Suri Cruise's Snow Day!

Humberto Carreno/Startraks

Have umbrella, will travel!

Schools may be closed — and the snow may be falling hard — but that didn’t stop Suri Cruise from hitting the streets in New York City Wednesday, sporting a matching scarf, hat and mitten set.

The 3 ½-year-old was headed to lunch at the Bowery Hotel with mom Katie Holmes.

Over the weekend, we saw Suri and family in Miami, where they attended the Super Bowl.

She is such a cutie! I bet she is loving this snow, must be bunches of fun to play in =D

- Sarah on

She looks so much like her mom in this pic.

- shirese on

What a sweetheart. It’s snowing like crazy here too. The kids have today and tomorrow off from school.

- Luna on

That child is just too precious. There is just something about Suri Cruise that makes you fall in love with her.

- Lis on

Beautifull!

- Brenda, PR on

I approve of this photo. Fashionably warm!! She looks cute!

- Electra on

electra….you approve of this photo? thank you, idk what we’d do without your approval!

- lover on

It’s nice to see her dressed appropriately for the cold weather for a change.

- MartT on

HAHAHAHAHAH @ lover.

- Luna on

so cute!! :-)

- Danielle on

Maybe it’s the Canadian in me….. but boots would be a good idea. She does look adorable though.

- Jennifer on

Agree, tights and coat are a step forward, but boots and something that is not a thin shiny partydress would be perfect.

- Sidney on

Suri is gorgeous. She looks so poised, like a little lady.

- Julia A on

Aw leave her alone! I think she is dressed adorably for the snow but who cares! She is an adorable little girl! God bless the Cruise-Holmes family!

- Lisa on

and i forgot to say i love her matching hat, gloves, and scarf! such a pretty coat by the way! She is such a little fashion model over there. With the dress and stockings! She is too cute!

- Lisa on

My daughter has a scarf just like the one Suri is wearing. She didn’t want the gloves or hat.

I love Suri’s outfit! She is absolutely adorable.

- Bancie1031 on

Wow, if it didn’t say so, I would have never known this was Suri..does not look anything like her, imo.

- cris on

coat, hat, scarf, mittens, umbrella! you people will never be happy. I doubt they were walking far. do you think they do that? her shoes look fine, they’re even flats!

- Reader on

Josh Hartnett anyone? She looks like him.

- Reader on

finally after all this year, indeed a picture with all the due acessory seems present hehe.. LOL

- lina on

I think Suri looks like Tom. I saw a picture of Tom as a child in People magazine once and he looked like Suri.

She’s a doll.

- Laura on

Yay, she’s wearing a jacket!!!!

- Mary on

She is such a blend of Tom and Katie…there are times when she is a little mini-me of Tom and other times of Katie. Gorgeous photo, she looks like such an old soul.

- Emily on

Why is everyone always criticizing the way Suri is dressed? Technically, it’s none if our business. Let’s just enjoy the photo! Her little outfit is adorable, what a cute coat! And I love her long hair – I wish my hair was that long when I was 3! A very sweet picture

- Pinkdancer on

I’m guessing recent rumors are true and that Suri is definitely dressing herself these days. Don’t see Tom OR Katie in her. Looks just like little girl next door to me :) Though to be fair, I have never been very good at telling which parent kids look like…

- brannon on

Wow, there’s nothing bad to say about this one! She’s walking, wearing a coat and gloves, no high heels, no lipstick, hair isn’t in her eyes . . . she looks like a normal, beautiful little girl.

- Brianna on

Now this is one cute picture!

- bungalowbliss on

LOL @Reader…she does look like Josh Hartnett in this picture!!
I love her umbrella…she is so adorable. Such a little fashionista.

- Amy on

Cris – I thought the same thing. She looks really different here, and I’m not even sure why. I love her whole ensemble, though!

- mrsh on

This is the first picture I’ve seen where she looks nothing like Katie. Maybe it’s her expression. Love that coat!

- Chris on

Suri looks gorgeous here–that picture looks like it was taken out of some fashion magazine or something.

She’s such a girly girl, even in that weather! :) Loving the outfit and the Disney Princess umbrella.

- LisaS on

does anyone know where i can get that umbrella???

- shafradan on

So cute! I LOVE this child. And I’m so glad we’re finally seeing her. She hasn’t been out for a while!

- Meesh on

adorable! wonder if they make that coat for adults! it’s very cute!

