9 or 10 days is simply an average, and depending on the length of your luteal phase and when you conceive during ovulation, it is possible to implant on the day that your egg is fertilized. Please go to medical school (like I did) before giving out medical advice. You undermine all of us with your invalid information, and we deserve recognition for our hard work. Thanks!

Dear "Doc" - The length of a woman's luteal phase has nothing to do with when the blastocyst implants in the uterine wall. Implantation can take place at 7 days past ovulation for a woman with a 16 day luteal phase, 10 days past ovulation for a woman with an 11 day luteal phase; the length of her secretory phase makes absolutely no difference.

Further, with respect to "when you conceive during ovulation" -- a female human can conceive only once during ovulation, after the egg is released, and the egg lives at most 24 hours. Sperm can live in the Fallopian tubes for several days...but a woman's egg is viable for only a short period. Therefore, conception does not begin to occur until after ovulation takes place.

Lastly, it's impossible for the egg to implant on the day it is fertilized. It takes the fertilized egg (called a zygote) several days to travel down the Fallopian tubes to the uterus, and implantation does not even begin to occur until this journey is complete.

Hope this helps...from a wife, mom of three, and general practitioner who wanted to clear up this "invalid information" so pompously provided for your obfuscation.
