Tim Allen Confesses His Future Diaper Dilemma

Fame

Not your average dad! During a humorous appearance on the Today show last week, Tim Allen admitted as much when prompted to discuss the obvious age gap between his daughters Katherine, 20, and Elizabeth, 9 months.

“I’m kind of a grandpa mixed with a dad,” the actor and comedian, 56, laughs. “I don’t get upset.”

And if Tim were ever to temporarily forget his decision to dive back into changing diapers at his age, the actor admits that his seven brothers have no qualms about providing him with a reminder or two!

“My brothers do this weird math with me all the time,” he shares. “‘Boy, when that girl is uh…’ I got it! I got it!”

In fact, confesses Tim, he often imagines what awaits the father-daughter duo down the road. “I think of when she’s 16. My dream is that she’ll be going, ‘Dad? DAD! Do you want me to roll you over by the window so you can watch me play?’” he jokes.

“She’ll be changing my diapers, you know, what goes around comes around. ‘I gotta go kids, I gotta change my dad’s diapers, he had a big meal.’”

Katherine is Tim’s daughter from a previous relationship while Elizabeth is his first child with wife Jane.

Review: Reusable Organic Cotton Tissues

Courtesy of Better for Grownups

Reusable tissues might make you turn up your nose (pun intended), but they’re more hygienic than you think. Check out the organic cotton tissues ($35 per box of 12) by Better for Grownups (the company behind Better for Babies). They’re plush and easy-to-clean.

Made of super-soft cotton sateen, the tissues are as strong as a cloth but light to the touch — not like Grandpa’s scratchy pocket handkerchiefs. Plus, they’re simple to use. Just pull them up out of the reloadable box and when you’re done, tuck them back inside the handy storage compartment until you’re ready to wash them.

Kids will love the novelty. Parents will love the practicality. Eco couldn’t be easier.

Iman and Lexi's School Run

893/Splash News Online

Model mama Iman may only be making a school run, but she manages to look chic nonetheless!

The 54-year-old was spotted picking up Alexandria ‘Lexi’ Zahra, 9 — her daughter with husband David Bowie — from class on Thursday in New York City.

Iman recently joked,

“This one thinks she has it tough because both her old parents are at home with her all the time. When Lexi was about four, she first saw a picture of David as Ziggy Stardust. ‘Why is his hair orange?’ she wanted to know. The makeup didn’t faze her.”

Mini Must-Have: Sasha Obama’s Slouchy Boots!

Credit: Dennis Brack /Landov

On Jan. 4, Sasha Obama — along with the rest of the first family — was all smiles upon returning to the White House from her recent holiday trip to Hawaii.

The stylish tween, 8, traded in her vacation duds for a chic cold-weather ensemble including knit hat, wool coat, floral dress, tights, heart print bag and suede boots for the ride home.

We love the look, especially her Steve Madden Kids “Sha” boots ($79, below). The slouchy style and neutral color make them the perfect winter shoe.

Teri Hatcher On What Pushed Her to Cross the Triathlon Finish Line

Bauer Griffin

She may have trained long and hard for her first triathlon, but what eventually got Teri Hatcher across the finish line was motherhood.

Finishing the race at a respectable two hours and eleven minutes, the Desperate Housewives actress tells Good Morning America that she actually surprised herself. “I didn’t care about the time,” she admits.

“My goal was to do the half-mile ocean swim, to do the bike, to do the run and not stop and not have to go to the bathroom.”

The same couldn’t be said for her daughter Emerson Rose, 12, however! “She was like, ‘Mom, win!’” she says with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Really? I wasn’t even thinking of winning!’”

And while she may consider being “more competitive” next year, the experience taught Teri a lesson far more important than winning. “I think what I realized — and my hat is always off to moms, I think there’s nothing harder than for women to juggle all the things we do: working, wives, motherhood, we kind of do it all — as I was training for the triathlon is the biggest thing is the psychology in it all,” she muses.

Likening the race to motherhood, Teri elaborates,

“The drive of it, I’m not going to stop, I’m just going to get up and keep going is the same as a mom. I’m tired this morning, but I still got to drive to school and I still got to make the lunches. It’s that same things that moms have and I really noticed that mental comparison and I think that’s what got me across the finish line.”

Emerson is Teri’s only child with ex-husband Jon Tenney.

Amy Grant and Vince Gill Say Daughter 'Provided a Sense of Glue'

Courtesy Good Housekeeping

In the February issue of Good Housekeeping magazine, singers Amy Grant and Vince Gill open up about life as a blended family of seven.

Both entered their 2000 nuptials as parents — Amy to Matthew, 22, Millie, 20 and Sarah, 17; Vince to Jennifer, 27 — but it is their only child together, 8 ½-year-old Corinna, that has united the extended brood.

“[Corinna's birth was] a great blessing for us,” Vince says.

“All of a sudden, we all had something in common. And we didn’t know it at the time, but it really provided a sense of glue.”

The timing of their union raised eyebrows, especially amongst Amy’s Christian fan base, but the 49-year-old songstress says she had bigger priorities.

“I don’t mean this in a flippant way, but I was so unconcerned by what somebody who I would never meet wrote in a rag,” she explains. “I felt like I had flipped a car over three medians and I was trying to figure out if my children — if we all — still had a pulse.”

And while Matthew, Millie, Sarah and Jennifer were all breathing, it couldn’t be said that they were doing well, either. “There have been a lot of hands-down, pivotal turning points, with a lot of words and tons of emotions,” Amy admits before adding,

“It was a long haul to feel like a family again. The parents have made a choice, but none of the kids have made the choice. And wherever it’s going to wind up, you’re not going to get there quickly. You just have to give people their space.”

Similarly, the couple make it a point to acknowledge the importance of their respective pasts. “The one thing we never tried to do is to say that life began for us the moment that we said ‘I do,’” Amy reveals. “A whole lot of life had gone before that, and it was worth, in time, integrating in a healthy way.”
