Katie Holmes and Suri: Errand Run!

Christopher Peterson/BuzzFoto

Katie Holmes brought daughter Suri along for her errands on Tuesday afternoon in Boston, Mass.

After stops at Crate & Barrel and DeLuca’s Market, Katie took her purse-toting 3-year-old to play in a park along the Charles River before heading back to their hotel.

The Holmes-Cruises are currently in Massachusetts while Tom films his latest movie, Wichita, due out next year.

Suri wears J. Crew Crewcuts Salina Safari Patent-leather Ballet Flats in Chocolate Camel ($98).

Suri looks gorgeous here!
btw I think her shoes are from j crew http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/CrewCutBrowse/Girl_Shop_By_Category/shoes/flatsmoccasins/PRDOVR~97302/97302.jsp my daughters have the same!Presumably much more comfortable than the heels she wore a while ago.

- Cheryl on

$98 for a pair of shoes for a 3 year old??????

- aurora mia on

Very cute duo!

- Melanie F. on

#2 – What difference does it make when you have that much money? I would totally buy my kids nicer clothes if I had the money to do so. To them it’s like spending $5 dollars at a discount store.

I wonder if they’ll ever have another baby?

- Shawna on

That is not a custom made shoe. There are hundreds of other 3 year olds wearing that shoe. enough with the criticism. They can afford it. Its not an isolated thing. There are expensive baby closes bought and won by babies of rich families all over the world. you don’t have to bring it up every time!!!

- stam on

Are people really going to complain about J.Crew? That’s a nice and normal brand!! Well made for the price, I love to shop there for myself and my kids. Suri is adorable.

- Brandi on

Awww…I love her little shoes!! My daughter’s 14 – and that’s totally something she would’ve worn at Suri’s age!! So stylish :)

- mandii on

It is only 60 degrees today in Boston- why does she have Suri in a tanktop? Jacket anyone!

- Deb on

I had no idea J Crew sold $100 kids’ shoes. That was my only shock, lol. Let people spend whatever they’d like on their kids. I just thought J Crew’s clothes were a little bit less pricey, but maybe not?

- MZ on

Sorry, I’m with Aurora. I don’t know how anyone, no matter how rich, can spend that kind of money on a shoe a kid will outgrow in 6 months. Doesn’t really make any sense to me.

Now, as for Katie and Suri, I think they look great! Suri’s little top is super pretty, and I am digging the striped leggings! She is such a pretty little girl, I love seeing pics of her!

- Shannon on

spening $98 on a 3 year old is no different than me spending $200 on a pair of soccer cleats for my 14 year old. as long as i can do it, i will :)

- marilyn on

If people truly have qualms about spending so much on childrens’ clothing, that’s fine. What really irks me is the insanely blatant bias certain posters have towards some children and not others. Violet Affleck regularly wears Splendid Littles, Little Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, and other designer labels, yet the only comments on her posts are about how “normal and down-to-earth” she and her parents are (meanwhile, Jen’s carrying a $1550 Valentino or Lanvin bag). Yet whenever Suri wears anything other than Gap, whether it’s Juicy or J.Crew, her parents get crucified for spoiling her. I wear all of the aforementioned labels because I love clothes and budget for them so that I can indulge without overspending. The aforementioned families clearly do the same. Certain posters need to stop dancing around the real issue-that they like certain celebs and not others. Because saying the Cruises are “so out of touch with reality” while bowing down to Garner for being the most normal of normal when she carries purses that cost 1k and a half and lives in a $15 million-dollar mansion is a joke.

- Lauren on

Wow, you people are absolutely hopeless. It would not matter if Suri was wearing a paper bag, naked, or wearing a parka, you would find something to complain about. Her shoes are too expensive, oh my gosh she has no shoes on, dressed too warm, she looks sloppy, too much pink, etc, etc. To be spending your time nitpicking a 3 year old is not only sad, it’s wrong. Shame on you. I think a beautiful child like Suri is always beautiful, no matter what it is wearing! Hope the rest of your miserable day gets better and you can grow up, it is not your child, who cares??? Oh and by the way, being down-to-earth has nothing to do with expense, it’s all about how you carry yourself!

- Miranda on

$98.00 for shoes is not really a lot, especially when your rich. anyway suri is so gorgeous, great hair and eyes, and even dressed casual, she always looks great

- gianna on

@Deb, I looked it up and according to the weather reports it was 69F yesterday, not the nicest but that is also not cold either. Then again I am from Manitoba Canada and once we get -5C(23F)we run around with no coats.

- Jaclyn on

Were you exactly where they were in Boston at the exact time they were? I don’t think so, so you technically don’t know if she needs a jacket. And about the price of the shoes who cares! It’s not like Katie doesn’t have the money to buy them. And it’s not like they’re $1000.00. Anyways, I love how her leggins match her mom’s shirt! Cute!

- Brooklyn on

Suri is TOO FREAKIN CUTE!!!!!!

