Chris O'Donnell: Baby No. 5 the Result of a 'Little Miscommunication'

Stephen Shugerman/Getty

When Chris O’Donnell used to picture fatherhood, he did so imagining himself surrounded by five children, but when he and his wife Caroline Fentress welcomed their fourth child, son Finley, now 3 ½, the actor was willing to compromise.

“I always wanted five children, but when we got four, I was like, okay, we’re done,” he tells Michigan Avenue Magazine.

However, less than a year later, Chris’ dream was fulfilled: the couple were shocked to discover they were expecting a fifth baby. “Five was the only time we were really surprised,” he admits.

“All along the way we were strategic about what we were doing and then, uh, a little miscommunication there.”

That said, the proud papa raves that the family’s latest addition has simply stole his heart. “We’ve got five and we couldn’t be happier because Maeve [Frances, 2] is such a cute little girl,” he says.

Chris and Caroline are also parents to daughter Lily Anne, 10, and sons Christopher ‘Chip’ Eugene, 9, and Charles McHugh, 6 ½.

Chris’ show, NCIS: Los Angeles, airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Amber Valletta Explains No-TV Stance

APEGA/E.G/Abaca

There are clearly perks to having a mom in show business, but none bigger than a trip to the movie theater for Amber Valletta‘s son Auden, 9.

Currently appearing in The Spy Next Door — costarring Jackie Chan — Amber noted during a recent appearance on The Bonnie Hunt Show that “this [film] he can actually see, because it’s PG.”

For Auden, it is rare a treat indeed! There is no television in the home Amber, 35, shares with husband Christian ‘Chip’ McCaw, because the couple don’t want their son growing up addicted to the small screen.

“Also, because its so nice and quiet in our house, and I just love it,” she explains. “Besides the three dogs and my son, it’s just really peaceful.”

“We do DVDs and we go to the theater and we go to movies. He knows what’s going on in the world, pretty much. He thinks I’m a bit strict, but he knows what’s going on.”

The Spy Next Door is in theaters now.

Freddie Prinze Jr.: No Schoolyard Smooches For Charlotte

Claire Greenway/Getty

It was karma at its best when Freddie Prinze Jr. welcomed his first child — daughter Charlotte Grace, now 4 months — with wife Sarah Michelle!

Always one to chase the girls on the playground, Freddie recalls his antics left his own mother warning her son of future fatherhood.

“When I was in the second grade, there was this girl that I really liked and every day at recess we would play ‘boys chase girls,’” he reveals during a recent appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly.

“There was this girl — I liked her so much. I ran after her, caught her, went in for the smooch and she cheeked me — she turned the cheek so I didn’t get the kiss!” he laughs. However, not one to admit defeat, Freddie took matters in his own hands.

“I had these Sesame Street shoe laces. I took them out, tackled her and I tied her up and I smooched her right on the lips.”

After being sent home from school, Freddie’s mom forewent a punishment and, instead, dished out a bit of advice to her young son. “I said, ‘[Mom], are you mad at me?’ And she said, ‘No, I’m not mad at you, but you’re going to have a little girl,’” he recalls.

And despite her predictions being correct, Freddie insists history will not be repeating itself with Charlotte! “Second grader is gonna get knocked out!” the protective papa jokes.

Calling fatherhood “the best” and sharing that the addition of baby “straightens everything out in your life,” Freddie freely admits Charlotte resembles both parents, depending on the situation!

“Certain expressions she makes look just like mine — those are on the dumber side — and when she’s contemplative and thoughtful she looks like Sarah.”

Bebe Chic Debuts New Collection of Stroller Liners

Courtesy of Bebe Chic

Bebe Chic — a company known for its luxe line of children’s bedding — has recently launched a new collection of stroller liners ($76 each).

Eye-catching and chock full of pretty prints, they’re making their big-screen debut in Kate Hudson‘s upcoming movie, Earthbound.

You might be wondering: Why does my stroller need another accessory? We thought the same thing when we heard about this new product, but after trying one out, we’re hooked.

Compatible with most 5-point harness strollers, it’s easy to slip on and off.

Plus, each liner is reversible with one side featuring a bold, beautiful pattern while the other side sports a bright solid or complementary print so you get double the style option.

Best of all, it gives your hard-working baby buggy a colorful, much-needed lift — without the price tag of upgrading to a new stroller.

Amy Adams Views Impending Motherhood 'As an Adventure'

Jason Merritt/Getty

The new year will bring with it some much-needed downtime for first-time expectant mom Amy Adams. Although she’s been making the media rounds to promote her new film Leap Year, the 35-year-old actress says that “work” will have a decidedly different look in 2010.

“I’m having a baby, so I’m hoping that is accomplished successfully,” she quips before adding,

“I’m trying to work on my relationships. I’ve been gone so long. I’ve had relationships that have been really great and supportive, but I need to learn how to keep in touch with people better, and it will be nice to have the time to focus on other people, instead of just myself and my career.”

How she’ll manage that career with the demands of new motherhood remains to be seen, and Amy admits it’s something she’s already begun to contemplate.

“I think any woman that intends on having a career and a family, simultaneously, thinks about the challenge of balancing that, and also balancing that with the relationship and keeping that going well,” she opines.

“It’s definitely something that’s on my mind. I’m really lucky that I have a great support team around me. I just look at it as an adventure and try not to plan too far ahead. I just do what I think is best, in the moment. It’s all new to me.”

Amy’s baby-on-the-way with fiancé Darren Le Gallo is due this spring. Leap Year is in theaters now.
