Isla Fisher and Olive: Playdate Pals

National Photo Group

Surprise! A barefooted Olive Baron Cohen, turning 2 next week, appears to spot something quite exciting indeed as she and mom Isla Fisher leave a friend’s house in Los Feliz, Calif. on October 3.

Olive is the first child for Isla and fiancé Sacha Baron Cohen.

Next up for the 33-year-old Scottish-Australian actress is the March 2011 animated flick Rango, costarring Isla’s fellow celebrity parent Johnny Depp.

Isla carries a pair of Disney Mickey Mouse Kids’ Cayman Crocs in Lime Green/Yellow ($30).

She just gets cuter and cuter!!!

What an adorable baby!

(Also, I believe she is named Olive Baron Cohen, as in a double surname).

- Rita on

I like the way she dresses Olive. Still cute but not overly frilly and always matching crocs.

- Jessica on

Cutey Cutey Cutey, so sweet and cuddly

Olive is an absolute cutie!!

- Allie-Rose on

Oh, what a SWEETHEART!!! I used to think she looked a lot like her daddy but she is the perfect combination of both parents.

- Kait on

She just gets cuter every time I see pictures of her! And she’s getting so big! I just love Isla and Olive, but really strange that you rarely see Sasha with them Olive is definitely my favorite celeb baby – she’s too cute for words!

- Me on

Olive looks like a little doll here. So adorable, and Isla always looks so happy with her.

- Lauren on

She is so cute! I think she is looking more and more like Isla

Rita–You are right; Sacha’s family name is Baron Cohen. However, when Olive was born, they did not announce her middle or last names, weight, length or any other details. I thought that was odd at the time. Now I wonder if they may have been avoiding saying that her legal last name is Fisher. Her parents are not married, and Sacha may not have formally acknowledged paternity or given her his last name.

#7–There were some pics a while ago on X17online.com of Sacha sitting in a car and reading to Olive while Isla bought some liquor.

shes a cutie! :)

They have been engaged FOREVER. They obviously feel no pressure to get married.

That was a very large leap. Your saying because they didn’t release personal details of their child that Sascha isn’t acknowledging paternity of his daughter. Interesting, I wonder how you came up with that.

- Jessica on

Oh, she is just adorable! Always been such a precious little chunkster! Love her mom and dad, too!

- Diva on

She is adorable! I love seeing pictures of her and Isla! I can’t believe she’s almost 2.

- Stephany on

I dont really understand the comments above – isnt it obvious its a double barrelled surname as its exactly the same as her dads?

Buy my point was Sasha is jewish and Isla was supposed to be learning the religion before they got married. Hence they have not got married yet because she has not completed her studies in to judaism. He has never denied Olive, he has just tried to keep her out of the limelight. For example when he was filming for Bruno he said they didnt go to popular parks etc, because of the extra interest in himself.

- Georgina on

olive is by far the cutest little baby!!

- cassie on

Georgina–Isla said in an Allure article that she converted over three years ago, before the baby was conceived apparently. That makes both Isla and Olive Jewish. Maybe he just doesn’t want to get married, but “not Jewish” isn’t the reason why.
As for keeping Olive out of the public eye, that may be Sacha’s preference, but Isla is frequently photographed with the baby in the usual places the paps hang out. (Check out the locations of most of the photos of Olive and other celeb babies on this blog, for example. Coldwater Canyon Park, the LA Farmer’s Market, certain high-end kids’ stores–I’d avoid those places if I were a celeb and didn’t want my kid photographed.)

She is getting cuter as she gets older. BTW, love Islas outfit.

Does anyone else think she looks a bit like a blonde Suri Cruise?

Olive is my favorite.. such a beauty!!

Anonymous, it was only a tabloid article i read, but i stated something like although she converted to judaism, she had to fully learn the teaching etc, so she could be considered jewish before they got married. I dont really know what exactly as im not jewish, but his parents are quite strict, and wanted a proper jewish wedding, with a proper jewish bride.

