Jeff Foxworthy: Kids Want 'All Your Time'

Entertainment Press/Splash News Online

Quantity or quality? For comedian, television host and dad-of-two Jeff Foxworthy, the answer is clear. “As a parent, I’ve found out that kids don’t want ‘quality time’ with you, they want ‘quantity,’” he tells PARADE. “In fact, they want all of your time.”

Although “interaction and communication” are important, Jeff says that “just your presence there in the house means the world to them.” To that end, he recently put his theories to the test with daughters Jordan Lane, 17, and Julianne, 15.

“I asked my girls, ‘Would you rather see me once a week and we go to Disneyland, or would you rather just have me here every night?’ And they said, ‘Every night.’”

Determined to chart a different course than his own father who “left at an early age,” Jeff says that he’s turned down roles because they would take him away from home. “I’m not going to give away one of my kids’ summers,” he explains. “I do my career around them.”

“I’ve always taught them that the most important things in life aren’t things — they’re relationships with your family and friends. People who just have things aren’t very satisfied, but people who have a lot of relationships usually have a pretty happy life.”

The life lessons go both ways, however. “They have given me a small glimpse of how God must feel about us,” Jeff says of his girls. “You know, your spouse is capable of doing something where you wouldn’t love him or her anymore, but your kids aren’t.” Although “it doesn’t mean you don’t get angry or frustrated with them,” Jeff  adds, “but you cannot not love them. They’re an awesome gift.”

Jordan and Julianne are Jeff’s daughters with wife Pamela Gregg.

Ashley Jensen and Jenna Elfman: Preggo Pals

Michael Tran/FilmMagic

Having a pregnant buddy in the office is always a plus, even when the office is a sound stage. Moms-to-be Jenna Elfman, 37, and Ashley Jensen, 40 — costars on the upcoming CBS sitcom Accidentally on Purpose — have found a kindred spirit in each other over the past few weeks and months, Ashley tells OK!

“I was asking Jenna for advice on a daily basis anyway because she’s already had a child, so now, we’re going through it together,” she explains.

“One day on set she had a little wave of nausea, and she was like, ‘I don’t feel very well,’ so I had to go up and get some little saltine crackers and pretend they were for me — because nobody else knew at the time.”

The show tells the story of an unplanned pregnancy, and while Jenna’s baby-on-the-way appears to have definitely been planned, the show will mirror real life in other respects. “The first season will end in the birth, and that’s how it will be for me, too,” she notes.

The question of whether her real life bump will outpace that of her character remains to be seen, however! “I’m showing so much more this time, much sooner,” she concedes to Us Weekly. “I look way farther along than I am, so that feels different.”

“I’m like, ‘Am I going to plateau, or is it going to become humongous?’ I don’t know, we will see. It will be an adventure!”

An adventure Bodhi Elfman will happily accompany her on. Of her husband of 14 years, Jenna raves “he’s a total dream,” adding,

“Before bed sometimes, or in the middle of the night, I’ll be like, ‘I need orange juice!’ so he’ll go get it.”

Jenna and Bodhi’s baby-on-the-way — whose sex the couple will learn prior to delivery — is due in March, and will join the couple’s 2-year-old son Story Elias at home. Ashley’s baby-on-the-way — a delivery surprise — is due this fall and will be the first for her and husband Terence Beesley.

Accidentally on Purpose premieres tonight at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

Expectant Gisele Bündchen's New Role: UN Goodwill Ambassador

INF

Gisele Bündchen has a new gig: United Nations goodwill ambassador in a field that’s very familiar to her — the environment.

“I’m really honored to have received a call from the UN to spread the message about climate change in the world,” the supermodel, 29, told reporters during an appearance in Manhattan’s Washington Square, where her new position was announced Sunday.

Casually dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, Gisele, who is expecting her first child with husband Tom Brady in December, displayed the slightest of baby bumps at the event, where she discussed what inspired her activism.

“I started paying attention to what was happening with the environment when I had a visit to the Xingu area of the Amazon in 2003. I spent a week with an Indian tribe and everyone was complaining they were getting sick because the waters were polluted,” she said.

“All these pesticides were going into the rivers because there were no trees to protect the rivers. The fish were sick. The water was polluted. I was like, ‘Who is doing something about this?’ “

She decided to take action, blogging her green tips on her Web site and creating a charity, Agua Limpa, whose aim is to plant trees along the Amazon to help purify the water. Now, she’s joining forces with the United Nation’s Environmental Programme to spread the good word.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better childhood,” Gisele said. “We must act now, so future generations have the same opportunity. Mother Earth is our fundamental life-support system, and by becoming aware and responsible now, we can assist in preserving the planet.”
