The holiday season is in full-swing in Legoland!
On Monday evening, celebrity parents Ali Landry and Rich Sommer were on hand to officially light the 30-foot-tall tree — made up of more than 245,000 forest green DUPLO bricks, adorned with almost 400 LEGO ornaments, and 1,000 lights — during the Legoland’s 7th annual Tree Lighting ceremony.
The event, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California and concluded with a donation to the organization, provided guests with a fireworks display and snow showers all around! Adding a bit of excitement was a stellar performance from the award-winning entertainment group The Jumpitz.
Mother to daughter Estela Ines, 2, Ali was particularly touched by the ceremony. “Being here with the mothers and fathers, grandfathers and the children; that’s how I was raised,” she tells the Hot Moms Club. “So for me, being in this kind of atmosphere and it is Christmas and festive and it is family; I don’t think there’s anything better.”

Having grown up surrounded by love, Ali and her husband Alejandro Monteverde, who was raised with a similar emphasis on family — “we both come from solid families” — the couple look to their parents for inspiration when it comes to their own household. “We just come from a very strong unit and that’s what we’re trying to build for ourselves,” the founder of the children’s clothing line Belle Parish explains.
Raising Estela amidst the glitz and glamour of Hollywood has undoubtedly provided their daughter with a list of unique opportunities. However, Ali is determined that Estela remains “grateful” and grounded when it comes to her celebrity lifestyle.
“I feel we are very blessed,” she confesses, adding their fame and fortune has granted them a lifestyle far from her own childhood. “And how do you raise a child to realize that she is very blessed? We constantly try to talk to her about how many other children are not eating and how lucky she is to have this.”
Despite juggling motherhood and her increasingly successful career, Ali reveals that she and Alejandro are “not protecting ourselves” from having a second baby! That said, their decision comes with a price.
“We’re in the entertainment business; it’s so tough for women, I find,” she says.
“My managers and agents are like, ‘Don’t get pregnant now, because pilot season is coming up. Wait ’til March and then try to get pregnant.’ I can’t live my life like that. That’s when you see what priorities come into play.”
A strong believer in holiday traditions, Mad Men‘s Rich Sommer reveals the Christmas spirit is already full-force in his household! “We’re big on Christmas trees and Christmas music,” he shares during the event. “The day after Thanksgiving, music is on and stays on until Christmas is just over. Christmas music is my thing.”
A proud papa to Beatrice, 2 this month, his daughter with wife Virginia, Rich reflects on the season of giving, always encouraging his daughter to go the extra mile. “To be good to people; To be nice to people,” he notes. “I think we’re all just trying to do the same thing: to raise happy, kind, productive citizens.”
Everyone, he notes, including his onscreen character, a father to a daughter Beatrice.
“We have some things in common; it’s amazing! It’s the best job I’ve ever had, and the best job I will ever have.”