- marfmom on

@lover just because I said approve of how she was dressed doesn’t mean I think my opinion has any importance. It’s a mere fact. I approve of how she looks, warm and dressed appropriately for the weather. Just like everyone who says “Wow she looks so cute! she looks so pretty” is giving there approval. Or the usual “where is her coat?” people are voicing their disapproval. I really didn’t think that had to be explained. Try not to be so simple.

@shafradan

Try the disney store website, I’ve seen similar umbrellas there.

- Electra on

She is SO cute!

- T on

So cute!
Thank gosh now everyone will stop whining about how she is dressed.
For now, at least. ;)

- Abby on

Suri looks so cute!! And they just went from miami heat over the weekend to a snowy blizzard in nyc! Talk about a temperature shock! It’s still crazy here in Philly and I wouldn’t be venturing out in my flats or tights but good for Suri for keeping it fashionable :)

- JMO on

I know it’s not showing a ton of snow on the ground, but shoes with better traction seem needed to me… otherwise, I approve, too… she’s actually wearing a coat, hat and gloves!

- Kat on

That jacket is way too thin for Suri to wear in this crazy weather!! She should be wearing pants though to protect her legs more. Sorry, but it’s true! :)

- Doreen on

I try very hard not to judge but I’m going to this time. After spending the day being blown into buildings and soaked from head to toe despite a ski jacket, pants, and boots, I will criticize Suri’s parents for letting her out of the house dressed for early spring rather than a blizzard. The weather in NYC was insane today. I don’t care if this kid loves dresses or whatever her parents claim. Even for a short walk to the car, she should have at least been wearing boots and pants.

- Sarah on

These web post has the most ADORABLE photos of Suri on this day – she had TWO umbrellas to choose from – how cute!

FYI – the whole shoe issue here – there is a photo of Katie watching Suri’s foot go into a GIANT slush puddle…I’m sure Katie will be out getting Suri a pair of boots rather soon :)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1250054/Suri-Cruise-risks-frozen-toes-mum-Katie-Holmes-brave-snow-blizzard-New-York.html

- mamabear on

Complain, complain, complain. As usual, some posters are never satisfied.

She looks adorable. I agree, though, that I didn’t recognize her at first.

- Liliana on

Her mittens and scarf are REALLY cute!

- Talia on

Very sweet picture, and she’s certainly better dressed for the elements than usual! :) I still think she looks a lot like Josh Hartnett too…

- christina on

I got that umbrella for my daughter at Dollar General for $5

- hermowninny on

Aw, she looks so sweet! I really like that coat, and her Princess umbrella is really cute :) I swear, this child gets more beautiful each time I see a picture of her. She always brings a smile to my face. God bless her and her family.

- Nina on

@mamabear, Thanks for the picture link. I can’t believe she’s wearing canvas maryjanes in the snow! There are so many cute wellies or snowboots out there. Her little toes must have been so cold during her lunch.

- momof4 on

First Chris Klein now josh Hartnet. Suri looks like her parents, so jsut deal with it. It’s funny that people even think Suri’s outfits need their approval.

- QT on

Its been snowing a lot, but it hasn’t been THAT cold. I think what she’s wearing is appropriate for 36 degrees. I went out today dressed very similarly (except adult version), and was not cold. People need to relax and stop judging. Worry about your own kids. Clearly Suri is not cold, because every time we see her she looks happy and very comfortable. If it were below zero (32), then it would probably be necessary for her to wear some pants and maybe boots, but 36 really isn’t all that cold.

- Maria on

It’s fine to state your opinions…no worries! I’m hoping maybe they weren’t spending much time outdoors…just a quick trip from the apartment to the car?! Regardless she’s a gorgeous little girl with a mom who clearly loves to spend as much time as possible with her…

- Danielle on

Oh my gosh! Suri is too cute! I love her clothes. She has better style than I do. LOL

- Jane on

Post 41, she’s dressed just fine in her jacket, mittens, hat, etc. Relax.

- J on

Poster #41 Sarah, u sound so HIGH AND MIGHTY……Suri is dressed fine…worry about your own kids, and LET TOM and Katie worry about Suri…BTW this little gal is so pretty.

- True on

what does she have on her feet on a snowy day???

- mammamia on

Now Suri is dressed appropriately for the snow. I love her whole outfit; esp. the coat and the little girl shoes; not little girl high heels. She is adorable..

- Joy on

LOL @ Maria.

So 36 degrees isn’t cold but 32 is? Sorry, but they both sound pretty cold to me. The girl loves dresses and maybe she gets hot easily.

