He is really cute, I love how chunky he is :)

- Brooke on

How adorable! He has beautiful blue eyes.

- Liliana on

Too chunky. LOL. but he’s a cutie

- Tatyana on

Nice blue eyes. He’s a chunky lad, lol. Silly question probably?!, but is Fred’s hair longish/not cut as part of their Jewish faith, which I’ve read about previously with other celeb bubs?

- Sam and Freya's mum on

Her little guy sure is cute, but I guess she’s over her What Not To Wear appearance.

- Carol M. on

I am just concerned about his health. He is quite a large child.

- Lola on

What a bundle of cuteness!

- Valerie on

Guess she hasn’t been keeping up with the WNTW makeover huh?

- Sunshine on

I think I’ve seen a pic of Mayim’s husband and Fred takes after him A LOT. He is quite chubby, but probably still breastfed by her. He’s probably perfectly healthy.

- kendrajoi on

I love that she still carries Fred in a sling! I’d love to be able to do that, but every sling I try ends up being a back-breaking experience now that my ‘baby’ is over 25lbs! Anyone have an absolute favourite sling? I am thinking of having another baby soon …

- Stepha on

What a chubby little guy! Doesn’t look much like mom, I’ve never seen his dad. Maybe he takes more after him.

- Cherise on

Aww, give little Fred a break. Little man’s got a big head with chubby cheeks. His body actually looks quite little – he IS 15 months! I think he’s cute. Looks like a cabbage patch kid. I love that she does her own thing.

- crimpe on

Good grief. He is healthy and looks just fine. I don’t think anyone needs to be concerned for his health.

- FroMa on

The comments thus far are ridiculous. The baby is just plump, not obese. And frankly, it’s refreshing to see a celebrity that doesn’t look all that pulled together. The woman has a Ph.D. in neuroscience–maybe she has better things to worry about than her clothes. Most importantly, she seems happy, doesn’t chase the spotlight, and she clearly loves her kids.

- Catherine on

Come on guys, she just got off a plane! I thinks she looks adorable and her bub is so cute ;)

love Mayim!

- Hallie on

It’s hard to believe that her outfit is being criticized. She is not out for a night on the town. She just got off a plane with her baby! I actually thought her outfit looked comfortable and nice. She looks so young- a kid herself!

- Valerie on

He’s a cutie and she looks so happy! I don’t know what anybody is talking about his health – he looks like a perfectly healthy, well-fed baby. Besides his cheeks, he doesn’t even look that chubby.

- Jessie on

So glad to see Mayim still wearing her HEALTHY BREASTFED baby. Honestly, how can you tell the size of a baby in a photo? And even if he is chubby, what is the concern? They both look wonderful. Traditionally, Jewish males do not receive their first haircut until 3 years old. Who knows if that is why Fred has longish hair though, plenty of CBB babies have long hair – off hand I can think of Gwen Stefani’s son Kingston, Celine Dion’s son Rene-Charles, Kate Hudson’s son Ryder. Gwen and Celine are not Jewish, and I don’t think Goldie Hawn really passed on Jewish traditions to her kids (isn’t she a practicing Buddhist?).

- Selena on

Catherine, having a PhD doesn’t put you any “higher” than other people.

- Natasha on

Kate Hudson’s son is Jewish. She has said before in interviews that that is why his hair is long.

- Ply on

I feel so bad for the people knocking Mayim’s travel outfit. These nitpickers must be so uncomfortable in their own fancy attire they apparently wear during long distance travel. Meanwhile there’s the rest of us who travel in comfort in our comfy everyday clothes. ;)

- Lara on

Natasha, may not make you “higher” (whatever that means), but is does make you smarter. I assume you don’t have one.

- shewithaphd on

I think Fred is a cool looking little dude, and I don’t see anything wrong with her outfit!

- Anna on

we have the same pair of babylegs in the closet…

- meghan on

Selena- Actually, Rene-Charles recently recieved a trim! There are pictures of him with his new short hair. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

He looks adorable, not unhealthy. I just want to hug him!
As far as what Mayim is wearing, I got the feeling from her What not to Wear episode that she wasn’t really interested in fashion, and I couldn’t understand why she agreed to go on the show.

- Louise on

This baby is just beautiful und natural. I really had to laught about these comments about his health. Do you have nothing better to do? He is just 15 month old… Same with the comments about her clothes or “Catherine, having a PhD doesn’t put you any “higher” than other people.”… sorry, but nobody said this. You should find another hobby if you really have to put everything in a few words.

- Sarah on

Natasha; maybe a PhD doesn’t ‘put you any higher’ than anyone else, but I think the point being made (not trying to speak on Catherine’s behalf, but my feelings also) is that Mayim is not a ‘Paris Hilton’ or a ‘Katie Price’… She’s clearly very intelligent and has a lot of strings to her bow, and her top priority is not permanently looking like she just stepped out of a salon.

