Terrence Howard Plays the Part of Prince Charming For His Girls

Lisa Lake/WireImage

For father-of-three Terrence Howard the childhood fairy tales of a little girl’s Prince Charming are a part of life he wholeheartedly believes in.

“Yes, you have to believe that or the world stops spinning,” he tells Redbook magazine. And while his daughters may one day meet a prince of their own, Terrence admits that their first knight in shining armor has already made his appearance.

“The first Prince Charming in our lives is our father, and the first Princess Charming is our mother. I think parents should show their children how to love, how they should be loved.”

In turn, Terrence notes, his girls have taught him a thing or two when it comes to women. “Young men tend to come into relationships feeling very strong and powerful, and they make a lot of mistakes,” he muses. However, according to the actor, welcoming a daughter changes it all.

“You see women through a whole different light because now you know that they were once someone’s little girl,” he adds. “I wish I’d had this knowledge when I was 20 — I wish I could call all the women I’ve ever dated and apologize. I didn’t know how precious they were. I know better now.”

Lending his voice as James in the Disney movie Princess and the Frog, Terrence drew inspiration from his own relationship he shares with his daughters. “Because they are my little princesses,” he says. “When I was speaking as my character, I was speaking to my little girls.”

Terrence and his estranged wife Lori McCommas are parents to Aubrey, 16, Hunter, 14, and Heaven, 12.

Hosted by the Hot Moms Club on November 1st, the shower took place in a room overlooking the ocean at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, Calif.

Opting for an intimate brunch with 30 close friends — including Zoe Saldana and Lisa Vidal — Judy celebrated her shower with lots of laughs, belly rubbing and great food.

The actress, 42, chatted about how excited she is about becoming a mom for the first time.

“Just two weeks ago, I started getting into the physically uncomfortable and emotional oh-my-gosh-she’s-coming place,” she told Life & Style.

Excited to be expecting a daughter with boyfriend George Valencia, Judy is definitely thinking pink.

“I wouldn’t know what to do with a boy. Dressing her is going to be a lot of fun!”

Judy surprised her guests with amazing gift bags worth over $400 from Jewels and Pinstripes — and we have one to give away! Click here to enter (contest ends 11/15/09).

Expectant Jenna Elfman: 'I Still Feel Sexy'

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin

How can an expectant mom stay stylish in her second trimester? Accentuate the positive, says Jenna Elfman.

Wearing a clingy sweater dress that showed off her toned legs, the actress told PEOPLE about her sure-fire pregnancy style strategy at Monday’s premiere of Old Dogs.

“I found I’m showing the things that are still intact,” Jenna, 38, said. “That helps with my beauty morale.”

“The legs and the arms — those are hanging in there, I’ll show those. That makes me feel like I’m still sexy despite my whole center of gravity being completely altered.”

For those who may not have killer gams like Jenna’s, she has some advice:

“Show what you feel hot about. For me it’s legs – they’re hanging in there, barely!”

Jenna, whose new show Accidentally on Purpose has just been picked up for the season, says that she’s feeling better after battling morning sickness in the first months of pregnancy with her second son, who is due in March.

“I’ve been good actually,” she said. “I finally feel like I have some energy … Normal and good.”

The actress also said she and husband Bodhi Elfman have managed to nip sibling rivalry in the bud with their elder son, Story Elias.

“He gets it,” Jenna says of 2-year-old Story. “He gives the belly kisses, he lays his head down and says, ‘Night night, baby’ and puts the blankie over my belly. So he’s got it. He’s amazing.”

Accidentally on Purpose airs Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

Sean and Aonika Show Off Their Little Lola

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin

Here’s a sweet girl we haven’t seen in awhile!

Sean Patrick Thomas and Aonika Laurent brought their daughter Lola Jolie to Saturday’s March of Dimes Celebration of Babies event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

How did the actors choose their 17-month-old baby girl’s name?

“I wanted to name her spirit, and I hoped to give her a French or Creole name,” Aonika explained.

“The baby was very active in my belly and loved music. I thought she had spunk. I suggested both ‘Lola’ and ‘Jolie’ as potential first names. Sean loved both.”

Once born, Sean and Aonika found the choices to be a great fit for their little one.

“Lola was alert, tiny, and filled with energy immediately. She was a ‘Lola,’ and of course we think she is absolutely beautiful, which is the meaning of the French word, ‘Jolie.’ It was perfect.”

Thandie Newton Says Pain Is a Great Teacher

Courtesy InStyle UK

Call it tough love! Thandie Newton has a message for her two girls as they grow up: Pain is all part of life.

The British actress was giving the advice after she bought her daughters, Ripley, 9, and Nico, 4 ½, bikes. Rip — as her mom calls her — cannot yet ride and was in tears because she had been teased by a young friend who said she would fall off.

“I said, ‘Yes baby, but you’ll get back on again and it’ll be sweeter for having fallen off,’” Thandie notes.

Thandie — the cover star for December’s U.K edition of InStyle — says that she has explained to her girls that the answers to problems are often found within themselves. “Don’t be afraid of pain because it’s part of life and it’s a great teacher,” says the actress. “Just get back on that bike.”

She adds, “One of the best things about being a mum is that you can cradle your kids metaphorically when they’re sad, but not eradicate discomfort because it’s valuable to them.”

The actress, who celebrated her 37th birthday last week, was speaking to the magazine to promote her upcoming apocalypse movie 2012. Posing for a series of shots that show off her lean frame, Thandie reveals her secret is Jivamukti yoga.

“It’s my food for the soul,” she tells the magazine. “When I’m not working, I’ll drop Rip off at school and Nico at nursery, then I go to yoga. I also have an amazing personal trainer who I see whenever I can. His name is Liston Wingate-Denys.”

Ripley and Nico are Thandie’s children with husband Ol Parker, whom she wed in 1998. 2012 hits theaters Friday.

Milkdot: Stylish Lunch Totes For the Whole Family!

Milkdot

When we were kids, lunch boxes were of the metal or plastic variety emblazoned with our fave TV shows (Muppets, anyone?) Despite how fun those old school versions were, we’re now loving Milkdot’s Stoh Insulated Lunch Tote ($25).

Not only is it sleek and stylish, it’s also environmentally friendly. The easy-to-clean fabric is both PVC and BPA-free, as well as water-repellent. Plus, it’s loaded with lots of cool features including two interior mesh pockets for added storage, closed-cell foam to keep foods hot or cold and a clear picture frame on the outside so you can easily personalize it.

This modern lunch tote — which comes in your choice of cotton candy pink/chocolate or robin’s egg blue/chocolate — is so chic you’ll want to snap one up for yourself.
