What started out as a traditional neighborhood lemonade stand quickly turned into a money-making endeavor for Steve Carell‘s daughter Elisabeth Anne, 8, who found herself hitting the jackpot with her juice!
In a humorous appearance on The Jay Leno Show, The Office star admitted he was recently faced with his “first traumatic experience” when his daughter, after venturing out to sell homemade lemonade, returned a half-hour later with a bundle of cash.
“I figured she’d come back…with about 75 cents. She came back with $36 and I’m like, ‘What…what happened?’”
In true Hollywood fashion, none other than Billy Ray Cyrus — accompanied by the family dog — was among Elisabeth’s list of clientele. “As happens in most lemonade stands, Billy Ray Cyrus comes by…and drops $20 on a cup of lemonade — free cookie included!” jokes Steve.
While Elisabeth pocketed the $20, her stroke of luck wasn’t quite over! “Then the paparazzi who had been following Billy Ray Cyrus, they all came and bought lemonade as well,” he explains. “So, now we’re up to 30 bucks.” The final customers for the day? The Los Angeles Police Department.
“And then the police who were called to chase away the paparazzi circled back and bought lemonade!”
According to Steve, Elisabeth believes she has found her calling in the lemonade business. “Now she thinks she can do this for a living. She’s like, ‘Look at that!’” the proud papa laughs. “It was insane.”
In addition to Elisabeth, Steve and his wife Nancy Walls are also parents to John, 5. The Office airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
