Victoria Beckham Says Sons 'Bloody Well Will Work'

Courtesy Elle

When Victoria Beckham departed her native England for the sunny shores of California, she was greeted by many with sympathy. You won’t find the 35-year-old Spice Girl feeling downtrodden about the experience, however. “I love America,” she says in the cover story for the October issue of ELLE magazine. “It’s such a positive country.”

“When people say to me, ‘How long did it take for you to adjust? Poor you, it must’ve been really difficult’ — poor me? I’m living in Beverly Hills. I’m very, very lucky. I wake up every morning and I recognize that I’m blessed.”

She’s also working hard to make sure that her three sons with husband David BeckhamBrooklyn Joseph, 10 ½, Romeo James, 7 and Cruz David, 4 ½ — share her grateful outlook. To that end, Victoria says that laziness won’t be tolerated, promising that her children “bloody well will work…Same as myself, same as David.” She adds,

“They’re not going to be the kind of kids that just hang about. I want them to be able to fulfill their passions, but I think it’s important that the children grow up and have respect for themselves.”

The couple’s respect for their family as a whole has led them to limit the boys’ public exposure. Drawing an analogy between herself and David and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Victoria notes that “they might be in a movie together, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to let someone film them at home.”

“I don’t do ‘at homes’ with my family. I don’t march my kids down red carpets. It’s just not how we choose to do things.”

Even when it is she, herself, soaking up the spotlight Victoria says her thoughts are often elsewhere. “People think I’m a moody bitch,” she concedes. “I do have my insecurities.”

“Maybe that is why I look a little bit serious. The kind of person who’s going to stand on the red carpet and love the attention and have the big grin — I’m just not like that. I want to get in there, do what I’ve got to do, and get home to my kids.”

Heidi Klum on Her Hectic Household: 'It's Never Boring!'

Splash News Online

Following suit with other celebrity parents who have declared that the baby factory has been closed down, Heidi Klum is equally as determined that her fourth child — a girl due in mid-October — will be her last addition to her family with husband Seal.

While the Victoria’s Secret Angel notes that the day-to-day balancing act of raising three children has been tough, she tells Ryan Seacrest that the benefit of having her kids close in age outweighs the challenges.

“They kind of run in all different places at the same time so you only have so many hands, so it’s quite exhausting, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s great for them to grow up all together…it’s never boring in our house.”

That house, Heidi recently revealed, is one filled with plenty of clues that the kids have left their mark, with toys and stuffed animals strewn throughout the place. According to the expectant mama, ensuring her children are given as normal a childhood as possible despite their parents’ celebrity status has been the plan since the start. “We try to make [sure] they grow up with … our manners and [what] we believe in and the way we grew up,” she says.

Keeping them grounded, she explains, is easily done with frequent family vacations that often include the grandparents.

“We’re very family oriented. We just came back last night from our holiday, we were in Hawaii. Their grandparents came — my mom and dad. We’re kind of normal in that way…we’re very family people.”

Baby-on-the-way will join Leni, 5, Henry, 4 this week, and Johan, 2 ½.

Matthew McConaughey Looking Forward to Delivery Surprise

Karl Larsen/INF

From the Tour de France in France to the sandy shores of Southern California, Matthew McConaughey and partner Camila Alves certainly appear to be enjoying themselves as they await the birth of their second child.

The 39-year-old confirms as much in a new entry to MySpace, writing that “it’s been a great summer with some big news, a little travelin’ and a lot coming up.”

Indeed! Matthew notes that their baby-on-the-way is the “most exciting” news “above and beyond all” else, adding,

“Not sure if it’s a boy or girl but we have our instincts…what are you thinking?”

The couple’s firstborn — 14-month-old Levi — is “doing terrific waiting for his little bro or sis,” Matthew reveals. He’s also doing his part to keep mom and dad busy! “We had to super child-proof the new house because he’s motoring around like Usain Bolt and eatin’ like Kobayashi,” Matthew jokes. “Camila and I can barely keep up.”

In fact, the couple refer to their stealthy son as “the fruit bandit,” because “if there’s fruit out, he’s on it, takin’ it, and eatin’ it,” Matthew writes.

“He’s gettin’ bigger, more fun, smarter and craftier by the day.”

Matthew and Camila’s second child is due in late December/early January.

Caught Caring: Get Schooled

Celebrity Baby Blog – Caught Caring

Every 26 seconds a student drops out of an American high school, for a total of 7,000 dropouts each day. Only half of all college freshman will go on to earn a degree. And an overwhelming percentage of Americans now believe that the quality of education offered in the United States lags behind other nations, and that that education gap will negatively affect the American economy. It’s clear that a problem exists; The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have partnered with Viacom to offer a solution.

Get Schooled, a five-year initiative aimed at generating greater awareness of and engagement in our nationwide educational crisis, was unveiled earlier this week — and not a moment too soon, according to Bill Gates.

“We couldn’t be having this conversation at a better time. The education crisis is damaging our ability to compete in the global economy, and we need to do more to engage all Americans — from policymakers and corporate leaders to families and young people — in our efforts to support students in completing their education and achieving their dreams.”

Patrick Liotta/MeetTheFamous

Count celebrity parents Seal, Heidi Klum and Tichina Arnold among the engaged!

Each was on hand Tuesday at an education conference held at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles; As attendees, they were treated to a screening of Get Schooled: You Have the Right, a documentary featuring President Barack Obama and others which later aired across all of Viacom’s U.S. networks.

Their support is crucial to the goals of Get Schooled, which hopes to shine a light not only on low graduation rates in college and high school but also the accountability of teachers. Adds Bill,

“People should understand how the system is falling short today and how it really contradicts our commitment to equal opportunity. If we don’t change it now, it will hurt the future of the country as a whole.”

Heidi and Seal are parents to Leni, 5, Henry, 4 this week, and Johan, 2 ½; They expect a daughter in mid-October. Tichina is mom to daughter Alijah Kai, 5.
