Caught Caring: (RED), Bugaboo and Kelly Rutherford

Celebrity Baby Blog – Caught Caring

Gap went (RED). So did Starbucks. But for the first time ever, a brand has gone completely (RED) — and that brand is Bugaboo. Instead of designating a certain product or products (RED), the stroller maker-to-the-stars will be donating 1% of their total revenue to the Global Fund to help fund AIDS programs in Africa with an emphasis on the health of women and children. The contribution begins with all sales taking place after October 1.

Moms who want to show their support more overtly may purchase a product from Bugaboo’s new Special Collection, in stores on the first of October. Among the options are a new Bugaboo Chameleon stroller with dark denim fabric, black matte frame and a distinctive red hand brake handle ($1,029; available at multiple retailers), a TREASU(RED) Bugaboo Bee ($600; exclusively at Neiman Marcus), an ADO(RED) tailored fabric and accessories set ($165; exclusively at Giggle) as well as a white diaper bag available in leather ($230) and canvas ($130).

Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford and 2 ½-year-old Hermés Gustaf Daniel — himself a Bugaboo Frog devotee! — were on hand Saturday at the New York City launch party for the partnership, and both mother and son liked what they saw. “I am a big fan of my Bugaboo stroller for its beauty and function,” Kelly raved, “and I am proud to be a part of the Bugaboo (RED) launch.”

For Bugaboo, the decision to join forces with (RED) was easy. Madeleen Klassen, chief marketing officer for Bugaboo International, says that the Amsterdam-based company was eager to play an active role in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa; The mom-to-mom aspect of the contribution — with funds being directed towards those programs that will help reduce mother-to-child transmission of the disease — is something they hope will resonate with customers. “Now when you go with Bugaboo, you can make good things happen,” Madeleen notes.

U.S. Open Champ Kim Clijsters: 'Anything is Possible'

Juan Soliz/Pacific Coast News

When Belgian Kim Clijsters defeated Caroline Wozniacki last night to claim the women’s singles trophy at the U.S. Open, she became the first mom to emerge victorious at a Grand Slam event in 29 years.

The historic significance of the win was not lost on the 26-year-old former World No. 1, mom to 18-month-old Jada Ellie.

“I hope that I can inspire a lot of other women who are willing, or hoping, to [return to work] but maybe don’t know the way to start or are insecure about starting,” she told CNN after the match.

Kim was quick to point out, however, that she couldn’t have achieved her new-found success without the support of husband Brian Lynch and others.

“I really believe anything is possible but it is a family affair. I also need help from family and people around me but it’s a great feeling to know that I can combine the sport that I love but also be a mum as well — it’s great.”

Having only recently emerged from retirement — the tournament in Flushing Meadows was just her third tournament after a two year hiatus — Kim admitted that the results exceeded her wildest expectations.

When she stepped away from the sport due to nagging injuries in 2007, she says that she considered the move permanent.

“[Coming back] wasn’t something I was planning on doing,” she said, “but obviously I have done well and obviously it is a great feeling to have.”

“During those two years off I maybe hit the ball two or three times and a few practice sessions with my friends – in fact it wasn’t even practice it was just fooling around. So to be in that position to decide that I wanted to do more than play exhibition matches was a big decision to have to be made, but right now it definitely feels like the best decision.”

Bronx Wentz Gets the Giggles

So sweet! Bronx Mowgli Wentz giggles at dad Pete Wentz as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz looks on Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif. The trio hit the park, playing in the sandbox (Bronx practiced his crawling) before heading over the playground equipment, where Bronx, 9 ½ months, worked on his staying upright!

“[Pete] is a great dad. So sweet and loving,” Ashlee recently told Redbook. “When you see the dad with your son, it’s a whole new side of them. Just beautiful.”

Seventh Generation Baby Products: Great for Babies With Sensitive Skin

My husband and I began using Seventh Generation baby products because we wanted whatever that came in contact with our 17-month-old son’s extra-sensitive skin — whether it was diapers, wipes or the clothes he wore — to not be a potential irritant to his delicate skin.

Julianna Margulies Dishes on the 'Mama Bus'

Splash News Online

Boys will be boys! During a recent visit to The Late Show with David Letterman, Julianna Margulies revealed that her son Kieran Lindsay is “very obsessed with buses” and generally “anything that goes.” He also, of course, loves his mom — so imagine Kieran’s delight when the two were recently combined!

Julianna explains that in the course of promoting her new series The Good Wife, CBS has taken out numerous bus advertisements … and the first glimpse of the ad left Kieran, 20 months this week, nearly speechless! “He went, ‘Bus…Mama?’ the actress recalls before adding,

“Now he’s kind of used to it. Now it’s like, ‘Mama, bus. Mama, bus. Mama, bus.’ My sister said, ‘Do you think he thinks that every kid has a mama bus?’ It’s just normal.”

What remains a mystery to Julianna and husband Keith Lieberthal, however, is their son’s pseudo-German accent. “He’s obsessed with bicycle helmets, which he calls hookahs,” Julianna, 43, explains. “I don’t know why…He’ll be in the stroller [yelling] ‘Mama, hookah! Hookah! Hookah!”

Quipping that the couple never employed a German nanny, Julianna conceded, “We don’t know where the German came from.”

The Good Wife premieres September 22nd at 10 p.m.