- Melissa on

LOL such a little lady with so much character. Gotta love her

- Anne on

I’m just appalled at how close the papparazzi were to her that they caught her foot hitting a puddle. (This is from the link above) If she just stayed in Manhattan she probably didn’t step in too much snow. As a New Yorker I’ve always noticed that in the expensive parts of the city, ie Manhattan, they shovel more quickly and often because of the businesses, expensive high rises, and tourists. The snow coming down was probably more determental and since she had an umbrella she seems ok. She also was getting out of a truck so how much walking did she really do? I would have put her on snow boots because the puddles don’t go away even if everything is shoveled and cleaned.

- Lena on

Melissa- Maria said “If it were below zero (32)….” So obviously she was talking about 36 degrees ABOVE zero as opposed to 32 degrees BELOW zero. That being said, I agree that Suri maybe just gets hot easily. Some people are just “hot-blooded”, myself included! :)

brannon- They aren’t just rumors. Katie herself recently confirmed that Suri picks out her own clothes! :) And speaking of which, as far as her not wearing boots is concerned, I actually see nothing wrong with it. I don’t usually wear boots myself when I’m running errands and such in winter. Generally I only wear my boots when I’m taking my dog outside, since that requires walking through my snow-covered yard (as opposed to walking on pavement like sidewalks or parking lots).

Otherwise, I find my tennis shoes to work just fine! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

This picture is great and Suri is a lovely little lady!

- Eleonora on

Her feet must have been pretty cold after stepping in that slush puddle. I know my 9yo mentions cold feet when wearing her snow boots after she’s played in too many slush puddles. (Snow boots are great for snow but don’t hold out water from deep puddles).

- Lorus on

She is adorable(and so stylish!).

- Lissette on

My first thought was that she looks like a little angel; an adorable little cherub!

- freedomgrl77 on

I see nothing at all wrong with how she’s dressed! I never wear boots out either when it snows, unless I am specifically going out to play in it. Otherwise I wear tennis shoes or my nice (GASP) flats to work! We all know Suri does have boots, since she’s had pics taken in them. Maybe she just didnt want to wear them, nothing wrong with that. Suri looks beautiful, and I doubt they were going sledding or something like that, so I think her outfit is completely appropriate.

You know, people just can’t let it go with her. They whine and complain and moan and groan about Suri never wearing a coat, and then when we actually see her in not only a coat, but a hat, scarf, and gloves, they still find something to b**** about!!! I think there are people here who just really hate the Cruises and would criticize them even if they had her in a full snowsuit, boots, and all the necessary accessories. They have something to say about the color or the pattern. Really need to find something else to do with your time, folks than sit around looking for ways to knock a 3 year old.

- Shannon on

I love how proud she looks with her little umbrella!

- Mary-Helen on

I feel very sorry for this little girl. It is obvious from most of the shots taken of her that she hates the camera flashes. During the day she seems to do much better. The constant attention of the paparazzi can’t be good for her. Personally, I like that they allow her to express herself by picking out her own clothes. For some crazy reason I didn’t let my daughter do that and I regret it….though I suspect that my D would have ended up in a bathing suit even in winter.

- Ellen on

I would assume that Katie and Suri were out for a short walk from the car to a store and that’s why they weren’t bundled up anymore than they are. I know that I don’t make my almost-3 daughter put on ALL of her gear just to go in and out of a store. She’ll wear her jacket and carry her umbrella. I get sick of carrying all of her extra layers once we’re in a store because stores are always too warm to wear your gear. It’s easier, and I don’t see a problem with it.

As for the shoes, I’m sure Suri learned the hard way that wearing canvas shoes in the slush isn’t a good idea. I have a very stubborn daughter who would’ve done the same thing, and she would’ve learned that slush + canvas = wet, cold, stinky feet. Some kids just have to learn their lessons that way, and it’s a wise parent who picks and chooses their battles carefully. On some issues, I do not relent; on others I let my daughter learn for herself that she needs to trust my judgment. One sopping wet foot experience isn’t going to give the child pneumonia (not that you get pneumonia that way in the first place…).

- Amanda on

Don’t like to be negative but I must say in the link someone posted there are more pics and you can see that Katie IS wearing boots and her daughter is sloshing through slush puddles in ballet slippers. Also the little girl’s dress is sleeveless. If they do let her pick out her own clothes that’s great but it is the parents job to decide when it is appropriate to wear them. That being said, Suri is a cutie, every little girl should be so lucky to have such doting parents.

