Tom Cruise and Suri Make Nice With Nature

It was a weekend park playdate for the Holmes-Cruise family! Enjoying their time in Massachusetts while Tom films his latest movie Wichita, the actor, his wife Katie, and daughter Suri spent their Saturday afternoon at the Charles River Basin in Cambridge after grabbing cupcakes at Sweet Cafe.

The inquisitive 3-year-old took her time exploring the park — stopping to check out what lies beneath a park bench! — before challenging her parents to a quick race and later heading down to the water where she hopped rocks with a bit of help from dad.

Suri Cruise is a very stylish young lady. Sometimes I think she needs a ponytail or some barrettes, her hair seems to be wild and in her eyes alot.

- GeorgiaMOM on

What an awesome picture…They should get a copy and frame it.

- Ava on

Suri is very very beautiful!

- Blackrose on

Well at least he’s wearing a sweater. Suri is rarely in jackets and coats, even during the Fall in New England.

- Lacey on

Adoring look on her face and adorable picture of them both! I can finally see Tom in her in this picture. Love it!

- Miche on

It was a beautiful day on Saturday (and Sunday) in the Boston area.
What a wonderful picture

- Jane on

Somebody put a jacket on that girl – she is constantly photographed in Boston with a sundress on and it’s been very CHILLY here lately.

- LuLu on

Hey, she must be a tough kid–she doesn’t seem to suffer from not wearing coats and sweaters!

- Liz on

I saw this pic earlier on a different website. Look how adorable Suri looks in this picture:

http://www.radaronline.com/photos/image/24509

- Kristi on

Beautiful pics, Suri is so adorable.

- Amy on

Thanks for the link, Kristi! Stunning photos. Say what you want about this couple – clearly Suri is a very happy little girl. Tom and Katie seem to be doing a good job. =) It also appears Suri does not like to wear jackets or coats, I’ve noticed she often has a blanket wrapped around her instead. I’m the same way, always have been. My mom tells me she couldn’t keep me in a coat when I was Suri’s age…

- gargoylegurl on

she’s just so pretty!

- kmb on

I love seeing Suri smile. She’s such a beautiful little girl.

- Bancie1031 on

Nice photo of Dad and Suri. The pictures on the other link are cute too. Katie looks so good..very natural and relaxed.

- kris on

Love this pic! And I agree with a previous posted who said with this pic she can finally see Tom in Suri. Very cute

- Madison on

Suri is such an adorable girl!
The whole coat thing annoys me.
I’m sure her parents wouldn’t let her freeze and would give her a coat, sweater or blanket if she needed it.

- Rhea on

This is such a beautiful picture! I love it!

- Stephany on

oh i really wish people would stop harping on about this whole coat thing. are you really arrogant enough to presume that you constantly know whether or not suri is feeling hot or cold better than her parents or she herself does. she is 3 years old, she can speak and can tell them if she is cold, not to mention, i don’t know about you, but i can tell just from touching my kids’ hands or faces whether or not they could need a jacket. just get over it people. i can’t believe that you don’t feel ridiculous about posting such a stereotypical post every time there is a suri story. i would feel embarrassed to be one of those people who gets upset because i in my all knowingness KNOW that she is cold and needs a jacket, or that i can’t look at a picture like the one above and getting all antsy because her hair isn’t combed back tightly and in a ponytail. it’s not even as if it’s untidy, just loose and looking like a 3 year old’s hair should look, like her mum isn’t obsessive and running around after her with a hairbrush.

i’m sorry to rant, but i wouldn’t mention it if it didn’t come up in every single suri post. it is a bit ridiculous guys, you have to admit.

- JM on

Some kids can’t stand wearing coats, hats, mitts, etc and I was one of them…to this day I hate it. GET OVER what this kid wears. She wears too many dresses, no coat, blah, blah, blah.

- Jane on

Suri in a sundress in the fall! Dad in a sweater. Mom in a sweater and scarf! What else is new. It’s either one of two things: Katie prefers not to cover up Suri’s outfits so the papparazzi can capture the whole outfit or Suri’s gets what Suri wants and that is to wear whatever she wants regardless of the weather or season. Suri is going to be a real challenge at 15 years old.

