Nicole Kidman: 'It's Harder' to Travel With a Toddler

Flynet

With a motto of “have baby, will travel,” Nicole Kidman says that daughter Sunday Rose, 17 months, is “okay” with life on the road — but as she has gotten older, it has become “a different type of traveling.”

“It’s harder now to pack her up,” Nicole concedes. “When they’re 6 weeks, they’re easier to travel with. And you’re breastfeeding, so it’s easy to feed.”

While mom, baby and dad Keith Urban prefer to stay in their adopted hometown of Nashville whenever possible — “that’s why I don’t work that much,” Nicole says — work commitments can’t always be ignored. To that end, the 42-year-old actress adds,

“I just can never be away from her, so she comes wherever I go, as you see.”

As she promotes Nine — in wide release on Friday — Nicole couldn’t help but reminisce about making the film just weeks after giving birth.  “I was wrapped into that dress,” she says. “That’s when I had big boobs from the milk. That’s the benefit of breastfeeding.”

The 35-year-old actor plays Parker Selfridge in the 3-D science fiction film, which grossed an estimated $73 million domestically in its first weekend — the second largest December opening in history.

Lucia, 12, is Giovanni’s daughter with ex-wife Mariah O’Brien.

Amy Graves/WireImage

Those of you who missed Kendra Wilkinson‘s baby special Sunday night on E!, never fear. The new mom is offering plenty of play-by-play coverage of her new son on Twitter, too.

Kendra and her husband, NFL player Hank Baskett, welcomed their newborn, Hank Randall Baskett IV, on Dec. 11.

“Up all night with the lil man again but i enjoy every min of it,” she wrote Sunday in one of her Twitter-speak posts. “He almost peed in my face today.”

As tired as she is, she’s getting energy from an old friend. Later in the day on Sunday, she wrote: “man it feels great reuniting with my best friend that i havent seen in 9 months…her name is COFFEE!!!!!!”

Most important, it sounds like little Hank is doing wonderfully. Returning from a pediatrician appointment on Monday, Kendra reported: “hes 100% healthy..now im 100% happy.”

Sarah Jessica Parker on the 'Privilege' of Raising Twins

Santiago Baez/Ramey

When Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick — already parents to 7-year-old James Wilkie — set out to expand their family, they got their wish and then some!

“We didn’t want twins but we wanted a bigger family and this is what we got,” says the mom to twins Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, 6 months. “It’s a blessing, it’s a thrill, it’s a privilege but it couldn’t be more different.”

Noting that just one baby “is daunting in the beginning, with all the paraphernalia,” Sarah Jessica adds,

“It’s shocking. The diapers, the ointment, the bottle, the pacifier, the baby blanket, plastic bags so you’re not leaving a dirty diaper at someone’s house or a restaurant, God forbid, wipes, baby Tylenol. The list goes on and you need it all, it’s not a joke. Times two.”

The addition of the twins has made the couple — married since 1997 — more efficient parents, however, approaching outings “like a military operation” and keeping the girls on a strict schedule.

“Otherwise you’d be either feeding or changing 24 hours,” Sarah Jessica, 44, points out.

“Honestly it’s funny. It’s comedic. There is so much organization and advance planning that happens…Plus we have a seven-year-old and he has needs too though they’re different. The bag is lighter.”

Citing H1N1 fears — “[the twins] are too young to get the shots,” Sarah Jessica says — the family of five has been sticking close to home, but it’s only temporary. “We travel a lot as a family,” says the Sex and the City star. “I relish the idea of being in a different place.”
