Meet Beckett Edward Packham!

Rita Rocks star and MADtv alum Nicole Sullivan is known for delivering laughs. But delivering her second son, Beckett Edward, on August 31st was a major reality check for the actress.

“I’m no spring chicken,” Nicole, who turned 39 in April, told Life & Style during an exclusive interview at her Los Angeles home. “I feel very lucky I got pregnant twice.”

Although she didn’t experience the same levels of nausea, sciatic nerve pain or insomnia that she did while pregnant with her eldest son, Dashel Pierce, now 2, Beckett’s arrival had its share of complications. Nicole had planned to give birth to the 8 lbs., 6 oz bundle of joy naturally, but the newborn was footling breech and had to be delivered by caesarean section.

With that successful surgery behind her, Nicole’s happily adjusting to being outnumbered by men, including her husband, actor and comedian Jason Packham, in her household. “It looks like it’s farts and basketball for the rest of my life,” she quips. “That’s the life I’ve been handed.”

Still, Nicole’s glad that rambunctious Dashel will have a partner to wrestle, play basketball and discuss LA Lakers stats with — in a few years, that is. Says Nicole, “I’ve had to explain to Dash a couple of times, ‘Even though you’re excited to see him, you can’t jump on the baby, you can’t leap on top of Beckett.’ Dash likes to hold him and kiss him. He thinks he’s really funny and just laughs at him.”

Any chance of expanding the Sullivan-Packham comedy troupe even more? “We always talk about adopting,” Nicole admits. “If we were to have a third, it would be great to adopt a girl. I’m not doing three against one. If I got pregnant, with my luck I’d have another boy.”

For now, Nicole’s just excited to get back to work on the second season of Rita Rocks, her Lifetime series. Her mom plans to baby-sit Beckett so that Nicole can visit him between takes, while Jason and a nanny take care of Dash.

“My costar Tisha Campbell-Martin gave birth to a boy a week after me,” says Nicole. “We’re going to have two babies on the set. It’s going to be really fun.”

Cloth diapers!!!! Awesome!

- Gabrielle on

I hated babysitting a baby with cloth diapers. That was no fun. lol

- Mandy on

A second yay for the use of cloth diapers!! We use them and love them even though I do all the washing myself. A celebrity has no reason not to, since they can afford the luxury of a diaper service! Good for Nicole on her sweet boys. I love their names too.

Dashell & Beckett are lovely together.

“farts and basketball”!!! So funny – so true!! Love her.

Beckett is a cute name but Beckett Packham is hard to say!

“If I got pregnant, with my luck I’d have another boy.”

There’s worse things than ending up with three healthy boys. Just saying.

- Megan on

Megan…haha had to giggle at your statement.

I have FOUR boys…and NO, I am not trying again for a girl. I’m done. Boys are very fun and “farts and basketball” along with baseball and bugs is my life.

Even my cat and dog are male…you would think I would feel outnumbered but in reality, I am the Queen of the house and treated so by my husband and sons. No complaints here.

- Sheilz on

Shellz: I totally get the “queen of the house” thing that comes with all boys in the family. I have two boys, my husband and a dog that’s a boy. I say all the time I don’t want a girl because this way I get to rule the roost. All my guys adore me b/c I’m a novelty being the girl, lol.

“Woo for cloth nappies!”??

How does the material on another babies butt bring excitement to your life?

I use cloth nappies.. but I don’t wet myself with excitement every time I do the washing.

- nikki on

Mandy, why did you hate babysitting kids in cloth diapers? All you have to do is put the diaper in the pail after changing instead of in the trash.

- Rebecca on

yeah for cloth diapers!

- kathryn on

nikki- Because cloth diapers are much better for the enviornment than disposables. Therefore, it’s great to see someone being green by using them! :)

Cute family!

- Alex on

BIZARRE…I have two sons also – my oldest, Dashel born in 2002 and my youngest, Beckett born in 2005 !! What are the odds that another family has two boys with the same names????