- joan on

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
WHY isn’t Suri wearing a coat?
WHY isn’t Suri’s hair EVER pulled back?
WHY is Suri wearing $98 shoes?

Can’t you just say “cute, happy little girl” and be DONE WITH IT?

Suri is not your child so the Cruises parenting style should be NONE of your concern.

DO you know how many times I would LOVE to go up to some parents and say:
WHY are you allowing your kid to race back and forth in a restaurant?
WHY are you negotiating with your kid to come OUT from UNDER the table in a restaurant?
WHY did you bring your toddler and/or baby to a movie theater?

Now those are the kind of questions that I would like to see asked.

- mamabear on

i’m sorry, i am on of those people who always wonder about the coat thing. yes, suri looks comfortable and happy, but when the parents are in long pants, sweaters, hats, scarves, socks, shoes, and suri is in a sundress and that is all… can’t help it… perhaps the parents are just dressing fashionably for the camera (because there is always a camera) and it really isn’t that cold, but yes, for the people this irritates, it does make you wonder, why isn’t she dressed for the weather if they are?

- lallaloolly on

Jeez…so she in not wearing a coat. Does she look sickly or uncomfortable? No she does not! Seriously people…

- Abby's Mom on

AMEN, MAMABEAR!!!! My gosh, I get so sick of people, they never have anything nice to say! DO NOT COMMENT ON A PHOTO IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT. It isn’t rocket science, and these message boards are better used for people who think that Tom, Katie, and Suri are a loving little family, myself proudly included. I am sure that Suri is well fed, loved, is just fine. I think you people are just jealous, why else would you nitpick on an innocent 3 year old?? Get over yourselves.

- Lauren on

I try VERY hard to ignore all the negative comments but I really have to say something here…It must be that all these parents that keep harping on Suri’s hair, not wearing a jacket or her $98 shoes, are well PERFECT!! and that they have NEVER had an issue with a young child wanting to be independant..Well bravo, tell me how you do it cuz I would LOVE to know!!

- Jasmine C. on

Well said, JM, mamabear and Lauren!

- gargoylegurl on

Forget about the sweater…watch out for ticks!

- Holly on

Yes, well said JM, Mamabear, Lauren and others. :D

- J on

Such a pretty little girl….

Not surprising to see the Sanctimommies hijack another comments section, lol.

- Christine on

Suri never wore jackets last year – I think the child would put something on if she’s cold. And what child’s hair doesn’t get messed up while playing outside…I never hear comments about Shiloh’s hair. And infact many people applaud Angi for letting Shiloh just be who she is. Well folks….Meet Suri!

- JMO on

suri is cute!

- cassie on

Everyone is always so negative about this cute little girl and her family. I never see anything wrong with her or them. They seem happy, lovely and quite real.

- finais on

she’s adorable! I wish people would stop with all the comments about her coat though. I’m guessing she is one of those kids that doesn’t like wearing a coat & will take it off regardless. It’s not like Tom and Katie are completly disregarding the fact that the temperature is dropping and theres a chance she’ll get cold .. they always seem to have a blanket on hand. I also took a quick look at the weather there, and it looks to be anywhere between 8-15 degrees C. That really isn’t that cold especially when you take into account that she’s in the sun and running around!

- jammaj on

I love this picture. It’s looks so natural, messy hair and smiles on both of them!

- Julie on

Help me out here. . . Why is it so upsetting that people wonder why Suri is apparently not dressed appropriately for the weather? It seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to think about when you see a photo like this. It’s not exactly a mean or hateful thing to wonder about, is it?

Mamabear, there is a big difference in making a comment on a website about public figures in a photograph and walking up to a family in public and verbally assaulting them. It’s not the same thing.

At any rate, Suri’s really cute! I’m a big Tom Cruise fan!!

