Rob Lowe Dishes on Emmy Night With His Boys

Scott Kirkland/INF

The 61st Annual Emmy Awards were a family affair last month for actor Rob Lowe and his two sons Matthew Edward, 16, and John Owen, 13. “My guys…I even got them to wear ties [to the ceremony], that’s the amazing thing,” the 45-year-old actor noted during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The boys “were happy” to attend alongside their dad, who noted that “they’ve never done anything like that” before because he and wife Sheryl Berkoff “kept them away [from Hollywood] until they were old enough to sort of get it.” The evening exceeded their every expectation, Rob adds.

“They’re big thing was, they were just thrilled that we had better seats than the guys from Entourage. I was like, ‘Yeah, Daddy’s still got his fastball.’ They’re my best buds for sure.”

One thing father and sons won’t be doing together anytime soon? Rob’s new favorite pastime — heliskiing. Just as it sounds, heliskiiers take a helicopter to a remote mountaintop, where they are dropped to ski down without the aid of a trail. “It’s doing something very dangerous, to do something even more dangerous,” Rob explains before adding, “I have not taken the kids.”

From the sound of things, that status quo will be maintained for some years to come!

“They want to go. That’s a little bit of a discussion at home. [Sheryl] is like, ‘Are you crazy?’ I think we’re going to have to wait until they are at least old enough to shovel me out.”

Jennifer Garner Travels to Toronto Solo – Much To Family's Chagrin!

Juan Rico/Fame

As she promoted her new film The Invention of Lying at The Toronto Film Festival, Jennifer Garner did so without her two children Violet Anne, 3 ½, and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 9 months, in tow. The change of pace was tough for all involved. “The family acted like I was going to the moon,” she shares in a new interview before adding,

“Even though [husband] Ben [Affleck] is there with the children and they will be fine, Violet was wondering, ‘Where is Mom going?’ We travel together all the time.”

One thing the family-of-four won’t be doing together anytime soon is shooting a film, with Jennifer in front of the camera and Ben directing. “He is not the world’s fastest director, and I like to get in and do my work and go home and put the kids to bed,” she explains. “I’m afraid there would be this moment where I would say, ‘OK. You’ve got it. I promise you it is in the can. I’ve got to go home.’”

There are also long stretches away from home to contend with, which makes the prospect of returning to the small screen increasingly appealing to the 37-year-old former Alias star. Jennifer notes,

“I never say never to TV because it has been really good for me. I am not a snob about work. The great thing about TV is you can stay in one place. Eventually my kids aren’t going to want to be living all over the place. Television would allow us to settle down.”

The Invention of Lying is in theaters now.

VTech Kidizoom Plus: For Pint-Size Photographers

VTech Kidizoom Plus

Ever since our baby Ella was born in June, my husband and I have been snapping pictures left and right, capturing those precious first months of our newborn’s life. And thanks to VTech’s Kidizoom Plus camera ($60), our 8-year-old daughter has joined in on the photography fun!

Designed for ages three to nine, this camera is more sophisticated than other kiddie toy cameras we’ve tried. With a memory big enough to store 2000 photos, it’s digital and has a 2.0 pixel resolution for super sharp images.

Despite its many cool features, the Kidizoom Plus is surprisingly easy to use. My daughter figured it out in a few minutes and loves the photo editing feature that allows her to distort images (of dear old Mom!) or embellish them with horns, oversized lips or silly frames. Though I expect she’ll soon find these special effects too babyish, the five hand-held games on the camera — such as Jigsaw or Dance with Me — are unlikely to lose their appeal.

My favorite part of the camera, though, is the video feature which allows budding directors to shoot up to 10 minutes of home movies. Cables are also included so the whole family can view the masterpieces on a TV screen.

– Joanne, a Manhattan mother of aspiring writer, Olivia, 8, and cuddly newborn Ella, three months, is always on the lookout for stylish yet durable clothing and gear for her family

Luke Bryan Says Fatherhood Is 'What Life's All About'

Jason L. Nelson/AdMedia

Although Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline parted ways for more than five years after he graduated from college, the 33-year-old country crooner says that when they reunited there was little doubt where that meeting would lead. “We knew the second from the first time we saw each other that we would get married, start a family and all that,” he tells OK! “It was pretty cool.”

The couple’s dreams came true with the birth of son Thomas ‘Bo’ Boyer, 18 ½ months. “It’s the best thing ever,” Luke shares. “It makes life so fulfilling; It’s what life’s all about.” And, like any proud first-time father, Luke can’t help but dish on baby boy’s latest and greatest accomplishments.

“[Bo] just learned how to blow kisses and it rocks when he does it because he smacks real loud.”

Luke says that his family-of-three enjoys “riding through the country,” and dreaming of the future along the way. “We try to do that once a week and go look at dream farms,” he shares. “We ride out to Leipers Fork [Tennessee] and look at big horse farms. Maybe one day we’ll get to have something like that.”

Chariot Cougar 2: Two If By Bike

Chariot Cougar 2

Maybe you first noticed Chariot carriers when you saw Jennifer Garner with one. Or maybe you noticed a neighborhood mom towing kids to preschool in one that’s attached to the back of her bike. Perhaps your friend takes her kids cross-country skiing with hers. Whatever your introduction, it’s now time for you to get to know these amazing kid-carriers a little better.

Chariot is a well-known, Canadian-made bike trailer (and then some). The company calls the Chariot X-Country series “adventure carriers” but I like to think of them as SUVs for kids… and parents! And that’s why — for the first time ever — I’m turning to my husband for some help with this review. He has long been drooling over Chariot carriers so when the Cougar 2 ($675) came our way, he was quick to lunge for the box and set it up. But if he’s going to get all the fun, then I think he’s going to have to do some of the work, too! And so here we offer (mostly from the dad-perspective for a change) our take on the Chariot Cougar 2.
