Natural Pod Tree Branch Blocks Let Your Kids Log Hours of Fun!

Natural Pod Tree Branch Blocks

Since arriving in our playroom, the award-winning Tree Branch Blocks ($30 CAD) from Natural Pod have been a major source of entertainment for my children.

Packaged in a simple cotton bag, these beautiful ‘blocks’ are made from local tree branches from Vancouver Island. They’re sanded until smooth (so no splinters!) and finished with beeswax.

Available in three sizes, the smallest set has 14 pcs — which is a great starter set for mini builders. My son and I loved playing with all the different shapes and creating all kinds of new structures together.

Interested in buying a set? Right now, Natural Pod is offering 10% on all purchases until December 1st. Just enter the coupon code CBB.66f71de.

While you’re shopping, check out their new Natural Pod dollhouse — it’s beyond drool-worthy. Another fave is the innovative Push-Cart/Doll Rocker combo. Both will provide hours and hours of incredible family fun.

Argington — a chic kid’s furniture brand created by husband and wife design duo Jenny Argie and Andrew Thornton — has launched a new affordable, eco-friendly line, The Bam Collection.

The comprehensive, ten-set nursery collection ($44 – $1349) is made with 100% non toxic and formaldehyde-free materials, glues and stains. Plus, each piece comes in three beautiful finishes — ebony, white and solid bamboo.

This high-style/high-minded furniture line is super popular with Hollywood’s stylish and eco-conscious moms including Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba and Kourtney Kardashian.

New mom Sarah Michelle Gellar Prinze loves the brand so much, she decked daughter Charlotte Grace‘s nursery out with the Sahara crib and changing table, the Eiffel bookcase, the Fuji toybox and the Ayres nightstand!

Scott Wolf Would Do 'Anything Under the Sun' for Jack

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin

Actor Scott Wolf is no stranger to life on the small screen, but now that he’s a father — to 7 ½-month-old Jackson ‘Jack’ Kayse, with wife Kelley — his role on the new ABC series V has taken on newfound importance.

“I’m sort of constantly diving in and out of my work life, and I’ve been lucky to be able to do that,” he recently mused to PopEater. “I’m grateful that I’ve had that opportunity, and that when I feel like I need to go live my life and be away from it for a little while, I can.”

All play and no work isn’t always realistic, however, and on that note Scott adds,

“I would definitely say that having my first child and looking down at this tiny face and knowing that I would do anything under the sun for him and, you know, that feeling of, it’s not just about me, or me and my wife. Now there’s a family to take care of here.”

Fatherhood “lit a fire” under Scott, he says, explaining,

“It…sort of increased my drive to get back, to find work to do.”

V airs at Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

Elisabeth Röhm Relinquishes Her Days As a 'Control Freak'

TTA Media/Splash News Online

The idea of parenthood doesn’t generally bring to mind images of a worry-free environment, but Elisabeth Röhm tells Celebrity Baby Blog if becoming a mother to her daughter Easton August, 19 months, has taught her one thing, it’s to simply sit back and relax. “Less is more,” the actress opens up while attending the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon.

“You can’t sweat the small stuff. Days of being a control freak are out the window. You really have to roll with life more. She’s given me a strong sense of peace and confidence to trust my instincts.”

Those instincts are undoubtedly being put to good use; Elisabeth — currently on the preschool prowl — reveals that Easton is becoming quite the talkative toddler! “She’s beginning to talk right now which is a tremendous milestone,” she says, “so that’s pretty exciting to see her really put her words together.”

Once admitting she had grown attached to her remaining pregnancy pounds, the Heroes star is back in full force when it comes to her exercise routine. “Chasing after a toddler and going back to work has helped,” she notes of her body after baby. However her greatest tool to shed the remaining stubborn pounds has been to hit the pavement running. “It’s something I can do in a short amount of time and I don’t have to be too pressured,” she explains.

Easton is Elisabeth’s daughter with Ron Wooster.

One More Story: An Online Library You (and Your Kids) Will Love!

OneMoreStory.com

One more story, please! How many times have you heard your little one say these words?

If you’ve heard it on more than one occasion, try OneMoreStory.com — a virtual bookshelf full of award-winning literature from authors such as Ezra Jack Keats, Donald Crews and more.

Aimed at ages 2-9, the site lets your child choose between having the book read to him/her or reading it alone. Under the narrator mode, the words are highlighted as the narrator reads the story. Plus, original music accompanies the reading.

If your tot is ready to read, pick the “I Can Read It” option which mutes the sound and lets them click on unfamiliar words for pronunciation tips.

Created by a former Sesame Street producer and his late sister (a former teacher) to help enrich a child’s love of literature, One More Story currently features 56 books. Click here to see the whole e-library (they’re currently adding a book a month). You can also check out how it works here.

A three month subscription is $15, a six month subscription is $27 and a year’s subscription is $44. It’s the perfect gift for mini book lovers!
