Minnie Driver on Her Easy Traveler Henry

Mike/Splash News Online

Minnie Driver said during a Wednesday visit to Live! with Regis and Kelly that her 13-month-old son Henry Story has benefited from mom’s frequent flyer status in more ways than one. “He will sleep [anywhere],” Minnie says — including the closet! “I’ll put him in the quietest place we’re in,” she explains.

“If we’re in a hotel and the quietest place is the walk-in closet, then the crib goes in there. He sleeps in the bathroom [too].”

When mother and son are en route to their latest destination, Minnie says that Henry is just as easy.

“He walks up and down the aisle [of the airplane] and pats people on the arm and bows his head,” she says. “He’s kind of like the Pope. Little benedictions for everybody!”

Minnie and Henry — whom she calls “the great story” of her life — were recently in Nashville, where the 39-year-old actress and singer performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and where Henry put on a show of his own. “He played backstage,” Minnie recalls with a smile. “He played piano.”

As she makes the media rounds in promotion of Motherhood, Minnie couldn’t help but think back to making the film on the streets of New York while heavily pregnant. “There was a heat wave, and it’s like you have a heater inside you when you’re pregnant anyway,” she explains. “There were definitely some moments where it was pretty challenging.”

The temperature outside turned out to be the least of her worries, however.

“The paparazzi…they were really hoping my water would break on the corner of Sixth Avenue. I felt like they were kinda like, ‘Hey is she gonna go? We’re gonna get it.’ It was so awful.”

Next up for Minnie and Henry? Halloween! “He’s going to be the crocodile hunter and I’m the crocodile,” she shared.

Padma Lakshmi Plays the Baby Name Game

 alt= Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Padma Lakshmi may have a bun in the oven, but she swears it’s no “Pomegranate,” the Top Chef judge tells PEOPLE, poking fun at creative celebrity baby names.

“I just want to see how the baby looks when it comes, and then I’ll have some ideas,” said Padma, displaying her curvy figure in a long, low-cut Gucci gown while posing with Iman at Keep A Child Alive‘s annual Black Ball, held Thursday at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Given her own background, Padma, 39, indicates that the baby’s moniker will be Indian-influenced.

“The name will have to do with my family,” she says. “I don’t think it’s going to be called ‘Pomegranate’ or ‘Atlanta.’”

Padma says she has yet to fix up a baby room or create a college fund for her unborn child.

“I’m Indian,” she said by way of explaining her superstition. “So we don’t buy a whole bunch of stuff before the baby is born, because we want the baby to be born first. Not the cart before the horse!”

In terms of eating for two, “I eat the same, just more often,” she said. “Everything from movie theater nachos to spinach and apple salad. Everything. I’m not eating so much more. You only need 300 more calories. It’s not a reason to pig out.”

As for the father, whom she has declined to name, Padma replies “I don’t know” when asked if  there will be a big reveal one day. “But I don’t want to talk about it either way. I’m extremely happy, and I feel really blessed.”

Padma is due in late March/early April.

The Name Game: Middle Ground

Many expectant parents love the look and sound of an exotic name for their baby-on-the-way, but can’t quite pull the trigger when it’s time to sign the birth certificate. If this sounds like you, nameberry.com co-founder Pamela Redmond-Satran says that you can have your cake and eat it too.

“Middle names used to be either placeholders — the Anns and Lynns and Lees of the 50s and 60s — or a way to honor Great-Uncle Philip (in hopes that he’d leave you all his money),” she explains. “Today, middle names are often a place to use a wilder name than parents might want to use in first place, and one that may have ethnic or other individual significance.”

Heidi Klum and Seal did just that one week ago today, when they welcomed daughter Lou Sulola. An African name, Sulola honors Seal’s heritage just as the couple’s sons Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo have done with their own middle names. Likewise, Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa paid homage to dad’s Hawaiian roots with son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakacha.

Ione Skye and Ben Lee paid tribute to India with Goldie Priya; Pronounced pree-ah, the name is Sanskrit for beloved and means an individual type of beauty. Celebrity chef Tom Colicchio went a similar route with Luka Bodhi, with Bodhi being Sanskrit for “awakening” and a Buddhist term that means an escape from the cycle of birth, karma, and death. Spirituality has factored into the middle name selections of other celebrities, like Golden Brooks and D.B. Woodside‘s daughter Dakota Tao.

Taye Diggs on Childbirth: 'It Was Crazy'

AP/Courtesy of Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs

Calling wife Idina Menzel “a warrior” for delivering their 6-week-old son Walker Nathaniel naturally without pain medication, Taye Diggs opened up about the happy day during a Thursday visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“It was amazing. I was holding her hands and cheering her on,” he reveals. “I said I would look two times. I would look when the baby was crowning, and I wanted to look right when Walker came out.”

“Then when he came out, all of a sudden it was like my inner gangster came out. I was like, ‘Yeah baby, you did that thing, that’s what I’m talkin’ about, that’s my boy!’”

Adding that “it was crazy” and that he “couldn’t control” himself, Taye likened the experience to “the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, everything wrapped up into one.”

There were some tense moments leading up to Walker’s debut, and watching Idina experience childbirth in full was almost too much to bear. “When that first pain hit her and I saw her face, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to be in this other room…’” the 38-year-old actor jokes.

Things got off to a far more mellow start, however. “There was something going on that morning, so we knew, ‘Okay, this is going to be a special day,”‘ Taye explains. “She said, ‘Go off to work, and if I need you, I’ll call you.’”

When that call came, Taye was ready!

“In the movies and on TV, you always hear everybody’s rushing, but everyone is telling me when it actually happens, there is no need to rush. There’s no need to speed. So on the way home, I was constantly telling myself, ‘Relax, relax, be cool.’”

After arriving at the hospital “the labor really start[ed] to kick in,” Taye added, and ultimately lasted between seven and eight hours.