- Jasmine C. on

Cute! Love the outfit. *goes to look if they still have the shoes for my daughter* They look pretty durable and the quality of Crew Cuts has always been decent.

There are other photos of Suri and Katie from this day – with people around them wearing shorts, so I’m guessing it wasn’t 60 degrees when the photo was taken.

And I totally agree with Lauren.

- Brianne on

On the coat thing…I totally feel Katie’s pain! My 3 year old will not wear a coat!!!!! Its sooo frusturating…and makes me look like a bad mom when out in public. Well…she better come around some time…cause winter is coming and we live in Maine!!!!

- Megan on

and…if this photo was taken yesterday or the day before…it was gorgeous weather in Boston….no coat needed.

- Megan on

Lauren – I agree.

- Tess on

I go to school in Boston and my campus isn’t far from the Charles. I wore shorts and a t-shirt yesterday, no problem. It was sunny and pretty warm out compared to how it had been the few days before. Her top was probably fine.

I feel like most 3-year-olds have enough of a vocabulary to say when they’re uncomfortable so I don’t understand the outrage about her clothing. If she’s comfortable and happy in what she’s wearing and it’s within reason, it doesn’t seem like a big deal.

- Lauren on

If I was Katie Holmes, i would buy my daughter more expensive shoes hahaha

- Mariel on

ugh at least she isnt in high heels today.

- Electra on

Yay!!! Cute shoes on Suri!! I want them :)

- nan on

Hmmmmmm, don’t know, but over here in Europe almost ALL shoes for young children are around that price (€70)… Meaning, they tend to be adapted to little feet, hence avoiding foot/back problems in the future…

- Emma on

Jeez, Lauren and Miranda, put the claws away! I never said I had a problem with Suri, in case you didn’t notice, I said ANYONE. Read some other Suri posts, I am usually one of the rare people defending their choices to the people who really are tearing apart a 3 year old. I didn’t nitpick anything in that picture, I complimented them! I think the shoes are ADORABLE, however I can’t understand why people would pay that much for something that will be worn and outgrown in less than a year. I truly don’t get it. There was no need to post angry comments like that. No one on here said anything about them being out of touch with reality, no said anything critical toward Suri (or even her parents for that matter!). There was no need to tell me to grow up or say shame on me! That was downright rude. As far as the purses and homes go, if someone has the money and wants to spend $1500 on a bag or $15 million on a house, or even spend a lot of money on adult clothes, I have zero problem with that. That’s thier life, good for them that they can do that! I just don’t get it when it’s on clothing that a child will either trash or grow out of within a year.

- Shannon on

Shannon, the point is, it is none of your business how much Suri’s parents spend on anything for anyone. It is their money, and you should not worry about it!!! Bottom line. It DOES sound like you need to grow up, the way you are talking. No one said anything rude to you!

- Miranda on

Maybe when Suri does grow out of her clothes they will be donated to some charity or a needy child. Tom and Katie support charities so I don’t think this is a stretch. I won’t assume that the shoes are a waste of money. Suri probably won’t be the last to wear them so I doubt they’re just going into the trash.

- Josie on

i think she is adorable! if i could buy those shoes for my 15 month old i would in a heartbeat..lol..for now we are sticking with gymboree

- beckycarter on

I just bought a pair of $42 shoes for my 9 month old…call CPS on me now! ;-)

- Noelle on

Suri is such a pretty little girl!

I love how her leggings match Katie’s top :)

- Patricia on

Miranda, read your first post again.

“Wow, you people are absolutely hopeless. Oh and by the way, being down-to-earth has nothing to do with expense, it’s all about how you carry yourself!”

So in one post you said hopeless, sad, wrong, claimed I was nitpicking a 3 year old, was having a miserable day, I can grow up, shame on me. Did I miss anything? Sounds pretty rude to me. I never once said it was my business what they spend. I was commenting on the price of the shoes IN GENERAL. I made no comment anywhere saying I thought they shouldn’t buy the shoes. I said I don’t understand why they would. BIG difference. I never said anything negative about Suri or Katie, or Jen or whoever else was mentioned. I simply said I don’t get it. I even mentioned that I have zero problem with them spending the money if they have it. Why on earth are you jumping all over me?

- Shannon on

wow Katie looks so great here-rejuvinated. I am so glad was getting worried for her about whatever was making her look so worn out.

- April on

$42 is less than half of what the other shoes were, and that certainly seems reasonable.

- Shannon on

This is what my daughter would be wearing if I could afford it! She looks adorable!

- MomtoB on

Great. Now that you’re done being uber-defensive with Miranda, Shannon, want to get in on me and point out where in my post I was addressing and talking to you? Last I checked, there were other posters on this site besides yourself. The world does not revolve around you, much as you seem to think it does. Maybe a little less self-absorption on your part would make you less defensive. Feel free to have a hissy fit about that “insult” once you’re done fuming about the first ;)

- Lauren on

Actually Shannon my comment was not directed at you alone, but I stand by what I said! Anyway as I said, you are rude! Enough said!

