Daddy’s Little Twin
Before Melody was born, everyone kept guessing who she would look like. Steve and I both have a pretty distinct look, and between both of our diverse backgrounds, we figured Melody would be like the United Nations!
When I was expecting, my number one priority was to have a healthy pregnancy and give my baby everything she needed nutritionally, especially because this was my first pregnancy. The last thing on my mind was what the baby would look like.
Even though I was eating a lot and giving my body healthy foods, I was wondering how big she would get because when Steve was born he was almost 10 lbs! *Yikes* I would be lying if I said the thought of a ten pounder didn’t frighten me just a little — but I should add that it didn’t stop me from eating everything in sight like a vacuum…
From the get-go, she was measuring very big and it wasn’t slowing down. I was only about 6 lbs. when I was born, and she was already around 6+ lbs. by month seven! I should’ve known then, that was a clue that she was going to take after her daddy.
They are now practically twins! When he’s holding her and I look over it’s almost scary how much she resembles him. I tell my friends and family, “She’s his spitting image!” They feel like they have to console me or something with, “Don’t worry, she’ll look more like you when she’s older” — as if I’m upset! It’s too funny, because it doesn’t bother me at all that my daughter looks like her awesome father, the man I love.
Here’s a picture of Melody that I took this week, and one of Steven when he was 7 months old. The science of genetics is truly incredible.
Let me know if you think they look alike or if it’s just my imagination!
