I saw a video of that girl. If she REALLY didn’t say how old she was then I really can’t judge the guy that much. She looks definitely over the age of consent. She seems to be Roma, so I wonder if they have her age correct.

In regards to the 11 year old having a baby, she is definitely Roma (Gypsy for those who don’t know), and for them, having a baby young is the norm. I’m not condoning it or anything, but not only is it more normal for them to have children at a younger age, but she also looks much older than 11.

I agree it’s wrong and scary, but honestly, I can’t blame the guy either. It’s not his fault that she lied.

Robyn and Electra, how can you tell she’s Roma? Just curious, I’m not familiar with this stuff, so I like to know.

I was also inclined to believe that the 11 year old mother was Romani. This article confirms it.Like Robyn said,it’s shocking and I am not in agreement with this but if the little bride was not forced to have sex or marry I guess there’s nothing that can be done for now.
Erika: the article says they had a 3 day wedding according to Roma tradition.

Oh okay, thanks Eva!

Watching the video and comparing her to my own 11 year old sister, she does look older than her actual age. While I don’t condone her actions, it’s obviously a different culture where marriage and pregnancy occur at a young age.

The only part that truly saddens me is that she is not returning to school.

I don’t doubt that he didn’t know how old she was, but they met at a playground… wouldn’t he think a 15 year old at a playground was a little weird?

- Kate on

LOL! Kate, I’m going to the park with a playground tomorrow with my dog. I’m 28! I think everyone frequents playgrounds. :)

But I’m sad that there is even a culture like this in the world…
