VTech Explore and Learn Helicopter: Fly The Friendly Skies

With so many ways to play with VTech’s Explore & Learn Helicopter ($16) for ages 12 to 36 months, your baby won’t get bored after just a few minutes. Like all VTech toys, it has a huge educational component and teaches babies and toddlers letters, colors, music and objects.

Since helicopters are all about the sky, the objects include a bird, kite and balloon. There are seven buttons little hands can push to activate the various features. And when you’re tired of the talking voice, switch it from learn mode to the musical mode for a variety of less-annoying songs.

The top of the helicopter is one of my twins’ favorite features. They spin it around to hear a helicopter noise. And because it’s on wheels they also love that they can drag it around with the string attached to the front or push it with their hands. But their favorite parts are the four colorful balls that they push in through the top and then pull out of the side of the helicopter. These balls have also become favorite toys for non-helicopter activities. They roll them around the house and clap them together.

So no matter what, I know that when I bring out the Explore & Learn Helicopter it will hold their attention long enough to let me tackle some dishes, feed the cat or just catch my breath.

Malcolm McDowell Seeking Stability for Young Sons

John Shearer/WireImage

Although Malcolm McDowell made his name in film, the 66-year-old actor says that his recent supporting roles on television shows like Entourage and Heroes have opened his eyes to the allure of the small screen. “It gets to the point where you’d rather stay home and just have a little more stability instead of going off [to film a movie],” the father of five explains to MoviesOnline. “It’s always weird.”

“I’ve got these young kids now, these boys, and they hate it when dad leaves. So, I have to explain it all, and there’s wailing when I get in the car to leave. It’s horrible.”

Malcolm is aware, however, that the tears are often short-lived! “As soon as I’ve left, of course, they’re on to something else,” he points out. “I know how that works.”

Taking the kids with him as he films on location isn’t always feasible, with the exception of 8-month-old Seamus Hudson. “[He] has to come because he’s being breastfed,” Malcolm reveals. “So he’ll be there asleep…Otherwise my wife won’t be able to come.”

In addition to Seamus, Malcolm and wife Kelley Kuhr are parents to Finnian Anderson, 2 ½, and Beckett Taylor, 5 ½; Malcolm and ex-wife Mary Steenburgen are parents to two grown children, Lily Amanda and Charles Malcolm.

LuMar Jr/JpegFoto/AFF

It’s a boy — a bit early! — for Tisha Campbell-Martin, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. The actress and husband Duane Martin welcomed son Ezekiel Czar Martin on Tuesday, September 8th at 10:20 a.m. in Los Angeles. The baby, who wasn’t due until the 21st of this month, weighed in at 9 lbs., 9 oz and is 23 inches long. Ezekiel joins big brother Xen, 8, at home.

“My baby is sooooo beautiful,” Tisha told ESSENCE.com. “He can’t fit newborn clothes; he’s wearing clothes for three month olds. His cheeks are so fat. He is so healthy. He is just perfect.”

Tisha, who announced the pregnancy in April, had no qualms about being pregnant at 40. “I’m enjoying it. I’m 40, and having a baby!” she told PEOPLE’s Celebrity Baby Blog. “Every moment, every nauseous moment, everything that is good and not so good about being pregnant, I’m enjoying.”

Tisha currently stars in Lifetime Television’s comedy series Rita Rocks, which returns for a second season on Monday, October 5th at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Jason Bateman Dishes on His FedEx Faux Pas

Antonie Brzostoski/INF

During a humorous appearance last week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, actor Jason Bateman spoke of a recent errand run with Francesca ‘Frannie’ Nora, 2 ½, gone horribly awry.

The daddy-daughter duo were on their way to the local FedEx when Frannie fell asleep in the back seat. “The car…it’s kind of like a rolling sleeping pill, like an Ambien with tires,” Jason noted. “I turn around, and she’s sawing logs in the back seat; Peaceful, beautiful, little bit of cute drool.” It soon became apparent that a difficult decision needed to be made! Jason explained,

“You don’t want to wake the monster up. When the monsters sleeping you let the monster lie.”

With the drop box in sight, the 40-year-old Arrested Development star made his move. “I rolled down all four windows and I popped the sunroof. I got out of the car, I set the alarm, [because] no one is going to steal my cargo,” he recalled, “I took the motion sensor off so that the alarm wouldn’t wake her up and give her a fright. I scurry into the FedEx, top speed, I see my slot, I pop my thing in there, quick!”

That’s when disaster struck, however — in the form of a long-lost friend Jason hadn’t seen in 20 years. “He’s like, ‘Jason! What’s going on?’ He takes a relaxed position, like we’re going to talk for 20 minutes,” Jason said. “I try to do-si-do to get to my car…It’s got to be 95, 98 degrees outside.” As the newly reunited pals played catch-up, talk inevitably turned to wives and children.

“I said, ‘You’ve got three kids now right?’ He says ‘Yeah, you’ve got one too, right? Are you with her?’ I said she’s in the car. He said, ‘Oh great, I can meet her then. I can meet your wife, too, right?’ I go, ‘Wife’s not here.’ We go to the car and [Frannie's] sleeping, she’s a sweaty mess. He looked at me like, ‘You’re still the same eff up you were 20 years ago.’”

FedEx trauma aside, Jason says that he’s been enjoying Frannie’s toddlerhood. “You can have the first year, I’ve got no time for the first year…Even the first half of the second year, it’s just garbage,” he joked. “They don’t reciprocate at all.”

“They’ll throw up cute every once in a while, but most of the throw ups and the screaming and the no sleeping…It’s no good. But now that she’s starting to really be fun, I’m having a good time.”

So — it seems — is Frannie! A die hard Dodgers fan, she even keeps close tabs on dad’s season tickets. “Every time I try to sneak out of the house to go to the game, she says, ‘Where are you going?’” he recalled. “I’ll say the Dodgers, and she’ll say, ‘Well, I want to go.’” After explaining that he doesn’t have enough tickets, Jason says that chaos usually ensues.  “So now she’s crying, and my wife is already upset that she’s letting me go to the Dodgers game, and now I’m leaving her with a bomb she needs to dismantle,” he joked.

Frannie is Jason’s daughter with wife Amanda Anka.
