Look for Less: Emme Muñiz’s Poolside Glam

Bauer-Griffin

With her kids (and entourage) in tow, actress/singer Jennifer Lopez hit the pool at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort last Friday for some relaxing mommy and me time.

But it was her diva-in-training daughter — 23-month-old daughter Emme Maribel — who really caught our eye.

Decked out in Bonpoint‘s Etonia dress ($133), Burberry‘s Toddler Check Swimsuit ($70) and Nadia sandals ($65) by Kid Express, the chic toddler was dressed to impress.

Even twin brother Maximilian David stepped out in a matching pair of Burberry swim trunks!

Love Emme’s look as much as we do? We’ve found equally adorable pieces all for under $30!

Check below for our Look for Less!

Dress:

Emme’s cute sundress sports stylish spaghetti straps. Baby Lulu‘s Pink Abigail Ruffle Jumper Dress ($29) trades the adjustable ties for straps with super sweet ruffle-trim.

Swimsuit:

Although babyGap‘s Striped Rosette Two-Piece ($20) switches out plaid for stripes, the earthy hues — with a pop of fuschia! — are very close to the colors of Emme’s designer one-piece.

Sandals:

Featuring pretty floral appliques, Jumping BeansMini Bloom Sandals (now on sale for $12) will take any warm-weather outfit up a notch.

Those Jumping Beans sandals are too cute!!

- Allie-Rose on

It may be just me but I was disappointed to see that the equivelent of the burberry suit was a baby bikini. I love the baby gap line, I really do but even some of their things are a little inappropriate for babies. Like I said, may just be a personal opinion but I would have liked to see an equally as cute one piece suit. There are way too many crazy people in the world

- Aidens_mommy on

I guess I’ve just spent too many years as a child and a mother being pretty broke… but that one single outfit is a months groceries for my family. Almost $300 on a baby outfit she’ll outgrow? I’m glad that their family has the money to buy things like that.. but wow, I guess it’s just shocking to me.

- Korrie on

Aidens_mommy: I know a lot of parents actually prefer two pieces on toddlers and infants because it’s easier for diaper changes or quick trips to the potty. It’s hard to get a wet bathing suit down over a little wet body in a hurry, especially in the case of a potty training toddler.

- Caitie on

Wow. That bathing suit is really skimpy. Couldn’t a more apprpopriate two piece?

- Mary-Helen on

I let my girls wear long tankinis since 2 pieces are a lot easier to use when needing to go to the washroom. The top piece comes down and touches the bottoms though. There is no way I’d put a bikini on a young girl. I have never understood the sexualization of young girls/babies.

- Lorus on

Not appropriate? Are you kidding me? We are talking about a baby. In Europe some kids of that age don’t wear anything on the beach and nobody talks about being inappropriate.

- Mariasha on

I may be wrong, but I hardly see an infant in a cute two piece suit as “sexualiztion”. Pedophiles are out there, but they are not choosing their prey based upon the child’s choice of bathing attire.

- Jessica on

Am I a horrible mother for wanting that Gap bikini for my daughter!!?? I think is so cute! It never crossed my mind it was inappropriate..I mean she is a baby!

Anyway..I too think 300 dollars is a lot of money for an outfit that a kid will outgrow, but then again I dont have the money Jlo has…lol

- XOXO12 on

My daughter is two and likes to wear bikinis. We like them also because it is much easier to change her diaper or put her on the potty.

- Kirsty on

Over here the Burberry check is synonymous with chavs (white trash) I can see the point about bikinis being easy to change but I think my kids must just pee in the pool because it’s not been an issue for us really. Not that they actually get to go swimming very often cos I’ve got 4 under 4

- Elby on

When my girls were two, they wore only diapers in the pool or nothing at all. Guess I never really thought about the pedophile angle.

Of course, pictures of my kids weren’t splashed across the pages of every magazine on the planet either. :)

- Janna on

I lived in europe while my older daughter was an infant and let her run around the beach in just a swim diaper many times. We received a one-piece suit as a gift and my girl was in that for manny months until we started potty training, when I cursed the one-piece and bought a tankini, more for sun coverage than any other concerns. My youngest started out in swim diapers too, although we put her in a one piece sooner because she loved to pull and tug and she kept pulling her diaper off, and we though the one-piece would help with that. It has. It’s got a cute little skirt and she likes it. We received a bikini for her as a gift but she only wore it once, the top kept riding up to her armpits!

I never really gave much concern to the whole pedophiles-leering-at-my-daughters debate, I don’t see how covering their stomachs would do much, though. I mean, so you add an extra two inches of fabric and attach their underwear and top together. Big whoop. I really don’t think it matters much.

- Vera on

I don’t find it inappropriate because I think there’s a pedophile on every corner; it’s just a little too grown up. I like my little girls to wear little girl stuff. There’s alot of time for string bikinis, why not let little girls have their ruffles and bows?

- Mary-Helen on

I love those sandals and the dress is cute, but I agree with Mary Helen on the bathing suit. The string bakini is just weird for little girls (and I am still young with no kids lol). I think a 2 piece like this is cute: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=17c7fc1&RefPage=X6&deptID=62438&catID=63177&cmOrigID=17c7fcd&cmPosID=3&CmCatId=62438|63160|63162|63177
But I still think the one pieces are cuter.

- Erika on

My kids wear a UV protective tee shirt from the Cancer Council and a pair of swim briefs at the beach/pool. We tried to one piece two and it failed miserably. This way our kids get sun protection (we live in Australia) and every year get to pick out a new cool top, and we have less to worry about.

- Catey on

i dont see anything wrong with wearing two piece on a baby either, pedophiles are gonna be around anyways. Personally its more convenient to wear a two piece and i actually think there cute. My little girl wears them all the time. the gap 2 piece is very cute btw, but i would never put those sandals on my child, not a fan of them.

- lilly on

i’m with catey – my kids are in a long sleeved rashie and swimming briefs if they are at a pool or beach. you get sick of covering entire squirmy little bodies with sunscreen.

- katie on

I had never heard of the Burberry reputation Elby mentioned and was shocked to read that! So I did a little Googlng and am both shocked and amused by its reputation here. I’m in the UK for a few months and brought two Burberry scarves from the States, thinking I’d look so authentically British (;)), and all this time people have probably just thought I’m trash. Awesome. Shows how much I know.

I think they overdo it with the bling on Emme between the braclets and earrings-I think you should pick one or the other on a baby that young-but that swimsuit cracks me up. And I’ve never been anti-bikinis for babies uness they’re outright skeevy. If boys can shows their stomachs, no reason girls can’t.

- Lauren on

i dunno about the burberry rep in canada, i think they make beautiful clothing, im a fan of there kids clothes, but i would prefer two piece rather then 1 piece. I dont think its trashy, i guess it depends, maybe its different in the u.s or other countries. I also agree that they wear too much bling on Emme, i mean why wear all this jewelery on a baby when shes only in a pool.

- lilly on

Emme’s bling is all about latin culture, We (latinos) think babies look cute with their own jewelries; so Emme’s wearing the typical nameplate bracelate; It’s one of the first gift that a expecting mom receives. Anyway I love the whole outfit!