I read she was concentrating on the baby and then her career, and wasnt making the study sessions, etc, so they put the wedding back, and the Bruno happened, so its kinda fizzled out, because they’re doing just fine w/out being married.

Im not saying its true its just what i read, and as Isla was at all of the openings for Sascha’s films, i didnt think it was because of their relationship breaking down.

Sorry i’m in England, so im not too familiar with the place names, i just saw this said a friends house in this pic, which is something quite normal.

- Georgina on

Hi Georgina,

There were articles like that here in the States too, but Isla denied those reports in the Allure article. The reports that she had not “fully converted” were never believable to me. (I am Jewish.)A person can’t partially convert. She probably did a Reform or maybe a Conservative conversion. The assumption that she is attempting to do an Orthodox conversion to be some sort of “proper Jewish bride” is ridiculous. It’s rare to find an Orthodox rabbi who will convert someone so they can get married to anyone, much less a Kohen. (A Kohen is a descendant of Moses’ brother Aaron. They are often named Cohen and can not marry a convert in an Orthodox synagogue, just Reform or some Conservative synagogues.)
It appears to me that Isla has done what she can as far as conversion goes. They could have had a civil or Reform Jewish wedding years ago, but they haven’t. They can’t have an Orthodox wedding, so I find it hard to believe that that’s what they are waiting for.

- Anonymous on

Anonymous 11:00 am – Just because Sacha’s last name is “Cohen” doesn’t mean he’s a “Kohen” in the Jewish sense of the word… Thus, they certainly could have an orthodox wedding if they so wished (though I don’t understand why they would want to)

- Maya on

Thanks for the info, I was just a bit shocked about the leap from not seeing Sascha with Olive, to him denying her. I just thought he seemed like a lovely dad from the few times he spoke of her, but that he didnt like talking about her to the media. And also when he is in the media, with both Borat and Bruno, he was still being a character, not himself, so obviously his family wasn’t mentioned.

That was just what i read, but obviously its not correct, maybe they just dont want to get married at the mo? Either way Olive is a cutey pie. Shed make a good bridesmaid =D

- Georgina on

p.s i didnt mean to offend with the ‘proper jewish bride,’ if i came across that way i apologise, it was just a term of phrase to get the point across.

- Georgina on

Isla is the cutest : ) A real mirror image of her mommy, hair and all! So cute, I don’t see any of Sasha in her at all…

- Patrice on

Maya–I think he actually is a Kohen. One of the Jewish blogs reported a few years ago that he and his brother had bima honors and blessed the congregation at a Modern Orthodox synagogue in LA. But if he isn’t a Kohen, there is no religious reason for him not to marry Isla. In fact, I think that, given that a child is involved and whatever denomination that Isla converted in would regard both mother and child as Jewish, 99.9% of rabbis would encourage him to marry her.
Not trying to be argumentative, I’m just tired of hearing people blame my religion for their not being married.

- julie on

Hi again Georgina,

LOL at the bridesmaid remark. I hope it doesn’t come to that. No offense taken at the “proper Jewish bride” remark, but it was graciuous of you to apologise. Manners and blogs generally don’t go together. If I seemed to take offense, it’s because I’m sick of the tabs saying it’s because of religion when Isla says she’s converted. I just wanted to set the record straight.
BTW, I’m not the one who said that Isla and Sacha were breaking up or that Sacha’s never seen with Olive. I also did not say that he “denied her” or wasn’t a good father. I’m sure he loves her very much. I just commented that they never announced her full name (which I don’t see as private and personal information), and I wondered if it was because Sacha didn’t do whatever legal paperwork was necessary for the child to have his name. It might have been bit of a leap on my part, but he seems leery of making things legal. At least, that’s what a seven year engagement with a baby born two years ago says to me.

Nice talking to you. Take care.
