Steve Carell's Daughter Hits the Jackpot With Lemonade Stand

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

What started out as a traditional neighborhood lemonade stand quickly turned into a money-making endeavor for Steve Carell‘s daughter Elisabeth Anne, 8, who found herself hitting the jackpot with her juice!

In a humorous appearance on The Jay Leno Show, The Office star admitted he was recently faced with his “first traumatic experience” when his daughter, after venturing out to sell homemade lemonade, returned a half-hour later with a bundle of cash.

“I figured she’d come back…with about 75 cents. She came back with $36 and I’m like, ‘What…what happened?’”

In true Hollywood fashion, none other than Billy Ray Cyrus — accompanied by the family dog — was among Elisabeth’s list of clientele. “As happens in most lemonade stands, Billy Ray Cyrus comes by…and drops $20 on a cup of lemonade — free cookie included!” jokes Steve.

While Elisabeth pocketed the $20, her stroke of luck wasn’t quite over! “Then the paparazzi who had been following Billy Ray Cyrus, they all came and bought lemonade as well,” he explains. “So, now we’re up to 30 bucks.” The final customers for the day? The Los Angeles Police Department.

“And then the police who were called to chase away the paparazzi circled back and bought lemonade!”

According to Steve, Elisabeth believes she has found her calling in the lemonade business. “Now she thinks she can do this for a living. She’s like, ‘Look at that!’” the proud papa laughs. “It was insane.”

In addition to Elisabeth, Steve and his wife Nancy Walls are also parents to John, 5. The Office airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

I remember my lemonade stands, this brings back my childhood! I just hope there was a chaperone with her! just saying, because not one was mentioned.

- g!na on

that’s so sweet of Billy Ray Cyrus… and while the paps are annoying to people, that’s great that they at least bought stuff.

And so sweet of the cops to also buy some.

Gotta be good to kids trying to earn their money!

- Kat on

Around here, the police would have cited her for selling food without a license. Seriously, they regularly shut down lemonade stands. (Not enough crime I guess!)

- Azure on

Azure – really!? thats so weird!

- mims on

aww what a funny and cute story. Of course its something that would only happen in Hollywood =P .
The other week i brought lemonade off a little girl, i think its so sweet when they try and make money.

- Sophie on

Cute story! I loved selling lemonade and Kool-Aid as a child. I think $5-7 was the best I ever did.

- Lacey on

LOL, now that will make for one awesome story in her life! It gave me a warm fuzzy to see that even the paps bought lemonade from her :)

- Harley on

Ah, nothing like having a lemonade stand when you are a kid. Brings back memories. I think all I got was 25 cents a drink…

- Joy on

That is the cutest story ever!

Azure (#9) – I was going to say the same thing. It’s really pathetic! A neighbor’s grandson and 2 of his friends were selling small birdhouses that they had made for school and they were fined around $1000 for selling them without a license on the corner. There was an editorial in the local paper about how the cop used poor judgment in that instance. If I understand correctly, it’s up to the cop on whether or not they want to fine the people or not.

That’s an adorable story! I was cracking up halfway through!!

- Sarah M. on

To Azure and Sarah M – wow that’s awful, surely the cops should see that this isn’t “real” trade it’s a few kids having fun and showing a bit of initiative… 1000$ fine??? That’s like plucking a stray hair with a lawnmower… total overkill and totally inappropriate.

- swisschick on

I am surprised You can even fine kids that much. In most parts of Europe the cops could possibly take you back to your parents and tell them not to let you do it again unless they are over 13-17 years (depending on country). A 1000$ fine seems like a gross over reaction.

- MiB on

Anyway, it’s a hilarious story, I’m sure it will become part of the family lore

- MiB on

Dude I want to live on a street where Billy Ray Cyrus stops by for lemonade!

- Shannon on

Only in Hollywood LOL. It’s a great story though.

- Mia on

LOL That’s such a great story.
