Kate Hudson Says Her Baby Has Become a Boy

Seth Browarnik/Startraks

While her ex-husband Chris Robinson will soon be experiencing with a newborn once again when he welcomes his second child in early 2010, Kate Hudson says her days in the baby phase — at least with their son Ryder Russell — have officially ended. “He’s a boy, the baby has become a boy,” she concedes to Extra.

The moment of truth for the actress came when she noticed Ryder’s reluctance as she kissed her son goodbye each morning. “Now I get at 6, already, he’s like, ‘Mommm, stop!’ Kissing is a little…Kissing him in front of his [friends], he’s starting to be like, ‘Mommm…’” Kate laughs.

According to Kate, her son’s heart has even been captivated by another woman: none other than her Nine costar Penélope Cruz! “He goes, ‘I saw Penéolope in the lobby today.’ And I went, ‘Penéolope?’” she laughs in regards to her son’s mispronunciation.

“I would see him look at Penélope and you could see that he definitely recognized what a beautiful woman she is.”

However, at the end of the day, Ryder only has his mama in mind when it comes to quality catch-up time. “I think it’s the last fifteen minutes of the day before he goes to bed that’s the best time,” Kate admits.

“You talk about things and he will fight sleep so he’ll just come up with crazy stories and wants to talk about things he wants to do. That’s my favorite part.”

haha my nephew who is eight is the same way!! My mom had to drop him off at school a few weeks ago and she said, “don’t I get a kiss?” he gave her this look and said, “mommom are you kidding me?”

boys are so funny! But they have no problems kissing up to their mama’s when they want something ;)

My son is 3 and he’s exactly like Ryder at bedtimes, that’s when he is at his funniest & will tell me all about his day. And trying to keep it interesting so I stay next to him and drag out bedtime. Its my favorite moment also. Actually, I am sure its a lot of parents’ favorite time…although I also love the moments when he first wakes up, he’s at his cutest & sweetest.

My son Xayne (8), does the same thing at night time to avoid sleep. We laugh until we have tears in our eyes. Kids are great! :)

I think baby carriers meant that Ryder still has long hair, which makes him look like a girl. At least that’s what I suspect. In the last pics I’ve seen of him he has long hair like his dad.

Although I doubt he’ll grow up into a girl, regardless of his hair length :)

He’s SO handsome Kate. Here’s one of my little Mom secrets with my boys. I have three boys and a girl. Boy/Girl twins will be 8 in Jan. Boys are 14 & 13. It broke my heart when my boys didn’t want to give Mommy a kiss or blow me a kiss and cross their chest for an air hug. When I was a little girl my Grandma would squeeze my hand twice to express her love. With my boys I explained I need a signal so that I can communicate “I love you” and you can say it back. I point at them and then do a thumbs up. I have seen my oldest in football lined up ready for the next play and give me this signal from a distance. It warms my heart every time.