Anyway, Fred is gorgeous, and apart from having chubby cheeks, there is nothing to suggest he is ‘overweight’ or anything else.

Mayim seems like a wonderful mum :)

- Ruthella on

I love her! I think she looks really good. If you saw how she dressed pre-WNTW, then you’d know this actually looks better. I love that she still wears Fred, who looks perfectly healthy for 15-months. I’ve known babies half his age that were his size and considered perfectly healthy. Knowing Mayim’s parenting approach, I would just about guarantee that he’s still being breastfed and would have only started eating solids fairly recently.

- mrsh on

Concerned about his health??? Seriously??! Give me a break! He is a BABY; what do you suggest she do put him on a diet?? My son was very chubby at around a year and now at 2 he has slimmed down and doesn’t look chubby at all anymore. I would much rather see a chubby baby then a skinny baby thats for sure!!

- Diana on

Loved Mayim since since she first starred in Beaches. She looks great, and Fred is an adorable little guy. I’m am amused and saddened by the comments over concern over his weight. He’s 15 months old for crying out loud.

- CTBmom on

What a little cutie. He looks like he just woke up. To those making negative comments on his appearance, you are disgusting. We finally see a healthy normal baby and there’s concerns for his weight?? Give me a break.

- Ellen on

Oh my gosh this kid looks like a 30 year old trapped in a baby body!! I’ve never seen his father, but I’m willing to bet he looks exactly like him! Too funny! I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong with Mayim’s outfit??? I think it looks just fine.

- Jen on

He doesn’t look fat at all. He looks stocky! And I love to see her promoting baby wearing. If I had had twins, I would have done baby wearing all the time (and will if we have another one!)

- urbanadventurertales on

I have been thinking that this baby looks like someone famous and I just couldn’t put my finger on it until now: James Spader.I dunno…He is a cute, (apparently) happy, healthy little guy. We need not project our own insecurities on him, do we?

- Heather on

I really don’t see what’s wrong with her outfit. She looks pretty cute for being a mom with a baby who just got off a plane. She has never been about fashion, so no one should expect to see her dressing like Victoria Beckham any time soon (who by the way, puts on sweatpants when flying).

Natasha, I think Catherine’s point was that Mayim is a very smart woman who is concerned about things other than fashion. I doubt she meant to say that Mayim is better than anyone else.

- Sarah K. on

Cute baby and mom! As far as Mayim on WNTW, I felt she made it pretty clear she was looking for advice on what to wear because she was starting to go on auditions after taking a break and realized she needed a new wardrobe for her work as an actress, different from what she wears as a mom. Obviously she isn’t working at the moment this pic was taken, so her casualwear seems totally appropriate.

- Elizabeth on

I live near a community of Jewish people and I have to say they all sort of remind me of Mayim lol. Very laid back, don’t really care about appearance, and just go with the flow. Nothing wrong with that (and I’m not implying it’s all of them it just seems to be what I see where I live). But having a PH.D doesn’t really mean anything. The one family that I know personally the father is a doctor and mother is a lawyer – they’re kids dress in hand me downs (even the girl wears her brothers clothes) and the mother dresses like she’s 80. Certainly they can afford clothes and new shoes but they choose not to dwell on those things. I never understood it but I guess it’s not really my place to understand. To each their own ;)

BTW Fred looks fine just chunky and who doesn’t love a chunky baby!

- JMO on

For the question about wearing a heavier baby, try a mei tai or ergo–these are good for putting the weight on your hips instead of upper back (especially the ergo), and a baby that size can be carried on the back which is more comfortable.

- babyrama on

I knew there would be wank in response to this photo! I love all the perfect people on here who do everything above reproach! What stress-free lives you must lead!

- dickie on

Maybe people are thinking her son is younger since she is still wearing him and thus they conclude he is a huge “baby”, when in fact he is a “regular” sized toddler?

I think her outfit is fine. She is a mom and is dressed like one. I don’t really see many moms out there dressed in high fashion when toting around their kids. I don’t understand the comments about putting down how she is dressed. She is happy, and her family is happy. That is most important.

- Lena on

He’s a huge baby…no wonder because the Dad is quite big himself!

- Doreen on

i’m a bit confused, FroMa’s comment was the first one criticising people for saying negative things about his weight, but i can’t see any posts saying anything bad about his weight up until that point. am i missing something? what is everyone getting so riled up about? people said things like he’s a chubby little fellow, but that’s not a negative comment is it? we used to say that about Jessica Alba’s baby Honour, lots of babies are described as chubby or “chunkey monkeys” (one of my personal favourites) but surely stating the obvious isn’t putting the little guy down, it’s just stating a fact… i was just wondering which comments everyone was so upset about.

