Peter Facinelli on More Kids: 'Never Say Never'

Beetham/Whittle/Splash News Online

Twilight star Peter Facinelli has made no secret of his belief that the “world is made for a family five.” Although he concedes in a new interview with Time Out New York Kids that he’ll “never say never,” he and wife Jennie Garth remain united in their content with their daughters Luca Bella, 12, Lola Ray, 6 ½, and Fiona Eve, 3.

The 35-year-old actor admits, however, that a subconscious desire to expand their brood might have been at play with one recent purchase. “We take our RV to our daughter’s soccer tournaments and we drove to Portland, Oregon this past summer,” Peter shares. “I just bought a new RV the other day.”

“We had a 33-foot and now we’ve moved up to a huge 40-foot Class A motor home. Who knows? Maybe I’m making room for one more child.”

With that said, Peter points out that maintaining the status quo would be undeniably easier. “When you get in a car, you can seat five comfortably,” he explains. “When you go out to dinner, you can seat five comfortably.” Although he grew up in a family of six, Peter says that times have changed. “Those were different days; Everyone climbed in the back of a Chrysler and your face was smashed up against the glass and nobody cared.”

There is also the element of time to consider – or lack thereof! When asked how he spends those rare days where he’s not working, Peter asks,

“What downtime? Any downtime I have is spent with my family, with my kids. In between one doing soccer and basketball, another doing horseback riding and the 3-year-old wanting to go to the park, I don’t have a lot of downtime.”

Even when he is filming, Peter remains a presence in the girls’ lives. “Last year I flew into L.A. on a Friday morning, picked up my kids from school, put up the Halloween decorations, had dinner with them and got back on a plane that night to go back to film,” he recalls, “But it was worth every minute that I got to spend with them.”

Dad and daughters also use Skype to communicate, and have even been known to share a meal despite the thousands of miles which separate them. “I’ll be eating ramen noodles and they’ll be having a wonderful home-cooked meal,” Peter says.

With this week’s highly anticipated release of New Moon – the second installment of the Twilight film franchise – even Peter’s daughters are getting in on the act, making their preferences of a love interest for lead character Bella Swan known.

“When I asked my 3-year-old what she liked about Twilight,” Peter shares, “she said Edward.”

New Moon opens Friday.

He seems like such a good and devoted father.

Of course, had to laugh at his daughter’s response to his question.

Poor kid, she already has bad taste…TEAM JACOB ;)

sounds like an awesome dad!

Fiona has good taste! Edward is yummy ♥

I can’t help but think what a bad example to his kids for being environmentally conscious. RVs are the most wasteful contraptions around and to go from 33 to 40 ft. just means more use of gas and the emissions spewing in the air. Whatever happened to just a hybrid van and pop-up tents or staying at a “green hotel”?

They are such a cute family. I’d love them to have one more! Has Jennie said if she’d like another?

- marlee on

marlee, Jennie has said in previous interviews that she would like a fourth child.

oh, c’mon “eternalcanadian” …why so negative?? his extra 7 ft. in his RV will not suck the universe dry!! Give us a break!! It’s not like he drives it to the supermarket everyday. They probably enjoy bonding as a family when they travel in it. Geez….we could complain about everything under the sun if we wanted to, huh?

- nan on

Kara- Yes, although just recently she said she’s content with the kids she has (not saying Peter isn’t!). :)

eternal canadians- Not sure what you mean by “pop-up tents” but if you’re referring to so-called “pup tents”, those are hardly the most comfortable things in the world! My family went tent camping a few times when I was a kid, and while we enjoyed getting to be up close and personal with nature, a few times was enough for us.

Looking back, we don’t know how we ever actually wanted to go tent camping!

My suggestion for an eco-friendly camper would be the type that you simply tow behind your car (i.e., the non-motorized type). :)

He’s a very good actor and I think He might be a good father too! =o)

i bet they are already expecting!! Jerry O’Connell did that when Rebecca was expecting twins but hadn’t announced it.

I think Fiona has great taste…TEAM Edward all the way…but I just named my newborn son’s middle name Carlisle due to my older kids request!

I think we’ll be hearing an announcement soon…

So funny complaining about the gas…. this is a father that is dedicated to his children and wants to spend time with them and teach them about the value of being a family and you still find something to bitch about…. what would be the cost difference if he took an SUV and spent the night in a hotel room and didn’t turn off the lights?

- Tina on

emmajh- If they’re expecting, then why has she mentioned it in any of her recent interviews?

- CelebBabyLover on

LOVE HIM! He is such amazing actor!