- computerag on

If you look at the link someone posted, Katie is holding a Suri size sweater. And they have a blanket, so obviously, they do think about those things. And Suri is running around in a park. Even when it is cold, if you are running and such, you will get warm. I know guys who snowboard in shorts and a t-shirt, because they get to warm in snow gear.
Also, my son is 2 months younger than Suri and while I will bundle up in PJ’s and a heavy blanket, he sleeps in his undies and not even a sheet because he tells me he too hot. He has run warm his whole life. Some people do, my sisters, they are always cold. One wears sweaters and jackets in the summer in LAS VEGAS!
I agree with those saying Suri has her own personality. My son is quick to tell me if he needs or doesn’t need something. That doesn’t mean Suri or my son is spoiled. It means we let them be independent and live their own lives, putting our foot down when we need too.

- Dori on

the kid is gorgeous. she looks just like her mom.

- me on

I was in the Boston area this Saturday and wore a wool sweater with jeans and boots. I was totally comfy, so given the fact that Suri wears sleeveless dresses in 40 degree weather I’m surprised she wasn’t naked :)

I think it’s well established that Suri dresses inappropriately for the weather and find it funny how indignantly defensive some people get over a child they have nothing to do with. Really makes you wonder about some people…

- Lauren on

She still needs a ponytail and a coat.

- GeorgiaMOM on

I’m sorry but I HAVE to say this!

Here we are talking about Suri again and ALL the coat comments are here and YET just the other day there was a post on here about Jason Priestly and his daughter Ava didn’t have a jacket on and they were in Canada …. now correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it colder in Canada then in Boston? So where are the comments on their post about Ava not having on a coat???

HUMMM seems like a double standard to me.

- Bancie1031 on

Bancie, Jason Priestley was photographed INSIDE an airport building. That’s not the same as going for an extended walk in the park.

However, it’s obvious Suri doesn’t care, doesn’t want a coat. So there’s no point going on about it. I do think the whole blanket thing is strange. They always have to carry her. She’s not a baby anymore.

- Tracy on

JUST GORGEOUS!

- Susannah on

Nice pic of father and daughter, no arguing that fact, but I gotta say… what’s all the hype with Suri? Who cares about the cost of her shoes or if she has a jacket on? I am confident Tom and Katie are responsible “switched on” parents! As a side note, if she was not the daughter of Tom and Katie would we really think she was “gorgeous”? She is a very average little girl but no genetically blessed Shiloh…

- JMO on

no doubt she is pretty, when u have such a handsome and cute father then its not ur fault. u have 2 b beautiful.

- farah lodhi on

My son is 2.5 and he is always hot, he is constantly sweating while playing and never sleeps with a blanket. Some people are like that, especially active kids.

Suri is a pretty girl and she is a perfect mix of Katie and Tom.

- Mrs.B on

Bancie1031- You and I are thinking the same thing! :)

Dori- I couldn’t agree more! Some people tend to be “warm-blooded”, others “cold-blooded”. My father, for example, has been known to wear long pants and sweaters (albeit usually only in the mornings with the latter!) in the middle of summer. I, on the other hand, am like Dori’s son, and usually sleep with only a sheet, if that. I also wear T-shirts year-round (I don’t even own a sweater or any other long-sleeved shirts. I just can’t stand them! And forget turtle necks! Besides making me too warm, all they do is make me want to constantly itch my neck!), and frankly, on some of the hottest days of summer, I only wear clothes because it’s illegal to go out in public naked!

Suri may be “warm-blooded” as well. Bottomline: I agree with all the posters who have said that Tom and Katie probably aren’t going to let Suri freeze, and Suri would probably tell them if she was cold. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

That kid just oozes personality !!! She is gorgeous.

Dare I say it, but Tom is looking hot again. (He still gives me the heebie jeebies though)

- Cara on

Double standards all around. Suri is very very pretty and is goner be a looker. Love this picture.

