Bronx Wentz: Swingtown

Saleem Elatab-AhmadElatab/Splash

Wheee!

Bronx Mowgli Wentz, 13 months, gets into the swing of big city fun with parents Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz at an NYC park on Monday.

The family is in the Big Apple as the singer and actress, 25, continues her run as Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago.

See more images of the trio in their family photo album!

Ashlee wears Gap’s Rugby Peacoat in Charcoal/Black ($70).

I love that you see Bronx with Pete just as often as you see him with Ashlee. They are a great couple, or seem to be, and it is great to see that they seem crazy about their baby.

- ruby on

Fingerless gloves never feel like they do anything to keep my hands warm. I like the idea of them, because they allow me to maintain my finger dexterity, but man, in this weather, I need the real deal!

On another note, I think Ashlee is really pretty and seems to love being a mom. Bronx is so adorable!

- mrsh on

I’m beginning to adore this family

- Catey on

They are so cute together.
They were with Pete’s parents, you can just see his mum Dale in the background in the 2nd picture.

- selene on

I have that coat! It looks really nice on her.

- electra on

p.s it looks like ashlee is wearing the mittens that come off.

- electra on

The Wentz’s seem to be making the most of their time in NY. In all the pictures they look like they’re having a blast! I agree with the other poster. I’m starting to love this family and look forward to the pictures of them. Super cute! ♥

- I♥CBB on

thanks for the info on ashlee’s coat! it’s adorable!

- Jillian on

Ashlee looks so gorgeous and HAPPY in these photos!

- Stephany on

yea she has the mittens that fold back I call them “glittens” I will only wear those

- t. on

Why would they take the baby to a park yesterday! It was FREEZING. In the teens with a wind chill in the single digits. And the baby doesn’t have gloves on, but his parents do? And if they felt they HAD to take him out, he needs a head to toe snowsuit, not some flimsy pants and a hat. That wouldn’t even keep me warm in this weather. Hands are what gets coldest on a body first, other than ears. Poor baby. =(

- Amity on

Wow. Bronx – he’s gotten so big so fast!

- coolwebgossip on

They seem like such a fun family.

Amity, I’m sure Bronx is fine. I doubt they kept him outside for hours on end. Besides, he looks heavily layered.

- Liliana on

Amity sure it was chilly in NYC but not in the teens! It got to 40 yesterday so please stop exaggerating.

- Sarah on

I agree with Liliana & Sarah. I’m sure Bronx was plenty warm. What’s with people on here questioning whether or not kids are dressed warm enough? It’s getting old.

- Brooklyn on

No I’m going to have to disagree on the warmth factor here on Bronx because its come to my attention MANY times over their stay in Nyc that the child never has any shoes on
He is always in his socks & actually there are photos of them after the park visit on the same day & the shoes are gone & hes again in a pair of socks
They took him to a dentist & they had hats gloves & coats on yet he had NO hat no gloves & no shoes IN NYC at this time of year
This is an issue I really dislike about them as parents
Sorry but would you like to be in a pair of socks in Nyc right now?

- littl3misswise on

Shoes can be uncomfortable, as long as he is not walking and he is not cold he does not need shoes.

Some people on this website thinks a bit of cold will kill you. That is not true. It is healthy to go outside in cold weather, healthier than staying inside for weeks because it is cold.

- Anna on

Yet he clearly has shoes on in this pic so what is there to gripe about? If a baby continuously kicks his shoes off (sometimes getting lost in the process) there isn’t much you can do. Also, Sarah is right. Monday in NYC was NOT in the teens. Yes it was cold, but it was in the high 30s. The BITTER cold was on Tuesday where the temps struggled to make it to 20 degrees. He’s dressed fine.

- lizzielui on

I’m talking about at LEAST 5 or more different occasions i did say i do see his shoes in this paticular photo I am saying in MOST other photos he had his jacket swinging open … no hat no gloves no shoes
If you guys are saying this is normal in NYC when it was REALLY damn cold last week & so on then … wow
Why did Ash & Pete feel the need to have heavy coats …wooly hats & gloves & shoes on if Bronx didnt need any.
Go check out recent photos of Bronx all over the net Please don’t tell me a baby his age needs no shoes on in SNOW & freezing weather EVEN swinging on a swing in the freezing cold. (last week)
I would link to the pics in question but they are from different websites & I don’t want to come on this great site linking people to other sites
It’s rude – I’m just pointing out what I & many others have noticed about the boy since they have been in NY lately

- littl3misswise on

While I think he does look appropriately dressed it was EXTREMELY cold yesterday, it was in the 30s and for most of the day with 45mph winds throughout the city. He’s no suri cruise so i’m not going to complain.

- electra on

lizzielui- I couldn’t agree more about the fact that Bronx might just be one of those kids who constantly kicks his shoes off. I once knew a woman who’s baby boy did that. He just would NOT keep his shoes on.

Because of that, his mother ended up just leaving his shoes in the car whenever they went out (yes, even in the middle of winter!), because she knew that there was an extremely good chance that they’d just get lost otherwise (i.e., he’d kick them off when she wasn’t looking!).

