Mini Must-Have: Suri Cruise’s Purple Ballet Flats!

Jae Donnelly/INF and Maloles

We have to admit, we’re loving Suri Cruise‘s fab footwear collection. From her chic heels to her cute sneakers, this mini fashionista has got it all.

Recently, we spotted her wearing a stylish pair of purple ballet flats. After some digging, we found out they are by Maloles a Paris-based brand of must-have flats and more!

Her specific style — the Celia ($162) — is made of super soft suede and sports a pretty satin bow on the heel.

Suri’s also wearing Juicy Couture‘s adorable Preppy Striped Cardigan (now $42, originally $94) in pink/grey, as well as, the Highlighter Baby Rib Skater Tank Dress ($22) in pink and Shiny Legging ($25) in lamé silver from American Apparel.

Crew Cuts has flats like those. Still expensive but not nearly as much.

- Jessica on

A child wearing $162 suede shoes in the rain? I think Suri Cruise’s fashion budget is way out of range for the average person.

- AJ on

Oh my goodness, $162.00 flats for a child? That is absolutely ridiculous! Oh let me take that back, $162.00 for flats for their children is like .05 cents to celebrities, not folks like us.

- Suzanna on

so after seeing so many pics of Suri and people always wondering why her hair is in her face the majority of the time, I believe it is to hide her ‘birthmark’ (not sure exactly what it is called) on the middle of her forehead.

- lindaloo on

That is totally waht I was thinking Cris! When Tom & KAtie kept her out of the public eye for soooo long my own mother had made a comment about how possibly the baby had a birthmark and that she said that I had a “stork bite” when I was born and it was smack dab in the middle of my forehead and would turn bright red sometimes and that she had hats on me till July (Ha Ha!) It faded with time and some children get laser treatment to lesson the brightness from the broken capalaries or something like that. I did notice when they finally brought Suri out for all to see that she had a noticable birthmark on her forehead and still has it though it has faded. Maybe the wild untamed hair is to cover it…who knows?

- DD on

Spending that much on a child’s shoes is frivolous and wasteful- celebrity or not.

- Lila on

If they were trying to hide Suri’s birthmark, wouldn’t it make more sense to give her bangs, like she had before?

Regarding Suri’s clothes: I like the way her parents combine exspensive items with more affordable ones. I think that’s what I would do if I was wealthy. I wouldn’t buy all my child’s clothes from those luxurious shops, but I see nothing wrong with splurging on some exspensive items if you can afford it.

- maria on

I’m sorry, but no matter how nice the shoes, if the hair is unruly, then poor Suri just looks unkempt.

Not her fault, but maybe her parents should take more care about her general appearance than her shoes. If a child is nice and tidy and wears 5 dollar shoes, it looks way better than a child with 160 dollar shoes and hair all over the place.

Nothing to do with me, though!

- Sarah on

I don’t understand all these money comments. If they want to spend money that way, why not? It could be spent in many worse (useless) ways…

- prisabella on

A little 4 y.o. at my preschool insists on wearing her long hair down and it’s always hanging in her face…drives me nuts but she insists and her parents don’t seem to care. Seems like Suri is expressing her personal preference. On another note, I want those flats in my size! Quite frivolous for a child but this is the Cruises…

- Forever Moore on

My almost 3 YO daughter refuses to have her hair brushed everyday too… it’s hard, and it drives my mother crazy, but frankly – it’s not worth the battle.
Katie has said Suri has a strong mind of how she wants to look, and I can empathize with that. Some little girls (and boys I guess) have very independent personalities and if hair is part of that independence, what is a parent to do?
Just because she’s photographed constantly doesn’t mean that Katie should have to make her look perfect all the time.

- Mrs. R. on

I would bet it didn’t cost more then $25.00 to make the shoes!! But with Suri I expect nothing less when it comes to her stylish ways :) It’s funny how one minute this child looks so grown up and sophisticated and then in other pics we see her cradled by her mother drinking from bottle! I think they’re parenting style is a little out there but I can’t help but think Suri is going to be gorgeous as she gets older!

- JMO on

Suri is a little kid.Who cares if her hair is a little messy.Kids aren’t suppose to look prim and proper 24/7,they are suppose to look like kids.People are always complaining she looks too adult like but then want complain when she shows a sign of not looking like one.

