Peter Krause: Fatherhood Helped Me Understand My Own Parents

Juan Rico/Fame

Nothing puts a parental relationship in perspective like becoming a parent yourself. That’s the lesson Peter Krause says he learned after welcoming son Roman, 8.

“Certainly, having my own child and recognizing this movable place on the human continuum by becoming not only a son but also a father, linking those things up and understanding better the challenges that my mother and father made.”

Noting that his own mom and dad — the latter of whom he was at one point estranged from — raised children without making “nearly the living” that Peter does now, Peter says that he parents Roman differently as a result.

“They were struggling but were also very happy,” he explains. “We didn’t have to have clothes that fit perfectly or the best food to be happy.”

“This might sound canned, but what we needed most was to be together … No matter what happens, we have each other, we’re together and we’re a family. That’s been incredibly powerful in my life.”

Roman is Peter’s son with ex-girlfriend Christine King.

His new series Parenthood debuts Mar. 2nd on NBC.

Juicy Couture Kids Goes Graphic for Spring!

Courtesy of Juicy Couture Kids

You’ll find more than mini velour sweats at Juicy Couture for Kids. This season, they’ve brought their fun trendy touch —think eye-catching, Brit-cool prints like crowns and lion crests and girlie details like ruffles and bows — to everything from onesies and baby blankets to print dresses and tailored shorts.

For bigger girls, we love the cotton/modal Heart Plate dress ($88). With its gathered neckline, bubble skirt and whimsical pattern, it works well for school or a dinner out with mom and dad. The set of three bodysuits for boys ($68, above left) makes an adorable baby shower gift, especially when paired with the super cuddly Lion blanket ($98).

Spotted: Ever Anderson's Point of Interest

Flynet

Look, over there!

While at Coldwater Canyon Park on Feb. 22nd, Ever Gabo Anderson took a break from her play to point out something that caught her eye to mom Milla Jovovich.

It was an afternoon of swings, slides — and even a bicycle ride for the 2-year-old — before the mother-daughter duo called it a day and headed home to dad Paul W.S. Anderson.

Spending one-on-one time with Ever will better their relationship in the future, Milla recently noted.

“You’ve got to know your kids like the back of your hand and make sure they’re honest with you and not scared to tell you things,” she explains.

Belle Pictures/Ramey

She’s off to see the wizard!

Well, not quite, but Frannie was certainly wearing the right footwear to ‘follow the yellow brick road’ while hanging with dad, actor Jason Bateman, at The Lumberyard in Malibu on Feb. 20.

The adorable 3-year-old wore a cute grey and white checked tunic and grey leggings paired with super sparkly red ballet flats. And boy, do they pop!

After a quick search, we discovered her shoes are Circo‘s Adelaide Glitter Ballet Shoes.

And at only $13, not only are these fab ruby slippers fit for a princess, they’re totally affordable!

Jeri Ryan on Keeping Kids Out of the Public Eye

Elizabeth Messina for PEOPLE for use on CBB

With a career that has spanned two decades, Jeri Ryan has weathered  her fair share of Hollywood’s highs and lows. Sometimes, she notes in a new interview with SheKnows, those lows have been a blessing in disguise, however.

When her former show Shark was canceled, its viewers were vocal in their disappointment — but Jeri, 41, says she felt anything but. “I was home on maternity leave, so my mind was in a very, very different place,” she explains.

“I was really quite fine with it — that one did not hurt. At that point, I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to go back to work.”

Fans hoping for Jeri to elaborate will only be in for more disappointment. The mom-of-two says that keeping her private life private remains a priority.

“There are some movie stars who are so massive that, no matter what they do, the paparazzi will follow them,” she notes. “But, for the most part, people who are followed by the tabloids have cultivated that.”

“That’s not anything I have ever been interested in — certainly not for my family. I chose this career; my kids didn’t.”

Jeri is mom to Gisele Lynn, 23 months, with husband Christophe Émé, and Alex, 15, from a previous marriage.

Keith Urban Has Yet to Pen a Song for Sunday

Flynet

He has sung songs about love and heartbreak, living life and finding happiness, but country crooner Keith Urban has kept one little lady out of his lyrics: daughter Sunday Rose, 19 months.

“Sunday hasn’t appeared in a literal way in a song just yet,” he tells The Boot.

Still, while it is impossible to pinpoint a song written specifically for his baby girl, Keith admits fatherhood in general has served as an inspiration for his music. “Certainly becoming a father deepens everything in my life, and that’s apparent in the songs,” the first-time dad says.

Although his wife Nicole Kidman has made it very clear that the couple’s daughter is a little “Keithette,” Keith is quick to point out that Sunday is “a great mix of the two of us.” However, according to him, seeing both of themselves in their toddler is no big surprise.

“Nic and I are very similar in a lot of ways anyway,” Keith notes. “She has this incredible determination and focus. That was inevitable that she’d get that!”

And while she may be taking after her parents’ personalities, Sunday is quickly becoming a southern belle! With he and Nicole both natives of Australia, but having settled in Nashville, Tennessee, Keith laughs,

“I always joke that when she starts talking she’s going to say, ‘G’day, y’all!’”