If Bronx were walking on the cold ground, that would be one thing, but I don’t think we’ve seen even one picture of him walking in NYC. I’m sure those socks are keeping his feet plenty warm. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

I hate to say it, but this baby hardly every has shoes on. I think of that every time I see a pic of him, it’s nice to know someone else noticed too! At 13 months he is most likely walking or trying to. I love this family but for crying out loud, put some shoes on this poor baby! You can tell by looking at his instep that he hardly ever has shoes on. I’m not picking on the family but this will cause him huge problems down the road. I bet at this point it’s too hard to even get shoes on him.

- NiCole on

Youre right Nicole :) when they are in LA even on cold (in la) days they dont even have a pair of socks on him yet they were wrapped up well when it was chilly in la
Sorry no excuse if you are in NYC & your kid does not wanna keep his shoes on there are a number of ways to protect his little feet from letting heat out …. wear a damn onesie type suit over the shoes or just wear one … idk what theyre called in the states
No excuse & the people that stick up for a 13 month old child with no shoes on in COLD cold…. what the heck would u like to be out in socks regardless of if you are touching the ground or not …CMON

- littl3misswise on

I doubt him wearing shoes or not is going to be detrimental to his health and overall well being. For all any of us know, he continuously kicked them off and they were placed in the diaper bag.

It’s a shame people can’t view pictures on this website without passing judgement. These three are spending time together as a family. Enjoy the pictures and move on.

- Liliana on

He is wearing shoes…you can clearly see them in the second picture

- Erin on

Erin – we know he is wearing shoes in THIS photo – he can & has worn shoes- his parents choose for him NOT to 80% of the time regardless of the weather. ( search his pic before you b**ch at me) please. I have no huge issue for socia services I’m just trying to voice my opinion yet people seem to defend their ways.
& Liliana he does wear shoes from time to time SO its not about a chid that refuses to.
Thats the discussion :) HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

- littl3misswise on

littl3misswise, I don’t understand your point. It’s the equivalent of viewing a picture on here of a child and leaving a comment regarding your distate for the attire they were wearing three weeks ago.

I never said Bronx constantly refuses to wear shoes. When my children were his age, they had moments where the shoes would be kicked off and other instances where they’d stay on.

Happy New Year to you, too.

- Liliana on

littl3misswise- It could very well be that he kicks his shoes off MOST of the time, but not ALL of the time. :)

NiCole- I doubt going without shoes most of the time is going to cause any problems for Bronx’s feet down the rode. I go barefoot about 95 percent of the time, and I actually wear socks quite rarely, when you take in to account the fact that I only wear them in the winter, late Fall, and early Spring. In Summer, late Spring, and early Fall, I wear sandals and no socks. :)

The only time I’m not barefoot is when I’m out in public. I don’t even wear shoes, socks, or sandals when I’m out in my own yard in the summer! Anyway, my point is that my feet are perfectly fine despite the fact that I go barefoot most of the time (and I’ve been like this ever since I was a very little kid!)! :)

Like I said earlier, I’m sure Bronx kicks his shoes off a lot of the time, and it’s usually just easier for Ashlee and Pete to leave them in the car or diaper bag to avoid them getting lost. I also want to point out that if they DO keep the shoes in his diaper bag, I’m sure they wouldn’t hesitate to put them on him if they thought his feet were getting too cold!

Another thing I want to point out is that Bronx may have feet that get hot and sweat very easily. My feet are like that. That is the main reason I don’t wear shoes and socks if I can help it…because my feet practically feel like they’re suffocating in a few minutes (luckily that doesn’t happen when I wear sandals, since the air can get at my feet then, but I still prefer being barefoot)!

Also, the only way I could tolerate pajamas with feet when I was little was if my parents put baby powder or the kind of powder you use to prevent yourself from getting athletes foot in the feet before putting the pajamas on me, to avoid my feet having to end up bathing in their own sweat! Bottomline: There are a million legimit possible reasons why Bronx rarely rares shoes, and I’m sure Ashlee and Pete know their son far better than any of us ever will! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

littl3misswise – “I’m just trying to voice my opinion yet people seem to defend their ways.” Yes, because that is their opinion. If you can have your opinion, others can have theirs, right? Not having a go, just trying to be fair here.

And, just to say – the majority of picture sets I have seen of Bronx, in New York, he starts off with shoes on, but then ends the day with them off. That’s probably because he doesn’t like shoes. His parents obviously bring shoes with them when they take him out, and I’m sure if they felt he was in need of them, they’d put them back on for him. I’m pretty sure they know how to treat their son more than we do.

It’s also worth noting that we only see a few pictures of him. We don’t see pictures of every outing the Wentz family have. I’m not saying that he has shoes on every time the paparazzi aren’t around, but that we don’t have a full picture, or a full story to this.

I’ve seen pictures where his socks look very thick, anyways. In my experience, thick socks are sometimes better for warmth than shoes. Mine certainly are!

I give up… but watch for yourself :-)
happy new year

- littl3misswise on

Megan- I couldn’t have said it better myself. You just said exactly what I’ve been trying to say, only you said it much better than I ever could! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

I’d say that finding baby shoes that will stay on is easier than baby gloves.
I had to search and try out a lot of them and found some for my son who did not like shoes either. Or maybe liked them but not on his feet. I never found good gloves though. I ended up buying the ones with a string attached so at least we don’t loose them.

I also want to say that I kept fighting about “not dressing my sun enough” with my mom. Well I ended up having very chill tolerating child like his dad and she ended up with me who puts on long sleeve every time the sun goes down – in the summer.
I’m thinking…. Bronx will be O.K.! :-)