- Anne on

Mamabear, I can answer at least one of those burning questions for you- I took my baby to the theatre b/c that’s the only way I got to go see movies. I stopped taking her when she hit about 7 or 8 months old and it was impossible to satisfy her just by feeding her. But to be honest, I wore her in a wrap, all I had to if she started to fuss was offer her my breast (under the wrap, where no one could see anything), and that was it, she would wind up passing out every time. Once she got to old, I stopped taking her. I never once had a problem, no one else was ever bothered by it. Most of the time no one even knew there was a baby there! So, there you go. That’s why I took a baby to the movie theatre.

Oh and I would be negotiating with a child under the table b/c to be quite honest, I would think people would appreciate it more if they were quietly playing under a table than if I were to drag them out kicking and screaming, knowing that they would not stop screaming after that until the meal was over, just so I can prove that Mom’s the boss. Make sense?

As for letting a child run wild all over a place, I don’t get that one either. *shrug* It’s not that hard to get a kid to stay where you are. Even if they’re under the table. :)

Suri is an absolute doll. This is such an adorable picture of her and her (hot) daddy. I love seeing pics of her. I would really love to see them have another baby, but they have plenty of time for that!

- Shannon on

What a great photo, love it! :)

- Lisa on

Why do the pictures of Katie and Tom with Suri always look so staged? Hmmmm.

- Carolyn on

Am I the only one who remembers last winter. Everyone said the same thing. “Put a jacket on her” Tom was quote saying that Suri HATES jackets and coats!!!!! She refuses to keep them on.

Honestly, what difference does to make to us(the readers). If she gets cold..she will put on a jacket. If she gets sick from not wearing a jacket, well, at least her parents make enough money to take her to the doctor without the tax payers having to pick up the bill for it..

- Karen on

Such a pretty little girl….

Not surprising to see the Sanctimommies hijack another comments section, lol.

* * *

Well, Christine, you are pretty sanctimonious yourself about fellow posters.

As someone pointed out, what’s so wrong in pointing out that a child is inappopriately dressed? She is inappopriately dressed.

Having said that, gorgeous photo.

- Manon on

JMO…I have to disagree. I think Suri is genetically blessed; a very pretty girl. Shiloh is cute too, but Suri is stunning. Just my opinion of course. =)

- gargoylegurl on

THE HAIR! THE DRESS! THE COLD! THE PRICE OF HER SHOES! THE SHOES! AAAAAH IT’S THE END OF THE WOOOORLD!

- elisa on

LOL, elisa! tee hee hee

- gargoylegurl on

Look she has pigtails in her hair…..

http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20311782,00.html#20688194

Still no coat so people will still have something to complain about but her hair is combed! (if you can’t tell I’m being sarcastic….I think Suri looks cute any time I see her…messy hair and all!) And my opinion of her cuteness has nothing to do with her parents being Tom and Katie…actually I think Brad and Angelina are more attractive then Tom and Katie but both couples had gorgeous little girls!!!!

- Kristi on

Suri hasn’t worn a coat in 2 years she is still alive so don’t worry about her

- kim on

So what if Tom says Suri doesn’t want to wear a coat? When its cold she needs to wear one, she’s only THREE Tom not twenty three! She doesn’t need to decide whether she should wear a coat in cold weather or not. If its fall or winter out and its cold which it is in Boston then she needs to have a coat on. My children will wear a coat when I tell them to even if they don’t want to, there won’t be an negotiating over it. If its cold weather they will wear a coat to keep warm and not just wrap a blanket around themselves.

- Amanda on

Bancie – depending where you are in Canada it is not colder than Boston. Toronto has quite similar temperatures and it isoftern warmer here than Buffalo, NY.

- canadiankoukla on

My 3yo loves her hair down too. We let her do that a lot even though it could use a ponytail or barrette. The jacket, we make her wear. It seems they could even put long sleeves under her dress but they don’t so oh well. Maybe Suri has sensory issue with things touching her, who knows. She looks a lot like Josh Hartnett in this picture.

- ritter on

jmo

I think both Suri and Shiloh are average looking children, cute but nothing special aside from being the spawn of A-list stars. They may be genetically blessed but phenotyp-ically they look like regular kids I see on the streets everyday. at least to me.

