There’s a new addition to the Sacred Heart Hospital staff — Scrubs star Judy Reyes has given birth to a girl.

Daughter Leila Rey Valencia arrived on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7:11 p.m., weighing in at 6 lbs., 7 oz and measuring 19 inches long. Baby girl is the first child for Judy, 42, and her boyfriend, director George Valencia.

The actress, who announced her pregnancy in June, confessed to being a bit nervous about impending motherhood.

“I’ve never been a baby person; babies always scared me,” she told Pregnancy magazine. “I’ve always been afraid to drop them or hurt them.”

That being said, Judy has big plans for baby Leila.

“I hope that she has perspective, a good sense of humor, patience, perseverance, and that she really just hangs in there to do what she’s passionate about. And has a dazzling smile like her mom!”

I’m amazed they were able to keep the birth a secret for nearly a week! That being said, I wonder if Leila is pronuced “LAY-luh” or “LEE-luh”?

I absolutely love the name Leila Rey – it flows really well together and sounds great. It’s also quite beautiful. It goes brilliant with her surname too.

Major congrat to Judy and her partner George

Aaah love the name – well I should, it’s my middle name and my mum’s first name.

I can’t speak for the parents here, but in my family it’s pronounced Lee-luh (to rhyme with Sheila). I love it when people pronounce it right – doesn’t happen that often lol

Congrats!
Cute name!

CelebBabyLover, I never knew it could be pronounced LEE-LUH. Very nice that you brought that to people’s attention. My sister’s puppy is named Leila (LAY-luh)because they got her after going to Hawaii. So I’m sort of biased but I do love the association of her middle name and mommy’s maiden name and how beautifully Leila Valencia flows :)

Jessi on

CBL: I would assume that it would be Lay-Luh. But I could be mistaken.

Mattie on

My daughter is Layla (lay-luh) and I have a friend named Leila (lee-luh). Not sure how they say it but either way it’s beautiful.

CelebBabyLover on

Kait- No problem! I once knew a woman named Leila, which she pronouned “Lee-luh”, which is how I know it can be pronuced that way. :)
