What happens when a pair of self-taught “creative types” hole up in a house in Oakland with a pile of felt and a dream? Modern playclothes magic, in the form of Jasper Hearts Wren.

We’re loving the funky, fresh designs Of owners (and moms) Heather Jennings and Lisa Schwartz. They put washable felt cut-outs made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles on everything from dresses to hoodies to tote bags. Their super cute rocket ships, robots, popsicles and more are all hand-stitched on sweatshop-free cotton. And if appliques aren’t your thing, they also offer a smaller collection of printed onesies.

The details are darling, including big chunky buttons that serve as birdie eyes. Hoodies range in size from 2T-6T, dresses from 6-12 months to 2T-3T and onesies from 3-6 months to 6T. My absolute favorite item in the line — an apron dress — is one-size fits all. Once it becomes too short, just let your little one wear it as a tunic with jeans and a t-shirt.

Prices, which range from $30 to $65, are a bit pricey, but for hand-stitched, eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind apparel it’s worth the price. Besides, where else can you find a corn dog onesie?

Such a great clothing line! I got a rocket hoodie and two onsies a year ago and they are so well made and such a classic style that they went from my son to my daughter and looked terrific on both. Plus it feels great to support small, green businesses! Highly recommend…
