No more bare legs for Michelle Williams and daughter Matilda Rose!

After spending time on the West Coast, the pair were back in breezy Brooklyn, bundling up against the cold as they made a coffee run on Sunday.

Matilda, 4, is the only child for the actress and the late Heath Ledger.

Matilda uses a Mini Kick Scooter in Pink ($80).

She is so cute and I can’t believe how big Matilda has gotten.

Belle on

They are both so cute. Matilda is always dresses so sensibly. Michelle must have a coffee addiction like me–she always has a coffee in hand.LOL

Matilda certainly seems to have a sunny disposition. It is lovely to see.

Michelle looks gorgeous! Matilda always brings a smile to my face when I see her in pictures. Her scooter wheels don’t look right-hope it is just the angle of the camera?!

Spiff on

April…we have that same scooter (it is FABULOUS by the way!) and the wheels tilt inward when you are riding.

Does anyone know for sure if Matilda’s last name is legally Ledger? Just curious – if so, I wonder if Michelle will one day change Matilda’s name to Williams (so they would share the same last name). It might simplify their lives a bit – does anyone agree?

Jill on

Chicki-
She might leave it as Ledger as a way to honor Matilda’s father and make her feel connected to him. Also, I have friends who use their maiden name while their children take their father’s surnames, and I’ve never heard any of them refer to it as inconvenient. It’s about whatever works best for each individual.

Though Matilda looks a lot like her dad, I see a lot of her mom in her too.

She looks very much like her dad, very cute!

Chicki – I think it’s a personal choice to change last names.

In my case, my daughter and I have different last names and it really is a pain. I’m always called Mrs. (my daughter’s last name) all the time and it annoys me. Or they want to give her my last name. If I had the option I would most definitely change it to my name.

Catey on

When my Mum remarried, she actually reverted to her maiden name. And my sister and I made the decision to change our last names as well to the same last name as our mother, more to do with a long-lasting bad relationship with my father. It was a decision which genuinely surpised my mother, but caused a lot of issues with my father’s family who we still spent time with, particuarly my grandparents.

I’m sure Matilda, like me, can make her own decisions when the time is right. There is no way any of us can say if this would be the best decision for her.

Any simplicity that would come out of changing Matilda’s last name would be outweighed by the hassle of changing everything.

I think (and hope) Matilda doesn’t change her last name. It’s her father’s name and a way to honor him.

Saralyn on

Matilda’s last name is Ledger, and will always be Ledger.

Bella on

What a precious little girl. She is growing so fast.

I think even if she did change her name to Williams she’d still be called Matilda Ledger because everyone is aware of who her father is and it is very unlikely Michelle will be bothered by this, especially now that Matilda will be Heath’s only child.

Mari on

I don’t see the big deal in people giving yourself or your child the wrong name when they are different. You correct them and then it is done.

I’ve had that during my childhood and there never was a problem with it.

I think in this case it is especially important that Mathilda has her father’s last name, since he has no more the opportunity to have another child carrying on the family name.

I love this mom-daughter duo. They are always stylish and seem to love doing normal things :)

I hope Michelle does not change Matilda’s last name, as it is a great way to honour her father. However, I do understand the simplicity in changing her last name to Williams. My sister has two kids…two different dads, and each kid has their dad’s name, and then my sister has her last name. It does get confusing and I’m sure there will be lots of questions once these kids get to school as to how they are brother and sister with two different last names.

Matilda’s adorable, and that scooter sure does look like fun! No wonder she’s all smiles, even though I’ve yet to see her without one. :)

sgtmian on

what a hot mom.

Abby on

We rarely see Matilda, but when we do, I’m so happy, because she is just so adorable and reminds me of Heath.
She always looks like she’s having fun & is happy!
I hope she keeps her last name Ledger.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
