Ashley Jensen Welcomes Son Francis Jonathan

Francis Specker/Landov

It’s a boy for Ashley Jensen and her husband, actor Terence Beesley!

The Accidentally on Purpose actress welcomed son Francis Jonathan Beesley — he’s already going by the nickname of ‘Frankie Jack‘ — on Tuesday, October 20th, her rep confirms to PEOPLE, adding that mother and child are home and doing well.

The couple chose not to find out the sex of the baby before delivery, Ashley told Celebrity Baby Blog.

“We thought there are so few surprises left in the world,” the Emmy-nominated actress, 40, explains. “We wanted to be surprised, so we don’t have the room painted pink or blue.”

The couple, who eloped in January 2007 after seven years together, announced the pregnancy in July.

Ashley will be returning to work soon on the hit show Accidentally on Purpose, which airs Monday evenings at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

Aw! I love that name! Congrats to everyone! :)

What a lovely name. Was just thinking recently that if I had a son I may call him Francis, nice to see that a lot of celebs are picking more traditional names of late.

Congratulations to them both! I can’t say I like the name though! On a side note, I was wondering why she wasn’t on last nights episode of Accidentally On Purpose, but they must have filmed it around the time she was having the baby. :)

Love Frankie Jack, cute, not so keen on his traditional/full names personally, but congrats to the new parents on the safe arrival of their son…!

What a lovely name! Francis Jonathan is traditional and charming. Frankie Jack is just plain adorable.

She is positively stunning. Love the name! However not a huge fan of ‘Frankie Jack’!

- Eliza on

why not just name him Frankie Jack?

- Angela on

Ditto, Angela. Or I think Frank Jonathan would be better suited for the nickname Frankie Jack.

- Lis on

wow they managed to keep his birth quiet for a little while anyway! Love her, especially in Extras.

Love the name! Congrats to Ashley. Angela, I’m sure they wanted a more formal name for him to use when needed and a cute nickname to call him every day. I think their choice fits the bill.

CONGRATS!!!! I literally JUST had a conversation about how strange I think it is that there are people named John that are called Jack and people named Richard that are called Dick. LOL! I do NOT understand it at all! It’s soooooo strange to me! I think Frankie Jack is adorable though. They should have just went with that as the official middle name instead of Jonathan.

Angela- Well, can you imagine a grown man named Frankie Jack? They probably didn’t use that as his actual name because they knew it probably wasn’t something he’d want to put on job applications and things like that. :)

Okay and why do you care what his name is? Its HER son not any of yours. Stop blabbering about something thats really none of any of your buisness. Why didn’t you guys just show up at her house take the baby and name him yourself? Your all ridiculous
Bottom line is Congradulations to Ashley and Terrence

Not a biggie, but on the (UK) Hello magazine site announcing the birth, article says his nickname’s Frankie ‘Joe’, no mention of ‘Jack’? – Joe would make more sense in a way…@!

Frankie Jack is straight from her rep – not sure if the issue lies with him or Hello magazine.

Congratulations!

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve always seen Frankie used as a nick name for Francis. Nothing strange to me.
