Larry Birkhead: A Self-Proclaimed 'Corny,' 'Sensible' Dad

Courtesy OK! Weekly

The manner in which he became a single dad might have been unconventional, but Larry Birkhead is doing all he can to give 3-year-old Dannielynn Hope as normal a childhood as possible.

To that end, the daddy-daughter duo recently moved into their new home in Kentucky, far from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

“I just want her to be a kid and not worry about all the nasty things going on in this world,” he explains. “I’m her shield and that’s how it will always be.”

When asked by OK! if he loves fatherhood, Larry replied in the affirmative, noting that although “it’s hard work and time-consuming…it’s worth it when I hear her laugh.”

“All my friends are out in bars, but I don’t miss it. In fact, I’m morphing into my parents — I’ve become corny and sensible.”

Although Dannielynn is growing up without mom Anna Nicole Smith, Larry says that the late model and reality television star is far from a stranger in their daughter’s life. The two could be twins, according to Larry.

“It just happened in the last year,” he notes. “I have photos where they look exactly the same…She loves posing for the camera like Anna, too. And she’s going to be tall like her mommy.”

Speaking of photos, Larry says he keeps Anna’s on display throughout their home and Dannielynn, as a result, “recognizes [Anna] straight away.”

“She knows who her mom is — I make sure of that…I want to keep her mom and [her late brother] Daniel [Wayne Smith] in her mind.”

At the same time, Dannielynn has begun to question Anna Nicole’s absence from her life and Larry, 36, admits he doesn’t always have the answers. “She misses her mom so much,” he concedes. “Right now she’s at the age where she’s noticing that other children [on] television and in books have moms.”

“She said to me the other day quite seriously, ‘Where’s my mom?’ It was sad but I explained to her, ‘Your mommy is in the clouds and you’ll see her again one day.’”

Heidi Klum Says New Baby Makes Up for Body Changes

Courtesy Page Six Magazine

Many a pregnant woman has gazed down with wonder at their belly, and marveled at just how much their body has changed. For supermodel Heidi Klum, however, what happens postpartum is an equally marvelous sight.

“Just as it’s a miracle that you can grow a human being in your belly, it’s a miracle that your body goes back to normal again,” she notes in the cover story for the first quarterly edition of Page Six Magazine, available now.

It’s something the 36-year-old Project Runway host is no doubt reminding herself of in the closing weeks of her fourth pregnancy. “It’s hard when you don’t fit in your things anymore,” she concedes. “The last month is unbelievable, how rapidly your stomach goes.”

“The thighs, the butt — everything explodes in the end…It’s bizarre.”

The baby she expects in mid-October — a girl — will more than make up for it, however. “I don’t think you ever get back to exactly the way you were, but you do get close,” she says. “I’m happy with that. Especially when you see your kid for the first time.”

Calling husband Seal a “gentle giant,” Heidi said she is looking forward to incorporating her newest daughter into the couple’s ever-growing brood. “If you come to our house in L.A., you’ll see that it’s not a big, museum-like house where you can’t touch anything or sit anywhere,” Heidi goes on to explain. “It’s a family house, where three children are living. We have toys all over the place.”

Baby girl will join big siblings Leni, 5, Henry, 4 tomorrow, and Johan, 2 ½, at home.

Albert Michael/Startraks

Karolína Kurková shows off her pregnancy progress while attending the launch of Observer Playground, a new magazine for city moms and moms-to-be, held at the DNKY Boutique during Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday in the Big Apple.

With the model, 25, due to deliver her son in the next few months, has she decided on a name for her baby boy?

Not yet, Karolína says, although she’s receiving some help from mom!

“I want her involved, it’s her first grandchild,” the Victoria’s Secret Angel notes. “She’s like, ‘What about Maximilian? Bruno? Sebastian? Hector? Guido?’ I always tell her I’ll put it on my list.”

So, any hints for us? Unfortunately, no.

“You’ll find out when he’s born,” teases Karolína. “We’ve narrowed it down.”

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz on Her Son: He's 'the Best Part of Everything' I Do

Courtesy Redbook for use on CBB

There’s no convincing Ashlee Simpson-Wentz that greener pastures await her later in life.

“It’s always, ‘Thirties is the ideal age.’ Then, ‘No, it’s 40s!’ I guess I don’t have an ideal age. I like to live in the moment,” she reveals in the October issue of Redbook.

While the 24-year-old singer/actress may not spend time ruminating on her age, she recognizes that life has been that much more special since giving birth to her first child last year.

“It’s kind of fun because I have a child and I’m at a place where I get to reboot and do something new,” she notes.

“Your 20s are a great time to explore and a great time to have a baby. [My son] is the best part of everything.”

Relishing her new role as a mother, Ashlee and her husband Pete Wentz have happily settled into a familiar routine since the birth of Bronx Mowgli, now 9 ½ months.

Fortunately for the couple, the transition into first-time parenthood was particularly smooth — a result, Ashlee says, of the nine months of pregnancy.

“The great thing about being pregnant is…it really does prepare you,” she explains. “Your body is changing and it’s an amazing time to feel that connection.”

According to the proud mama, feel that connection between mother and child she did! Counting herself among the “lucky” ones, Ashlee has only fond memories of both her pregnancy and delivery.

“I didn’t mind at all,” she admits. “I think being pregnant is so beautiful. I had the best pregnancy and I loved giving birth. It was just the most amazing thing, so surreal but so real.”

In fact, she cites the nine-month span as one of her peak periods of physical fitness.

“Being pregnant was the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. Except for the cupcakes.”

Click below for another photo, Ashlee’s thoughts on Pete as a dad and whether or not she’d like a big family.