Having said that, I much prefer photos of suri with katie. All her photos with Tom look staged, staged, staged.

- Electra on

She needs a jacket. I’m entitled to my opinion. Don’t get your panties in a bunch because people opinons differs. Grow-up!

- Sasha on

Computerag, you’re right there is a difference: Tom and Katie can’t hear you and they don’t care. And there is a difference between making a comment to someone and “verbally assaulting” them. I was at a symphony performance at the Kennedy Center last winter when the woman behind me proceeded to sit down with her very fussy infant. I guess if I had said something I would have been the inappropriately assaulting her, according to you. Sometimes parents deserve to be called out on their ludicrous decisions, but I totally agree with Manbear – I would much rather see a kid with messy hair from PLAYING or one without a sweater than one that is dressed to the nines but allowed to run around like a holy terror.

- Kasee on

Haha Sasha I am dying with laughter that you told us to grow up because we told you to mind your own business, it is not your child, and Suri is evidently FINE. I highly doubt she was denied a coat if asked for one. Please don’t come on here trying to start arguments. You can keep those opinions to yourself, what a celebrity puts what on their kids is none of our concern. Be proud of yourself, you are the inspiration for post 21.

- Lauren on

What, precisely, do people think will happen to Suri if she plays outside in October without a coat on? It is not cold enough for frostbite or hypothermia. You don’t catch cold from being cold, you catch it from someone who has the cold virus already. I am sure if she were uncomfortable she would ask for a coat/sweater/blanket. My 3-yr old lets me know if she is too hot or too cold. She feels hot when I feel warm and she feels cold when I am really chilled so she is usually dressed less heavily than me. I only insist she wear a hat/coat/sunglasses when there is a real danger to her health.

- Paula on

Co-Sign that one Electra…100%

- Daisy on

Um, I live in Cambridge, near the river and Harvard Square. It was about 65 degrees and gorgeous last weekend, when these pics were taken. The sun was shining all day and there was very little wind. I sent my 2 yr old son out in his Keens with no socks and no jacket. If anything, Tom and Katie were overdressed with sweaters and scarves…

- Scooter on

I think Suri is stunning and look forward to seeing pictures of her in the years to come. She looks like she is having a blast in these photos!

- Alexis on

Suri looks so much like katie… looks like she got katie’s sweet tooth for cupcakes as well! To Cute!

- Lauren on

Wow…as she gets older she look more and more like her dad. Such a cutie pie!

- TonyaJ on

Seriously, all of you are sad! Make your freaking comment and move on..all of you going back and forth seem to be looking for an argument. Opinions vary, not everyone agrees…all that was said was why wasn’t she wearing a jacket…quit making a Federal Case out of nothing…my God! You know exactly who you are…the ones that have posted 3x or more..pathetic and down right depressing. Why don’t you address more serious issues..argue about something that matters..steer your passionate debates towards REAL issues :(

- Gabbadoo on

A hostess at a restaurant today asked me if my daughter would be “warm enough” outside in what she was wearing. She had on a long-sleeved footed sleeper (because she threw up on her outfit before we went inside and that was the “backup” in the diaper bag.) It was about 52 degrees out, and we had about 20 ft to walk to our car. I just told the woman, “She’ll be fine. She’s very warm-blooded.” I find it humorous, and annoying, that a stranger thinks they have a better idea of what is best for my child. I have spent every waking moment of time with her since she was born. No one knows her better than I do.

I would imagine the same is true for Tom and Katie. We don’t know Suri at all. They know her very well. Therefore, I think they would know what is best for her.

- finais on

Thanks to those that answered my question :D

Suri and Shiloh are both gorgeous and if I was to see them on the street and not know who their parents are I would definitely say the same exact thing. When your stunning or beautiful or gorgeous, you just are no matter who your parents are, famous or not.

