Denim is a staple of every toddler’s wardrobe. Stylish and versatile, it goes with everything and it’s sturdy enough for an active baby. To give parents more high-fashion options, Gap is spreading its denim magic — the relaunch of their grownup 1969 jeans collection was a huge success last year — to its baby line.

Made of snuggly-soft cotton, the new babyGap premium denim collection ($15 to $30) includes iconic shapes and styles you and your fashionable tot will love. It also features some non-denim pieces like a crisp white button-down, smocked top and onesie.

“We set out to create the softest, most comfortable and cutest denim for babies, building on the success of our 1969 Premium Denim for adults,” says Jennifer Giangualano, SVP Product Development for babyGap. “The result is a collection of must-have pieces — like jean jackets, 5-pocket jeans and overalls — that are absolutely adorable while allowing comfort and full range of movement.”

Our favorite pieces are the jean jackets for boy ($29.50, above left) and girl ($29.50) — it has adorable puff sleeves — and the super cute girl’s jumper ($29.50, above right). We also can’t stop drooling over the easy, yet chic romper ($27) and the classic (with a twist) chambray shirt ($19.50).

Check out the full collection online here. Or search for stores in your area.

wish that jumper came in toddler sizes too. I’d love that for my 3 year old.

I did buy denim for my daughter when she was about 15 months old, but I don’t think it’s the softest material for babies…..

Denim is denim. You can’t do much with it, and I don’t see what is so special about this particular line. I find the material much too rough for my daughter. Maybe once she get’s a little older she can vocalize whether or not she actually likes it.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