- JM on

JM – I think most people who took issue with the weight comments had a problem with #6 Lola, who made it out like there was reason to be concerned about Fred’s health due to his “large” size.

Lena – I agree, he’s not large for a toddler.

- mrsh on

The baby has a big chubby head which looks like it’s constricting in the photo whith the sling on!

- g!na on

I remember reading an article about her parenting, and they are really strict about what they eat as a family. I believe they try to stay vegan and are completely organic. This means Fred isn’t eating happy meals, I doubt if he has ever had any fast food in his life! All kids go through chubby phases – he will thin out a bit as he grows taller. As for Mayim – she looks like an average mommy coming off a plane! Her sweater is really pretty, and she is wearing a nice scarf. She looks cute and happy.

- Denise K on

He’s so cute! But he looks a little big for the sling. I love the slings for up to six months, but after that they want to be apart of everything, not to mention it doesn’t look comfortable for Mom or baby.

- Cassandra on

Concern for health is the new way to cover up being mean about someone’s weight. Just don’t bring it up! It’s none of your business. And baby fat is not unhealthy!

- ecl on

The sling is great in an airport when you’d like a toddler to stay contained, safe and secure near Mom.

Mayim seems very happy, and so do her children.

- stelly on

ecl; totally agree :) Baby ‘fat’ is healthy. My baby daughter is, and always has been, very thin and I’d love her to put some weight on. Nothing I can do about it, but babies are healthier with a bit of ‘chub’, when my little girl is ill she’s ILL because she has no reserves :(

Fred is lovely :)

- Ruthella on

Lola – seriously? you are concerned for Fred’s health? Mayim is a vegan and so are her kids. He has been exclusively breast fed until recently. The child has never seen sugar, dairy, meat or anything processed. He is probably the healthiest child you could find. Babys are supposed to be chubby – the baby fat helps with brain development and sets them up for the toddler growth spurt.

- rachael on

Who cares about the size of this kid…Does anyone notice she named her children:

Miles Stone (Say it outloud)
and
Fred Stone (middle name Flint?)

- rb on

Rachael, seriously? You think that all the things you mention make him healthy? It actually sounds very unhealthy to me. I believe in everything in moderation.

- Anna on

I think he’s adorable …… I think chubby babies are the cutest!

- Bancie1031 on

anna seriously??? sounds unhealthy??? what planet do you live on where eating sugar, dairy, meat and processed food (even in moderation) make you healthier than abstaining from such foods.
perhaps such thinking is the reason america is as heathy overall as it is.

- liza on

forgot to add…..this baby is adorable and a healthy looking, happy looking, breastfed baby!!

- liza on

Anna- But that’s the great thing about fruits and vegeatables. Other than fruits like bananas (which are loaded with potassium and carbs), they’re the one thing you can eat as much of as you want to! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

That looks uncomfortable :(

- True on

She looks lovely and that child is obviously well-loved. Shame on those of you calling her out for not wearing something fancier, or critiquing a child’s health based on the size of his face in a photograph. I truly hope you spend at least that much time looking in the mirror.

- Melanie on

Stepha #10- you could try a mei tai carrier for your older child. My middle child is 3 years old, and I can still carry him in one without any pain!!!! You can use a mei tai for a newborn as well, but I would suggest going with a Moby wrap rather than that or a sling. I’ve had one ever since my youngest was born, and it has been fantastic!

- Shannon on

rb- Hysterical. Totally hadn’t put that together! (and I do have a PhD!)

- brannon on

lol this is mayim-really. fred was exclusively breastfed to 28 lbs, no formula or solids. he started eating about 1 month ago and still nurses about 12 times a day. he is 30 lbs of love! his older brother was even bigger at this age and is now an “average” healthy vegan 4 yr old. i did not look my best but a 4 yr old and 15 month old in coach make me look like that!!!!

- mayim bialik on

Mayim – you look fantastic as does your little boy, I wish I looked as good after a flight with my 15 month old daughter! Big thumbs up for continuing to breastfeed too.

- Blondiebear on

Mayim..you look wonderful and I love your style!! Its a shame you had to defend yourself from all the catty comments. Keep up the good work because your family is beautiful!

- Blue on

Mayim, I think you look adorable as always; your personality is so winning that you just shine! And Fred (one of my favorite names – my cat is named Fred) is totally scrumptious. Thank you for openly breastfeeding, and hooray for chubby babies!

- Tsipa on

Fred looks happy and healthy, and Mayim is beautiful – pathetic really that so many are willing to criticise based on paparazzi photographs. Good on you Mayim for sticking up for yourself and your kids! Breastfeeding AND babywearing – that’s showing the rest of us how it’s done!

- darkfayr on

ps: we don’t cut hair until 3 in our family; it is a jewish custom. my older boy has curls, but poor fred’s hair is straight as can be and my kids’ hair grows fast… sigh. :) gonna be a long few years so to speak.
