Review: Reusable Organic Cotton Tissues

Courtesy of Better for Grownups

Reusable tissues might make you turn up your nose (pun intended), but they’re more hygienic than you think. Check out the organic cotton tissues ($35 per box of 12) by Better for Grownups (the company behind Better for Babies). They’re plush and easy-to-clean.

Made of super-soft cotton sateen, the tissues are as strong as a cloth but light to the touch — not like Grandpa’s scratchy pocket handkerchiefs. Plus, they’re simple to use. Just pull them up out of the reloadable box and when you’re done, tuck them back inside the handy storage compartment until you’re ready to wash them.

Kids will love the novelty. Parents will love the practicality. Eco couldn’t be easier.

So $35 for a box of 12 handkerchiefs…..?

Re-usable tissues? Wow. What will they think of next?

Ewwww…

I can understand the “green” factor of reusing these, but we put our tissues in the organic compost bin, so they’re getting recycled (anyway)

The price is really high as well. My dad used white cotton handkerchiefs for many years, and he never complained about how they felt — they get softer and softer as you wash them.

Personally, we will stick to our non-reusable tissues. I have no problem recycling them, and I’d rather not wash boogery tissues, lol!

pretty cool idea!!

While we sell (as well as personally use, LOVE and ADORE) the Better for Babies line of organic diapers and wool covers, I am not completely convinced on the Better for Grownups line. The cotton is beautifully soft and I quite like the organic reusable makeup pads, but I worry that the packaging (although cool in concept and design) is an unnecessary excess. Being familiar with the company’s vision and philosophy, I am sure that the packaging is uber low-impact – still is it really necessary? Just because something is organic or recycled or biodegradable, doesn’t mean that it isn’t excessive…and excess amounts to waste in a time when we should all be reducing.

Reusable tissues yes they are called hankerchiefs. I have used them for years. I would not pay that much for a box of tissues. I can get three 100 cotten hankies for 1.99.

Better for certain Grown-ups profits.

This will be one of those technological advances that I would only accept kicking and screaming….I’m almost 38 and love most things green and modern but my brain wouldn’t accept this…no sir!

My grandmother still puts a lock on her phone when us kids are alone at her house…she just can’t accept that we have cellphones and will not “run up” her long distance!

@ KW:
I guess you wouldn’t ever use cloth diapers then, if you think THAT’s gross? :)

These look awesome! I think they come in a ‘refill’ option as well (without the packaging) but I think the refillable box with a dirty drawer is key. Totally smart idea!
