Cole Hamels Welcomes Son Caleb Michael

Tom Walck/PR Photos

It’s a boy for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels and wife Heidi Strobel, a Survivor: The Amazon alum.

The couple welcomed Caleb Michael Hamels at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 9th, mere hours after Cole served as the starting pitcher in Game 2 of the Phillies National League Division Series with the Colorado Rockies.

Heidi reportedly went into labor around 4 p.m. on Thursday — during the game itself — but told team officials not to alert Cole until his day on the mound was done. Cole was pulled in the bottom half of the fifth inning in favor of a pinch hitter, received the news that his baby boy was on the way, and immediately departed Citizens Bank Park.

After spending some time with his wife and Caleb at Lankenau Hospital in suburban Philadelphia, the Phillies say they expect that Cole will re-join his team in Denver this weekend for Games 3 and 4 of the series.

The couple announced the pregnancy in July.

Solange Says Co-Parenting 'Definitely Has Its Challenges'

Jun Sato/WireImage

At only 23-years-old, there is no shortage of opportunities for Solange Knowles in the entertainment industry. However as mom to Daniel Julez, turning 5 this month, the singer insists her top priority has always been — and will always be — motherhood.

“A lot of people feel like their life has to stop because of the child and they have to let go of their interests. You definitely have to compromise some of them, but I’ve been really blessed,” she reveals in the November issue of Honey magazine.

According to Solange, a mantel adorned with awards is secondary to her dedication to Julez.

“I have to say no to a lot of things because at the end of the day I know that no matter how many awards or accolades or praise or money I get, the one thing that really is a judgment of me is what kind of mother I am.”

Fortunately, Solange and her ex-husband Daniel Smith are determined to co-parent their son, sharing equal custody and coordinating their schedules accordingly. “I try not to ever be away from him unless he’s with his dad,” she explains.

For Solange, that time includes both everyday activities as well as life on the road. “When I went to see Grace Jones, Julez was right there with me. Julez is right there with me when I go for my bike rides. And when I go on tour, he’s with me,” she says.

To that end, traveling the globe with his mom is something Julez never takes for granted, notes Solange. “I don’t think he realized it in the beginning,” she says of her celebrity status, “but the good thing is that he’s humble about it.” And, according to the proud mama, humble is how he will remain.

“If I ever see that he’s not, he will get snapped back before he can blink his eyes.”

Not pictured is the couple’s eldest child, 7 ½-year-old Lucas Alexander.

In the May issue of Vogue, the 27-year-old supermodel credited motherhood with giving her a new perspective on the industry which made her famous. “I don’t do it because it is superfun or because I get to travel or because it brings fame,” she explained. “It is what I do for a living. And that puts everything in the right place.”

Sharon Stone Opens Up About 'a Trauma You Just Cannot Bear'

David Aguilera/FilmMagic

When Sharon Stone suggested that the 2008 Sichuan earthquake — which resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands — was “karma” for China’s mistreatment of Tibet it drew understandable criticism from the world at large. The 51-year-old actress and mom-of-three acknowledges as much in a new interview, but says that her reaction was based at least in part on her own private maternal suffering.

“I had two pregnancies that I lost in the late fifth month,” she reveals to Prestige magazine, “And this is so awful because I had to go have surgery when my children died.”

Calling the experience “a trauma that you just cannot bear,” Sharon says that her grief was only magnified by the 8.0 magnitude earthquake.

“I was in some kind of crazyville. The horrific loss of those people’s children caused me tremendous grief. I was relating to this earthquake like some kind of crazy mother.”

So “grief-stricken” was Sharon privately, her public actions were the manifestation of all she had lost. “I was really relating to their grief,” she explains before adding,

“I had lost children myself. All of that was really heavy upon me. I was really speaking as a heartbroken mother.”

Sharon is mom to sons Roan Joseph, 9, Laird Vonne, 4, and Quinn Kelly, 3.

Tina Fey Dishes on Daughter's Parental Confusion

Courtesy Harper’s Bazaar

While some celebrity moms opt to stretch their cares away at yoga, Tina Fey is definitely not among them. Noting that “even yoga classes go on 80 or 90 minutes,” the 39-year-old actress, executive producer and writer tells Harper’s Bazaar she hasn’t got the time. “I’ll do grave yoga,” she quips. “Someone can come and stretch me in my grave.”

For now, Tina has more than enough to keep her occupied between a busy career and an even busier daughter, 4-year-old Alice Zenobia, as is evident when she’s asked to describe a typical day.

“Work, come home, play, kid bounce, work again, go to bed.”

When it inevitably all comes to a head, Tina admits she will momentarily fear that she is “cracking up”  — but says it’s nothing to be ashamed of. “Sometimes you just need a minute to say, ‘I think I’m cracking’ and just acknowledge it,” she jokes. As for Alice, she recently did some cracking up of her own! Tina recalls,

“Last weekend she started chanting, ‘Daddy is my mom! Daddy is my mom!’”

Alice is Tina’s only child with husband Jeff Richmond.