- Kayana on

I couldn’t imagine spending that much money on a pair of shoes for a child, regardless of how much money I make. Waste of money because they will be grown out of in 6 months, if not less time than that. Not to mention my daughter ruined a pair of shoes the first time she wore them – black mary janes (cost a whopping $5 from Target). She scuffed them up so bad I have to buy her another pair to get her picture taken with Santa this year.

- Me on

I just saw another picture of Suri on people
http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20319956,00.html#20704470
where she wears nice pigtails. However, she also wears these awful high-heels without any socks in winter – I assume it is quite cold in Boston, too? This is way more shocking to me than the unkempt hairstyle in this picture here.

- Elli on

Suri’s high heels was a “hot topic” on the View today. Most of the ladies agreed that Suri will eventually find they hurt and take them off and it’s not always worth the battle. A foot doctor said it could be harmful to her feet if she wears them all the time but wearing them occasionally for short time is okay. Funny how a 3.5 year old makes it on hot topics at the view!

- JMO on

In my book there are no must have shoes that cost $162 for a 3yr old – no matter how much money you have.

- Cerise on

My daughter just turned two and she has shirts and pants that she absolutely hates and will not wear, she throws a fit. It’s not worth the battle! I wish people would let up about Suri’s hair and outfits, some of you act like they are terrible parents! Come on

- Jessicad on

My mother’s attitude was that if my sister and I were too fussy to get our hair brushed, than it would be cut into a short bob. I don’t ever remember either of us putting up a fuss when it was time to have our hair brushed and combed. I am pretty sure I’ll feel the same way – if a child can’t handle having her long hair brushed, than it will be chopped! I’m not a patient enough woman to put up with constant battles if they can be avoided.

- que cera on

Her shoes look a lot darker than the ones pictured. Must be the lighting. They look comfy and cute!

- Terri on

Thanks for the fashion info but the best part of her outfit is undeniably the Disney Princesses umbrella!

- Alice on

i like the shoes but i really love the leggings! suri always looks great.

- mamanb on

Since none of us are flipping the bill, it doesn’t matter if her shoes are $20 or $520. She’s not your daughter so who cares?

As for the hair, I have a hard time believing that all three year olds, aside from Suri, have perfectly kept hair 24/7. Some kids don’t like their hair brushed. Other children run around. Unless the little girl is placed in a bubble, she’s also exposed to the elements. Wind, for example, causes hair to be blown around. Unless someone follows her around with a brush the entire day, there’s nothing you can do. Having her hair look “messy” would be the least of my worries if I was her parents.

- Liliana on

I don’t care how much the shoes cost, not my money. But I must say Juicy Couture is one of the most overrated and overpriced children’s label. All of their clothes look so cheap and yet they are $100 for a spaghetti strapped dress. Don’t get it. At least labels like Bonpoint and Rachel Riley (which is also horrendously overpriced) appear to be quality clothing.

- Jessica on

Do they ever do anything but shop? I see pictures of Jennifer Garner, Gwen Stafani, Jessica Alba, etc at the playground or pumpkin patches- it seems like all poor Suri gets to do is shop! And she never looks happy.

- Lila on

Her hair is messy?!?! Now people are commenting on a 3-year old because her hair is messy?!?!

Are are you picking on her parents, who don’t have enough sense to keep a hairbrush ready at ALL times, lest a photographer appear and a take a photo of a REAL child when her hair looks less-than-perfect-and-airbrushed?

I’ve been reading CBB for years and people are just getting out of control…. condescending and ridiculous.

Do people REALLY look at a picture of Suri Cruise and start wondering if the cut of her hair is to hide a hideous birthmark that her parents don’t want seen?

Do you REALLY look at pictures of her shoes and in your mind, immediately judge her parents for spending THEIR money on her clothing?

Then you must post on an anonymous internet board about what bad parents she has, and how you would never allow your child’s hair to be messy, and would never spend (the equivalent of) 5 cents on your child’s shoes no matter how much she loved them.

Wow. Just wow.

