna on

Luna- I’m sure he was just joking. :) Anyway, it sounds like Christina has an induction or C-section scheduled (since The Dream said that Violet will be here no later than Sunday). Also, I love how he seems so happy about his baby girl already! :)

He had better start giving some attention to Christina. How bad is that? Nothing wrong with giving them both flowers etc or else someone will feel very unappreciated. Hope he’s joking…

- Tracie on

Sorry, but he sounds ignorant. Even if he’s joking. She’s carrying around his umpteenth child and he’s talking about what he’s not going to give her because he’s ‘giving it to the baby’. If he’s joking, there’s nothing funny about it. He sounds like one of those men that will try to compete with his wife for the baby, getting mad when the child just wants to be held and fed by the mom.

- J on

Violet has started to become a pretty popular name…since 2006. Dave Grohl, Jennifer Garner, and I think someone else….can’t remember. Cute!

- Mia on

J- At least we know he already loves his little girl. :)
