Rhys Darby Welcomes Son Theo

Richard Young/Startraks

Although HBO’s Flight of the Conchords was recently canceled, it continues to produce — babies!

Rhys Darby, who played band manager Murray Hewitt on the show, welcomed son Theo shortly before Christmas. He is the second child for Rhys, 35, and wife Rosie Carnahan Darby, who are already parents to 4-year-old Finn.

In a tweet last week, Rosie wrote,

“The life of a 2 week old baby: boob, snooze, sh-t, and repeat … indefinitely, till mum begins to lose mind … and repeat…”

Rhys’ former castmates Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are by now well-versed in that routine; Bret welcomed daughter Vita late last summer, while Jemaine became a first-time father in 2008, to son Sophocles Iraia.

Layla Kayleigh’s Blog: Daddy’s Little Twin!

America’s Best Dance Crew co-host Layla Kayleigh is letting CBB readers follow along as she tackles first-time motherhood — daughter Melody Rain is now 10 weeks old. If you missed her prior entries, click here and here to read!

Daddy’s Little Twin

Before Melody was born, everyone kept guessing who she would look like. Steve and I both have a pretty distinct look, and between both of our diverse backgrounds, we figured Melody would be like the United Nations!

When I was expecting, my number one priority was to have a healthy pregnancy and give my baby everything she needed nutritionally, especially because this was my first pregnancy. The last thing on my mind was what the baby would look like.

Even though I was eating a lot and giving my body healthy foods, I was wondering how big she would get because when Steve was born he was almost 10 lbs! *Yikes* I would be lying if I said the thought of a ten pounder didn’t frighten me just a little — but I should add that it didn’t stop me from eating everything in sight like a vacuum…

From the get-go, she was measuring very big and it wasn’t slowing down. I was only about 6 lbs. when I was born, and she was already around 6+ lbs. by month seven! I should’ve known then, that was a clue that she was going to take after her daddy.

They are now practically twins! When he’s holding her and I look over it’s almost scary how much she resembles him. I tell my friends and family, “She’s his spitting image!” They feel like they have to console me or something with, “Don’t worry, she’ll look more like you when she’s older” — as if I’m upset! It’s too funny, because it doesn’t bother me at all that my daughter looks like her awesome father, the man I love.

Here’s a picture of Melody that I took this week, and one of Steven when he was 7 months old. The science of genetics is truly incredible.

Let me know if you think they look alike or if it’s just my imagination! ;)

Til next time, thanks for your lovely comments and support.

Sending much love to you and yours,

Joey Fatone Welcomes Daughter Kloey Alexandra

Arlene Richie/JPI

It’s a second daughter for Joey Fatone and wife Kelly, the ‘NSYNC singer tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Kloey Alexandra Fatone arrived Monday evening, Jan. 11th in Orlando, Fla., weighing in at 5 lbs., 8 oz. She joins big sister Briahna Joely, 8 ½.

“Kloey’s so small,” notes the Dancing With the Stars alum. “She looks like a little doll. But she’s healthy and doing just fine.”

Not that it was an easy pregnancy. Shortly after learning that she was expecting, Kelly began fighting chronic fatigue. “She was so tired, just exhausted all the time,” Joey says of his wife of five years. “We took her to the doctors, and they found blood clots in her lungs. It was life and death.”

After a 12-day stay in the hospital — including two days in the ICU — doctors diagnosed Kelly with a rare genetic condition called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase.

In addition to threatening the mother’s life, MTHFR increases the chances of the baby being born with chromosomal defects such as Down syndrome.

Joey, 32, says his wife took it easy throughout the pregnancy, but started experiencing a rapid heartbeat and fainting spells last week. Concerned for her health, doctors decided to induce Kelly’s labor two weeks before her due date.

After an intense delivery, everyone is now able to relax. “The blood clots have broken up, Kelly’s doing fine and Kloey is awesome,” the proud papa tells PEOPLE.

Joey says the name Kloey comes from a combination of his and Kelly’s names. As for the middle name, Alexandra? It was selected by Briahna for her new baby sister.

“I’m thrilled,” Joey says. “I’m just so happy that everyone’s healthy.”

Rebecca Romijn Unveils New Milk Ad Featuring Twin Daughters

When Rebecca Romijn signed on to appear in an advertisement for Got Milk?, she did so with full knowledge that she would likely be upstaged. The model/actress’ 1-year-old twin daughters Charlie Tamara Tulip (l) and Dolly Rebecca Rose (r) were photographed alongside Mom, who says she couldn’t have been more wrong about how they would handle the shoot.

While Charlie is usually “the shy one” and Dolly is “the ham,” the girls experienced quite a role reversal once the cameras started rolling. “I thought that Dolly was going to be all over it,” Rebecca, 37, says. “I thought she was going to be loving it [but] Charlie was loving it — loving the lights, loving everyone standing around looking at her.”

Dolly, by contrast, was unimpressed — and more than willing to make her feelings known! “It was challenging,” Rebecca admits, recalling that the last Got Milk? ad she appeared in was shot in 1998 in Times Square during a tropical storm at rush hour. “I thought that was chaotic … Well, guess what? Shooting with 9-month-old twins when one of them is not havin’ it all day long [is worse].”

Pointing to the finished product, Rebecca adds,

“I think this is one of maybe three frames where Dolly wasn’t screaming her head off … I was like, ‘I’ll take [the 1998] madness over this madness.’ Jerry [O'Connell] was probably doing cartwheels behind the photographer trying to get them to calm down.”

Jean Smart Says Adoption 'Took a Lot Longer' Than Expected

Dr. Billy Ingram/WireImage

Life might be a “big joy fest” for Jean Smart and family now, but the source of their joy — newly adopted 18-month-old daughter Bonnie Kathleen — was a long time in coming.

Speaking to Celebrity Baby Blog at last Wednesday’s Hollywood premiere of Youth in Revolt, the actress revealed that she and husband Richard Gilliland have been discussing adoption for “over ten years.” She explains,

“When we finally started the process, it actually took a lot longer than we expected. We thought my son [Connor] was going to be about 15 when we got the baby and he’s just turned 20.”

Fortunately, baby girl has proven to be worth the wait. “[Bonnie] is the smartest, funniest, most darling gift,” Jean raves. “And she sleeps all night!”

“She just started walking … at Christmas. She’s quite tickled with herself. She’s been saying ‘daddy’ a lot. I don’t get ‘mama’ very much yet. But daddy is just like, ‘Daddy!’”

Named after Jean’s sister-in-law and mom, respectively, Bonnie has fans everywhere! “My son is smitten with her, my husband is absolutely besotted with her,” Jean, 58, notes. “[Even] she and the dog love each other.”

There were anxious moments while they were waiting to be matched with a child, however. “The day we got the big envelope with the picture was very exciting and very nerve-wracking,” she says. “Then you have 24 hours or something to say yes or no.”

Jean, Richard and Connor huddled together on the front porch, to open the envelope together as a family. “[We] said, ‘Okay, here it goes!’” she recalls. “And we went, ‘Oh my God! She’s so beautiful!’”

Six weeks later, they made the trip to China and eight weeks later Bonnie came home — although she didn’t stay home for long! Jean says that baby girl has been to Seattle to visit with Jean’s family, as well as to Texas at Thanksgiving.

“The poor little thing has traveled a lot since we got her, and she’s a trooper. She just loves traveling. She adapts to everything, big crowds. She’d be fine right here [at the premiere]. She’d be absolutely fine.”