- Janna on

I am soo over the hair comments. My eldest DD who is now 6 often refused to wear her hair up and if I did put it up, she pulled it out. She also looked silly with a fringe (bangs) so by half way through the day she looked like this. What is the big deal?? We commend other celebrities for living their lives despite the paps so why should the Cruises be any different. They should not have to make sure that Suri is “photo ready” 24 hours a day, she should be allowed to be a child and if that means messy hair in the afternoon then so be it.

- Mel on

Lila, How do you even know that she’s going shopping in these pictures? I believe they were taken outside of the Cruises’ NY apartment. They could be going anywhere.
And Btw, there were photos of Tom, Katie, and Suri at a pumpkin patch last month. I’ve also seen plenty of photos of her at parks.

- maria on

My issue is not Suri, she is a child.I cannot comprehend how Tom and Katie continuosly expose and subject this little child to public ridicule/speculation/adoration.Yes they are entitled to take her where they see fit and dress her as they like. But I get the feeling that this child is being used as a public mascot to deflect attention from her father’s controversial beliefs. It is not my place or business to decide how this child should or shouldn’t be raised by her parents….but at some point little Suri will grow up and be forced to deal with the cruel world we live in…

- I'm judgemental on

With millions of children starving and dying everyday, I reaaly think they should spend their ,omeymore wisely. I think it is the more fortunates responsibility to give back. They made their money through the public anyway. I give money every single month to St. Jude and to a China orphanage. It’s not much but before I would splurge $200 dollars on one pair of shoes, I would buy 20 pair of cheaper ones for less fortunate kids who go barefoot daily.

- Kimri on

Janna,

‘Hideous birthmark’ …..your words. Why do you automatically assume the birthmark is ‘hideous?’ Extremely judgmental on your part.

- lindaloo on

I have a legitimate question for the hair critics. How do you propose little girls wear their hair? Are you against girls having long hair and wearing it plain and down? What if it’s neat, but just down and plain? I ask, partly because, I always planned on letting my daughter just have natural hair. Not tied back, or braided, or whatever, just down and simple. I would intend to brush it everyday, but I don’t like bows or headbands or ponytails. Also, I don’t think length makes a huge difference if the hair isn’t brushed and clean. Someone else mentioned cutting it into a bob if the child refuses to let you brush their hair, but a bob still needs maintained and brushed. Anyway, I was just curious what people think is an appropriately hair style for a young girl. Does it have to be pulled back? Because that gets uncomfortable.

- mrsh on

I have no problem with the price of Suri’s shoes, her parents can afford it and they do work for charity as well, so who are we to judge? Any comments related to the price is just pure jealousy. What does concern me is the constant inappropriate shoes Suri is pictured in. If it’s not heels (Suri was pictured wearing heels to the playground earlier this week!!!), it’s these flats that provide no structure or support. The flats are certainly much better than the heels as they are closer to going barefoot which actually isn’t bad for a little girl, but lets not forget cute as they are, Suri is a growing 3 year old girl, not a doll. There are plenty of cute shoes that provide support out there.

- Catca on

Thats silly $162 for slip on shoes, any parent with a level head would’nt spend that much on shoes like that.

- sarah on

So people commenting on the price of the shoes are horrible jealous human beings. It’s wrong to pick on a 3 year old etc…
But drooling over the “style” of the said 3 year old, calling her a mini fashionista that got it all, making a headline telling those flats are Must-have is perfectly OK.
Judgemental people are maybe not fun people to be around but blind worshippers of a child looks are not a fun party to me either.
But I’m the kind of person that tends to run the other way when someone uses the expressions must- see, must-have, must-buy.

- Cécile on

I have to agree with Janna.

Lindaloo…what is your deal?

- Amber on

Can someone please explain to me the problem with her having expensive shoes? It’s their money, and they clearly have enough of it, so how does it effect you? Do you have people telling you how you should spend your money too? It’s not like they spend all of this money and we are bailing them out…

That aside, Suri is adorable! She looks so girly all of the time/

- Erika on

Oh my goodness enough with the complaints! I hate hearing all the negative things about this cute little girl.. her hair is too messy, her shoes cost too much money, she needs a coat….

- Holly on

WELL SAID, ERIKA! THANK YOU! I am so sick of these NEGATIVE NELLIES on here that think their parenting ways are the only right way. Honestly people, grow up. She is a CHILD, and she ISN’T YOUR child. Go rag on your own kids’ if you feel the need to be negative.