- Amy on

when Suri is older she will google herself and see all these crazy posts about her clothing and be so mad at her parents. like why in the world would you let me be critized all the time and still let me pick out sundresses for cold weather?? lol, this poor little girl. so cute and so followed and so picked on.
btw, the Josh Hartnett thing is not new. Just saying.

- Reader on

After going to the daily mail link, I agree that she is NOT dressed well at all.

- Amy on

@Amanda ITA! My 3 year old daughter refused to wear her mitts or hat and I fought until one day I said “fine. But you’ll be cold”. We went out, she got cold & now she wears em. My 8 year old learned the same lesson with sneakers in the snow when she was this age. I’m guessing Katie has had to do the same with Suri.

@Reader I doubt Suri will be too sad when she’s old enough to read this. If anything, she will likely say to her parents: “hey mom & dad, when I was a kid, there were TONNES of people with nothing better to do than nitpick my dresses! Hahaha! That’s so silly!”

- Mary-Helen on

Reader, as Mary-Helen mentioned, if Suri ever finds these posts one day, she’ll probably laugh at all those who criticize her. I know my first reaction wouldn’t be to blame my parents but, instead, ask why the heck my attire matters to someone else.

It’s not as if Tom and Katie are looking for parenting advice from anyone on here. I know I wouldn’t change my parenting style just because someone else thought it was inappropriate.

- Liliana on

hmm I was fine with this photo until I clicked the link. Yes she is sloshing around in a puddle! And that has to be cold! But in their defense they’re LA people not NY people so people who don’t normally live in locations with snow don’t normally know how to properly dress! And yesterday it was FREEZING and the wind blowing made it feel like it was in the low teens. Suri is wearing a sun dress and a very light weight jacket. But like others said it looks like she’s going into a car so perhaps it wasn’t a far walk. And maybe after yesterday Katie learned that boots may be best (we’ve seen Suri in her rain boots so we know she owns them)…I just think this is a child who runs the household and won’t take direction from anyone including her parents!!

and the bright red lipstick is a bit much although I can’t help but think she’s still an awfully cute child with a giant personality!

- JMO on

JMO- I am not agreeing or disagreeing but even if Katie and Tom now live in LA neither one are from LA. They know what cold weather feels like.

- shirese on

I am from Florida so I can’t always comprehend what it is like when it snows but recently we had really cold weather and I was wearing leggings, two tanks, a coat and boots and I was still freezing. I am surprised that little girls feet aren’t cold. I think she looks cute but boots would have been really cute with that outfit.
I am sure they were in and out of stores and cars so I am sure she wasn’t freezing. She looks pretty content in all the pics.

- Bren on

BEAUTIFUL little girl indeed!!!!!!

And for those who are bashing her about her clothing, do you really think it’s appropriate to criticize a 3 year old?! Really?

- Rayan on

As a mother of 2, I know how it is to fight toddlers about their attire. They have minds of their own and some things just aren’t worth stressing over. She looks very adorable. Be happy they got her to wear a hat. How many little ones do you know will wear a hat?
On the whole boot issue- Does it really matter? I myself don’t even own a pair of snow boots and I live in Ohio. My daughter decided to wear boots to school on a gym day one time (they dont let them change shoes during the day) and it took her down from an A+ to a B+. Her choice her grade.

- Chasidy on

Suri is so cute! She is probably enjoying having a snow day so she can go to lunch with Mom.

- Laurel on

She looks like her Dad and everything she is wearing clashes! Oh well, get some fashion hits, you get some fashion misses.

- moose on

Oh.My.God. Seriously. Some people on here are freaking out of their minds!
So lets just clear up a few things: Suri is wearing a pair of fairly thick soled shoes that do have canvas uppers, but have a good tread on them, therefore are perfectly suitable shoes for walking from their doorway to the kerb where their car picked them up.
Suri is wearing a fairly thick coat, hat, mittens and leggins, also all appropriate for walking from their doorway to the kerb where their car picked them up.
I thought these pictures were just delightful and i was beginning to see the light and have hope that the comments would be positive for once, but no, pretty much everyone had to make it known they think she isnt dressed properly. If you really think katie and tom are neglecting their child this badly call child services and shut up about it.
i think Suri i just beautiful :)

- steph on

Suri looks adorable. If I had a daughter, I would probably dress her the same away.
I am glad that the little girl doesn’t have on those awful heels.

