A.J. Langer: Daughter's Instincts Were Right About Baby Brother

Peter Kramer/Getty

If there was anyone more excited than A.J. Langer and Charles, Lord Courtenay about the birth of their second child, 4-week-old Jack Haydon, it was their first child, 2 ½-year-old Joscelyn Skye.

“She was very into the whole process and gave my belly millions of kisses as it grew,” A.J., 35, tells Breezy Mama. “We talked about her baby brother/sister and if it would be a boy or a girl –- her first guess was a boy with blue eyes like daddy –- so far it looks like she was right.”

“She came to midwives visits and we talked through the whole deal. She was always interested and excited about the baby. She was very involved with all the preparation and was great company throughout.”

Happily, Joscelyn’s enthusiasm hasn’t waned since baby boy went from being an abstract idea to an actual person. “She loves him and is amazingly patient with him,” the former My So-Called Life star proudly reports, though Joscelyn is “not necessarily so patient with mommy!”

Both kids’ names hold great personal significance for the couple, in a variety of ways. Joscelyn was a name from Charlie’s family tree, though it was a boy name and was spelled with an ‘i’ instead of a ‘y,’ while Skye was after the Isle of Skye, a place the couple vacationed shortly after they began dating. Jack, meanwhile, is Charlie’s maternal grandfather’s name, while Haydon is “a beautiful forest near the castle in Devon — it gets completely blanketed in bluebells once a year and is breathtaking,” A.J. shares. She adds,

“We didn’t decide on the names until we had a chance to meet them. We had lists of girls’ and boys’ names and then when they were born we took our time to settle on the right ones.”

Jenna Elfman Envisions Her Life As a Stay-At-Home Mom

Alexandra Wyman/WireImage

It’s all in a name and while some parents agonize over the endless options for baby-on-the-way, Jenna Elfman and her husband Bodhi can count themselves among the lucky ones: the couple chose their son’s name before they discovered they were expecting!

“Frankly, we knew we were going to try and conceive and a month before we even started — it took, like, one time — Bodhi turned to me and said, ‘Story Elias Elfman.’ I said, ‘Done, love it,’” Jenna tells the Los Angeles Times.

“We have an Elias in the great-grandfather territory on my husband’s side. It was also Walt Disney’s middle name, which my husband is a huge fan of. And stories — nothing better than a great story.”

The name game wasn’t completely smooth sailing for Jenna and Bodhi — the actress laughs that before settling on the moniker, she crossed quite a few suggestions off the list!

“He did come up with a few names before that made me go, ‘What are you smoking? Absolutely not.’”

Relishing her role as mom, Jenna cites spending time with her baby boy as her greatest joy. “It’s my most favorite thing in the whole world,” she reveals. “Not that spending time with your kid is an indulgence, it’s a responsibility, but it’s like indulgence in terms of shirking other responsibilities.”

To that end, despite her successful acting career, Jenna occasionally finds herself yearning for a life as a stay-at-home mom. “Back in the day, that was a woman’s job: to maintain the house and raise kids, and raise them well,” she says.

“That’s actually a real duty because you’re preparing a human being to live a life. You can’t not be there. Feminists are going to hate me, but I get a little wistful wishing I could do that.”

Next up for Jenna is the season premiere of her CBS show Accidentally on Purpose on September 21st at 8:30 p.m. She and Bodhi expect baby no. 2 in March.

Elisabeth Röhm Cuddles Her Cutie

Scott Downie/Celebrity Photo

Elisabeth Röhm scoops up her daughter, 17-month-old Easton August Anthony, at Saturday’s premiere of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

As a mom, Elisabeth says she focuses on “being in the moment” with her daughter, rather than on milestones.

“I think you can spend so much time saying ‘I can’t wait until they walk, I can’t wait until they talk, I can’t wait until they do this,’ that you are not really with them right there. A child is a gift.”

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs hits theaters Friday.

Easton is wearing a babyGap dress from their summer collection.

Matt Damon 'Relearning' the Differences Between Boys and Girls

Hot Shots Worldwide/Splash News Online

As a father of three girls, Matt Damon is clearly in touch with his feminine side. At no time is the 38-year-old actor’s “testosterone deficit” more apparent, however, than when he is spending time with his brother.

“I sit there and play princesses with my daughter, and I never told her anything about a princess, ever,” he noted during a recent appearance on Late Show with David Letterman. “Whereas I go to my brother’s house, and he’s got two boys…I walk in the front door, and I instantly get punched in the nuts.”

“You know, we’ll call each other…he lives in Boston. He’ll say, ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ [I'll say] ‘I’m playing princesses, man, what are you doing?’ He’s like, ‘I’m in the emergency room again.’ They know him there. [He'll say,] ‘The older one hit the younger one in the head with a guitar. It was an accident.’”

Because he grew up without a sister, Matt admits that he often finds himself in uncharted territory. “It’s great, but it’s really different…so I’m kind of relearning everything,” he explains. “I mean, boys and girls are just different. A lot of people have written books about this; I’m not telling you anything you don’t know.”

Matt and wife Luciana are parents to Gia Zavala, 13 months, Isabella, 3, and Alexia, 11. His new movie The Informant! hits theaters Friday.

The Wentzs Make Pet Purchases

Fame

Petco run! Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz brought along son Bronx Mowgli (and pal Woody!) for a quick trip to pick up some dog supplies on Wednesday in Studio City, Calif.

The couple was also spotted playing at the park with their baby boy last week.

Bronx, 9 ½ months, “cracks himself up all the time,” Ashlee says. “It’s cute. It’s very entertaining. He’s like, ‘I am so funny!’ And he probably gets that from me because I make jokes that are not funny, and I’m the only one laughing.”