- Marissa on

SURI:

Stylish
Unique
Radiant
Intriguing

- Marissa on

Broke people are always complaining. Just get some money and your kid can be like Suri. Jealousy is a disease, when I find a cure I will definitely hand it out for free.

Anyways. Suri is cute, her hair is fine, he parents have money and they can buy whatever they like. Why should they just let their money sit in the bank when they can spend it on their daughter? The only thing that bothers me are those kitten heels she wears.

- stedine on

Seriously if Suri( and her parents) got paid for the number of comments her pictures and post make, SHE WOULD BE A BILLIONAIRE BY NOW.

- True on

sorry, she may be a fashionista but I think her outfit looks pretty average.

- miaow on

People, for all we know, Tom and Katie donate money to charity on a regular basis, too!

Me- Not neccesarily. When I was a kid, more often than not, I litertally wore out shoes before I ever outgrew them (I admit I’m not sure if that was the case when I was Suri’s age, though). I’ve always had tiny feet, which simply never grew that fast when I was a kid. Therefore, rather than outgrowing shoes in six months, I usually had the same pair of shoes for two to three YEARS! Who’s to say Suri isn’t the same?

Liliana- I agree! I have long, thick hair myself, and no matter how much I brush it, it always ends up getting windblown when I go out!

- CelebBabyLover on

Also, as for why she’s wearing ballet flats in this picture….How do we know she wasn’t going to or from a ballet class (she has also been seen in a ballet tutu before, so it’s very likely she takes ballet)?

- CelebBabyLover on

For pete’s sake, it’s been a little windy on the east coast lately, cut the girl and the family some slack on the hair already. Some of you act like one quick photo of hair out of place means she is a dirty child.

Lindaloo, Janna was being sarcastic and it’s safe to say you knew that.

- J on

I don’t see the problem. They are multi millionaires. Katie Holmes also wears expensive clothes and shoes and carries handbags worth thousands of dollars….as do many other people who can afford it. Their children have no concept of how much things cost. Besides I wouldn’t be surprised if Suri gets most of her clothes for free in an effort to garner publicity for the designers. Forget about what the kid wears; let’s hope they’re raising her to be a good person and not some snotty brat.

- Chris on

I think it is more wasteful to spend money on cheap clothing and shoes that will fall apart before the child outgrows them. I often buy expensive and high quality things for my daughter and then I can give them away when she outgrows them because they are still in good condition.

- Paula on

To imjudgemental, I love how these people are out living their lives and YOU are on here judging them, but they are wrong.

- kristin17 on

This little cutie is so well dressed, but her parents have the $$ to dress her in a $300+ outfit. Most of us dress our little ones in $50 outfits, so if they get stained or dirty we don’t stress as much. I would love to see them donate Suri’s clothes when she out grows them and give the money to a children’s charity.

- NW Mamma on

I’m new to this site it seems like Suri always gets more comments than any other celebrities’kids. Am I correct or is this an aberration? Just Curious

- Joy on

It’s not about how much the shoes cost the wealthy Cruise family, as they certainly can afford them and quite possibly even got them for free. The problem is the way CBB is promoting the shoes as a “must-have” to people who are not celebrities and probably cannot afford or would not be willing to spend $162 on suede shoes for a child.

- AJ on

NW Mamma- Good point! How do we know that the Cruises don’t donate Suri’s clothes to charity after she outgrows them, or that they don’t save them for a possible future little sister of hers, or even possibly give them to family members with toddlers?

- CelebBabyLover on

I think Suri looks great …. I love her outfit.
With some kids you can brush their hair and it stays that way … other kids (mainly my daughter) you can brush their hair and 5 minutes later (if that long) you can’t tell it’s even been brushed …… and if the wind blows …. you can just forget it!

- Bancie1031 on

i just dont get it. the shoes are cute. no problem with the prices. but that is not a cute outfit. does the “fashionista” label come from just the cost of her clothes (which doesn’t seem that exorbitant to me – rather average?) because lately, she has just looked like a normal 3 year old who puts on whatever they find in their closet? weird. way better dressed celebrity kids.
