Gavin Rossdale: Two Sons Are 'Twice As Ambitious'

Meet the Famous

While wife Gwen Stefani took care of the kids in California, musician Gavin Rossdale wowed tennis fans in south Florida this weekend, teaming with Lindsay Davenport to beat tennis legend Martina Navratilova 6-2 in Sunday’s final match of the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic.

“It is magical having two kids instead of one, and I miss them when I am away like this,” Gavin tells Celebrity Baby Blog during the tennis event gala. “Two are twice as ambitious as one.”

The former Bush frontman is also a talented tennis player who adds an important dimension to Evert’s annual celebrity lineup. He says he loves to come to Delray Beach, Fla. to play in the charity event — celebrating its 20th year — but it means leaving the kids for three days.

“I never know what will happen with these two,” the rocker laughs. “Kingston is three and old enough to be developing an attitude, and Zuma at 15 months is learning from his older brother!”

It’s been a busy month for Gavin — having played a set of solo shows in the Chicago area, he headed to the Sunshine State for the tennis classic and will appear on Criminal Minds this Wednesday, playing a goth rock star turned murder suspect. As the holidays approach, the Stefani-Rossdales will be jetting off to Gavin’s native London for some rest and relaxation.

“We alternate each year,” Gavin, 44, explains. “Last year we stayed in the Los Angeles area, but now we’re excited about having an old-fashioned, European holiday. “

He is already making plans to attend plenty of children’s plays, movies and events to keep the kids distracted when they aren’t shopping and eating.

“The kids are better and funnier than ever,” he shares. “Fatherhood is everything they say it is and more. I love it.”

Jennifer Meyer Maguire: Family Is 'First, Second, Third On My List'

Anthony/Pacific Coast News

As a busy mom juggling two children — daughter Ruby Sweetheart, 3 tomorrow, and Otis Tobias, 6 months –  and her successful jewelry line, Jennifer Meyer Maguire often finds herself fantasizing about one little luxury: sleep.

However, her lack of shut-eye — or anything else! — pales in comparison to time spent with her family, including her husband, actor Tobey Maguire. “[I love to be] with my family, pretty much whenever we are all together, I’m in heaven,” she tells Pint Size Social.

“Literally, we could be driving in the car and I’m happy.”

Finding the balance between her career and her family hasn’t been a challenge for Jennifer, who insists the latter always come first in life. “My family is first, second, and third on my life,” she explains. “There is nothing as important to me as being a mom, wife, daughter, sister…And when all of that is strong and in place, I feel like my career runs smoothly.”

Her dedication to ensuring her kids grow up in a family-oriented environment is one which Jennifer hopes Ruby and Otis will forever appreciate. “[I want them to remember] that they had a wonderful, carefree, happy childhood filled with love and security,” she shares.

And when the busy mama does catch a moment to herself, she loves nothing more than to simply relax! “Alone, I love a long hot shower or doing yoga with Mandy Ingber,” she reveals.

Sarah Jessica Parker's Favorite Fragrance: Warm, Wet Diapers

Courtesy Elle

Most parents agree that integrating an older sibling into the process of welcoming a new baby is essential.

However, when actors Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick were approached by their 7-year-old son James Wilkie asking if he could take on the task of naming one of his baby sisters, the couple were more than a little apprehensive!

“He told me he really wanted Marion to be in the mix,” Sarah Jessica reveals in the December issue of Elle.

“We thought, ‘Are we crazy? Do we let our son name one of the girls? Is that the right thing to do? Is it important for him?’ And then he goes, ‘And I want it legal.’”

While James may have had the honor of naming his new sister Marion Loretta Elwell — whom the couple call by her first middle name — it is Sarah Jessica and Matthew who are on diaper duty for the 4-month-old and her twin Tabitha Hodge — and the actress embraces the task with open arms and a deep breath!

“I love the smell of diapers; I even like when they’re wet and you smell them all warm like a baked good,” she confesses. “I love the smell of Balmex. Love it.”

BabyBjorn's Travel Crib Light: It's Compact and Easy to Set Up!

BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light

Looking for a great travel crib for your child? Try BabyBjorn’s Travel Crib Light ($215 to $226 depending on the retailer). It weighs only 11 lbs, comes with a travel bag (with handles) and literally sets up in under a minute.

Just take it out of the bag, hold the sides and flip it out so the legs unfold towards the floor. BabyBjorn actually has a very cute “competition” video that shows how fast you can set it up. One dad does it in 21 seconds.

This lightweight, compact crib also comes with a water-repellent mattress cover that’s easy to remove and machine washable! If you want, you can also buy the company’s organic fitted sheet ($32).

While it’s too small to use as an everyday playard, it’s perfect on-the-go — especially when you have to get a sleepy child to bed while traveling. It’s designed for newborns up to 3 year olds.