- Bancie1031 on

for the people whinging she doesnt have a coat on it actually looks like the sun is out in the pics and it may not be a cold day there. Even in winter their are days that are warm and u get to wear a dress. Tho if she is mucking around like that with Tom Im sure she would be a little more confortable in a shorter dress or shorts but anyway Suri is beautiful and looks so much like Katie.

- Jen on

I agree that the first photo is amazing. They definitely should have that in their home.

-meream

- All Women Stalker on

Kids have thicker skin, as you age, your skin gets thinner. She’s just fine. When kids get cold, they let you know it, my 4 year old wouldn’t be running around playing, she’d be complaining about being cold.

- Rebecca on

Folks you’ll be happy to know Suri was seen spotting piggy tails today!!! Maybe Katie got tired of hearing about it!

- JMO on

Again…LAUREN, grow-up.

- Sasha on

Oh my gosh, Sasha, I am going to be so depressed now. An obnoxious and jealous stranger told me to grow up! Now how do you expect me to sleep tonight? LMAO!!!!!! You sound like such a fool.

- Lauren on

Lauren: how old are you?

- Manon on

Suri is very photogenic. While she looks really plain in some photos in others she is breathtaking. I also am amazed at the way she never seems to actually engage with her parents except if they are chasing her or so on. You never see her talking to them while looking them in the eyes, which given the sheer volume of photos taken of her makes me wonder about what type of relationship they have …but these are just musings…it might just be that the paps distract her every time she is snapped…but I just notice that compared to other celeb children like Honor Warren and Violet Affleck she has an odd interaction style..

- loopsy on

This little girl looks SO much like BOTH her parents :) Beautiful little girl.

- Sabina on

Well Manon, I don’t need to explain my age to you, considering the obnoxious comment you made to Christine earlier. It seems you are on the immaturity side, and now you are passing judgement to me!! I find the only way to deal with people like you and sasha is to be snide and sarcastic, you are apparently not on our level of thinking. When someone like Christine disagrees with you, you don’t have to retort with a rude little remark. Just get over it! The world does not agree with Manon. People seriously need to lay off of Tom and Katie. If my kids are going to refuse to wear a coat, or comb their hair, or wear shoes, or carry their blanket, or whatever else you can find to complain about, I am NOT going to make them scream to try to show that I am the one in control. Unless it is hazardous to their health, which in Suri’s case it is evidently not. Anyway, I am a grown woman, married with a family, and I can assure you that while I am not a perfect mom, I would never criticize someone without knowing what I am talking about. So instead of sitting here and talking about stuff you don’t know anything about, and being rude to other posters, go run along and pick on someone who actually cares if that’s what you have to do to feel better about yourself, because Tom and Katie don’t. Back to Suri, you obviously have a jealousy issue, and I can’t waste any more time with you, so please stop the little drama thing here.

- Lauren on

Just checked in and feel the need to intervene-in case you haven’t already realized, there is more than one Lauren posting on this thread! lol Just clarifying…

- Lauren on

lmfao that second photo…she looks so scared of scary Tom haha

What awesome photos of Suri and Tom. It’s great to get a glimpse of the type of Dad he is. You can tell, he’s a very hands-on Dad. Suri is beautiful!

- lruppert on

Suri is Beautiful. She is really starting to look like her dad. Fantastic photos!! I wish I had shots like these of my family.

There are a lot of people who know NOTHING about this age group and yet they have opinions. Uninformed opinions at that… :(

Cute pics, looks like they had a great day.

- taegan on

i love suri, she so cool

- sunday on

I’ll chime in here…
Suri is a cutie pie!!!
She looks fine to me without a jacket. If she told her parents she was cold, I am sure she would get a jacket. How do we know how long she went with out a jacket, it could have been only a few minutes. I love her $100 shoes and if I had the $$$ I’d buy them for my girls too. Why do average american’s feel the need to judge these celebs, they are no different than any other parent. They make silly parenting mistakes just like the rest of us. And lastly, I adore the first picture, that’s a keeper!

- hiptwinmama on

you can tell she’s a daddy’s girl. i really don’t like the dress to me she looks kinda awkward in it especially in the 3rd pic
