With dad Joel Madden — who’s recovering from dental surgery — home with 3-month-old Sparrow, a newly brunette Nicole Richie and her mother Brenda took daughter Harlow Winter Kate, 23 months, out for a little shopping on Monday!
The trio visited Barney’s New York for some Christmas shopping — wonder what they picked out?

Harlow really looks mixed here. It seems she is getting darker as she grows up. She looks just like Nicole did at this age with the blondish curly hair.

I have noticed how people seem to go crazy for children with curly hair. This is no comment on Harlow by the way…but I really don’t like curly hair that much and tend to prefer straight hair on children…maybe I am the only one.

It’s so funny I think Harlow looks so different with each way she wears her hair! haha ! She is absolutly adorable! I like the cute different hairstyles Nicole gives her. She is always dressed so cute and seems like such a happy child! Can’t wait to see more of little Sparrow!

miaow, i know what you mean to a certain extent, although i don’t think it so much with kids. there was a girl at my school who had really curly hair and lots of the other girls used to tell her how jealous they were and wished they had curls like her. i was always secretly glad to have straight hair because i feel you can do more with it, is easier to manage and generally speaking i just prefer the way it looks. this is completely just a personal preference of how i would want my hair to be, many people with curly hair look great like that but it’s not something i have ever wanted for myself.
however, with kids harlow’s age i can see how it is cute, it looks sort of angelic.

The second pic is just too cute. I see the resemblances more clearly there…she has her Mom’s eyes and her Dad’s nose, all the way. And she has to be one of the absolute CUTEST celeb babies on the whole planet!!!

I was never a big Nicole Richie fan, but that little Harlow, is just the sweetest thing. She really is one of the cutest little celebrity kids. And I like the clothes Nicole chooses for her. Not too over the top, but still adorable.

I prefer curly hair personally on celebrity babies I love Johan and Henry Samuels and Nahla Aubry curls especially. I also love Taylor swifts natural curls. More importantly to me thick hair is a attractive. Curly or straight none of it is attractive if the hair is too thin. I just feel that, yeah curls are hard to manage but once you get the hang of it you’re good to go. Plus, people with curly hair are just a blow out away from straight hair.
Harlows outfit is super adorable. I usually don’t like the all black on little kids, but she looks chic.

If you were born with straight hair love your straight hair. If you were born with curly hair love those curls. I was born with straight hair that got curlier and curlier until it was reddish-brown and coarse. I love Harlow’s curls and hope she never straightens them to fit in or please others.

Harlow is absolutely adorable! In the second picture she looks just like Nicole (IMO).

I agree with the posters who said Harlow is all Nicole. She looks a lot like Nicole did as a child! Anyway, I’m glad Nicole is finally feeling better aftter her bout with Pneumonia. I saw a picture of her at a book signing this past weekend, and felt bad for her. It was obvious in that picture that the Pneumonia took a lot out of her!

First, I LOVE Nicole Richie. She is my favorite celebrity/celebrity mom. I love how she’s turned her life around and how devoted she is to her family. Beautiful!
Now, about curly hair. I have had natural curls my whole life, and as a child, they were the bane of my existence! I hated my hair so much and just wanted straight hair like every other girl I knew! By the time I was 10, my mom was allowing me to get my hair chemically straightened at a salon once a year, because she didn’t know how to care for it (straight-haired mom) and it made me so miserable. I stopped straightening it in high school, because I decided I wanted to dye it instead, and I couldn’t really do both or my hair would basically have broken off. Now, as an adult, I wear it curly. I still think that straight hair is easier to care for and style, and I actually hope my daughter has straight hair. Right now, at 9-months old, I can’t really tell what her hair texture is, but it seems slightly wavy. Even if it ends up being crazy-curly like mine, I know I’ll be able to teach her how to care for it and style it, after a few decades learning how to style my own