- mochababe73 on

It would just be nice to just once see her play with other children her own age. They probably do it in their house but there are only pictures of her with her parents and no other kids.

- Kate on

Kate, it doesn’t seem like she does. They make a dance class for just her etc. I have wondered that too.

- Reader on

Come on now, if you have kids , You are aware how
they like to pick their own clothes. I think she did
a great job, this is one of the cutiest kids I have seen
in a while.

- Texas on

Yes Texas…kids do like to pick out their own clothes. If it were up to my 4 yr old she’d be in skimpy dresses and heels all day, every day. I let her express herself with her clothes AS LONG as it works with the weather. If it doesn’t I step in and we come up with something else that works…we do it together and she ends up happy. Bottom line is that I’m the parent and ultimately it’s up to ME whether or not she wears something. That’s the role of a parent! I see why people do criticize this family when it comes to that. We just keep seeing it in photos!

That being said…I’m actually ok with this outfit…she’s clearly not spending an excessive amount of time outside and she does have what appear to be warm tights on…a somewhat warm jacket and a hat, scarf and mittens. Boots…they’d be nice, but really they’re not necessary since she’s just seems to be outdoors for a few minutes. I think her stepping in the puddle was simply a misstep on her part and could happen to anyways. This child is a really gorgeous child who’s fortunate to have a mom who enjoys spending so much time with her!

- Danielle on

Kate- To be fair, we don’t see too many other celeb kids playing with other kids, either.

- CelebBabyLover on

Sarah,i totally agree! I live in Melbourne Australia, where it gets absolutely freezing & if this little girl was walking in the street like this everyone would be saying something in disbelief! Looking cute is one thing, parents being neglectful & letting a THREE year old dictate to you when you are supposed to TEND to their needs is another. In this country, thats called neglect.I just converted your fahrenheit (we use celsius here) & it was approx TWO degrees! People here would try & avoid even going out with their toddler unless they had to at that temp.I agree though:its an improvement from the lipstick & heels…thats just a joke.A few ppl have commented she looks different here? I wonder why-she looks pale & FROZEN!

- twilight on

& it’s NOT criticizing the gorgeous, innocent TODDLER,it’s criticizing the parents, who if they weren’t celebs, half the people here would be saying the same thing.

- twilight on

Suri is just perfect! What a doll!

- m-dot on

she looks sooo cute! i think suri’s lifestyle and how shes being raised is blowed way to out of porportion. I mean from what she wears, to what religion shes being raised in, sure she doesn’t have your “average” childhood with designer clothes, drivers, and a little to much media attention for a 3 year old, but i think we should all assume her parents are trying their best (even though some if the things that we are told they do is questionable) and not make such a big deal of the fact she’s not wearing rain boots and stepped in a puddle.

- nicollle on

Aw. She looks adorable here! I love her little scarf & gloves!

- Brooklyn on

So now it’s become like a habit to argue about whatever Suri is wearing huh? How come you guys don’t do that for every celeb kid around here?

- Bugs on

twilight- I can’t speak for everyone on here, obviously, but I personally am not saying I’m fine with her outfit just because of who her parents are. If she was just a “regular” kid with “regular” parents, and I happened to see her walking down the street in this outfit, I wouldn’t bat an eye.

I’d maybe wonder briefly if she was on her way to a birthday party or something, but other than that, I wouldn’t question her outfit at all. I mean, she has a coat, hat, scarf, and mittens on, and her legs are covered with tights. I don’t really see anything weather innaproprite about that, especially if she was indeed only outside for a few minutes.

The main thing is that she looks really happy in some of the photos, and that’s really all that matters! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

@hermowninny did you get that umbrella recently at dollar general… I would love to get that one for our little one.

- shafradan on

Aw she looks so cute in her little gloves and scarves.

- Luisa on

What a cutie she is! Such a sweet little face!

- BornFabulousBoutique on

people – she was NOT HAPPY AND COMFORTABLE… she is not naturally HOTBLOODED..

read the link above and you will see that they all had to head home early because they were GASP… too cold and wet!!! how amazing. too bad no-one has invented warm dry things to cover your feet in snowy weather… they could call them… let me see… boots?

- katie on

Would someone please put some proper and appropriate shoes on that kid?!

- Emma on

I think she looks adorable. My oldest daughter is Suri’s age, so I love to check out what she’s wearing…but then go shopping at stores in my price range!

- Kate on

So Cute!
