Masala Baby: India-Inspired Clothing with a Modern Flair!

Courtesy of Masala Baby

Looking to spice up your child’s wardrobe? Check out new Brooklyn-based children’s wear company, Masala Baby.

Equal parts New York City and New Delhi, their India-inspired designs (kurtas, layered folk skirts, etc.) are sure to add a bright and adorable touch to any kid’s wardrobe.

Perfect for lazy days at home or a trip to the playground, the breezy “fun-damentals” line ($24 – $36) is made of soft cotton in rich hues of chocolate brown, orange and yellow.

For more dressier occasions, check out the “free spirit” collection. It features stylish hand-woven cotton separates trimmed in silk or embroidered with beautiful designs.

Our faves include the Raani Medallion ($48) — a comfy tunic dress featuring “Kolam” sandpainting art — and the White Peacock ($38) tunic.

Most styles range in size from 6 months to 4 years.

Cute idea but if you happen to know someone from India who visits there, have them bring back goodies that are much cheaper! When my kids and I went to visit DH’s family, we were able to have shalwaar kameezes stitched for a great price and when we went shopping, we got the kids adorable clothes for Target/Wal-Mart prices. Why pay almost $40 for a onesie with a pattern on it?

What a cool clothing line.

Too bad CBB didn’t post about this line earlier. When http://www.coolbabykid.com posted about it, Masala baby had a 40% off promo that ended on Dec 31st.

I am just sad that there isn’t a coupon or promo out when CBB is posting about it to it’s readers.

As much as I love the designs, I just can’t justify spending $38 on a tunic for my son and baby.

I just finished a Bollywood film class and fell in love with the style of clothes in those movies. Masala Baby is too cute!