- Miranda on

Aww, they match! That’s cute.

- Summer on

Look at her with her own little handbag. Definitely a girly-girl.

-meream

- All Women Stalker on

I think Suri looks adorable and is such a pretty child. My only remark on the shoes is a personal bias; I am a Mum with 5 little girls who has trauma about good, supportive shoes. I obsess about foot support for proper growth. I recently spent $65 per pair of shoes per child. I am less imaginative and certainly less wealthy than Katie Holmes and celebrity mothers :-) . I exclusively purchase Aster Chaussure t-strap shoes for my girls. I prefer nice sturdy brown shoes. My 3 year old Georgina took wildly to a pair of red shoes and was so cute in them, I *almost* purchased. But alas for Georgina, I did not. Someday, I am sure tales will told by my girls about horrid old Mum!

- ARRA on

Okay so Alex, I think the problem here is that you are upset because you know what I said was TRUE. All people want to do is complain about this and that, they never have anything nice to say, and I am annoyed, frankly. You want ironic? Look at posts 12, 27, 28, and 34? And I am the only one ranting. Rotfl!!!!

- Miranda on

Just Jared has a bunch of pics of Jennifer Garner and her two girls in Boston yesterday at an apple orchard. And gasp, they are all in short sleeves!! Hopefully we’ll have a post with a pic on that soon….wonder if anybody will comment on Jennifer’s clothing selection for her kids. I think its safe to say odds are strong that it won’t even come up.

- Madison on

Katie and Suri both look great! I love how they’re outfits match …. Love Suri’s shoes as well :D

- Bancie1031 on

Miranda you are complaning about people complaning that is to funny.

- Jenny on

Looks quite a bit like Dad to me in that picture!

- Debra on

I agree with many of the posters here. Spending $100 on a pair of shoes for a child is absolutely ridiculous. Especially since they won’t even be able to fit into them in a few months. I’m sorry but I guess I just don’t have the mindset of “if you can afford it, buy it”. This isn’t a jab totally pointed at Katie. I guess hearing that she spent so much on shoes just made me think about the ridiculous things celebrities spend their money on when they could use that money and put it toward a greater good. For the price of that one pair of shoes, a needy family could eat for a month. Just my two cents.

- Elizabeth on

Okay, Alex, you are EXACTLY why I say people need to grow up!!! I will do what you have not: Say what a charming and adorable little one Suri looks like! After all, that is what this post was for!! I honestly think that she could wear anything and it would be adorable! My telling people to not worry about how other people spend their money (which I now see was a total waste of precious time) has nothing to do with “wanting my way”. ??? A little confused, but anyway, I guess you should probably relax and unwind this evening, probably by yourself? Sounds like your day has been difficult!! Sure, I am not saying people should be positive all the time, once again something you just made up, but would it hurt you to be positive just once? Meanwhile, I am going to go greet my husband who will be returning home from work, and thanks for a good laugh! And yes, I will “bid you good day”. After all, you are the one who needs it most.
PS You are complaining about me not letting others have free speech, and what about MY free speech? Hmm, guess you should think a little bit before you post!!

- Miranda on

omg, love those shoes! I wish I could afford them for my daughter, but we’re soo gonna get knockoffs @ Payless haha.

Suri is the prettiest celebrity child, just gorgeous. Glad Katie looks rejuvinated, she was looking really tired for awhile. I guess filming on location, working long hours and chasing an active 3 year old takes its toll on you.

- Mary-Helen on

I always lol when people complain about celeb kids having clothes that are expensive. They have tons of money, do you expect them to get clothes from garage sales? If you have it why not, I know if I was wealthy, my kids would have thousands of dollars worth of clothes. What would you rather them spend their money on? And when is it somebody else’s place to tell people how to spend their money?

Then again, people also complain about Shiloh having casual ‘boyish’ clothing.

- Erika on

I like Suri’s outfit for once. This is exactly how my 6 year old dresses herself. Tights not pants, ballet shoes and sleevless tops. And she hates clothing/long sleeves…just like Suri! I think Katie should spend more time on dressing herself than on Suri…she’s a beautiful woman and she always look sso drab and unhappy! Get your groove back girl!

- freebreeze on

i know Katie and Tom have more money than imaginable, but she is always shopping!! It’s really not good for the environment, collecting all that stuff, all the time. Maybe she buys lots of gifts. Suri looks adorable, as always.

- jas on

OMG I agree Shannon, Miranda and Lauren need to take major chill pills! My thought about the shoes is they don’t look like comfortable, good for playing in shoes. I hate when my 7 year old students wear patent leather shoes with no socks becuse they moan and complain all day about the blisters they have and they are terrible to play in.

- Linda on

Suri is cute, but most kids are at that age. Shiloh, Violet, and all the rest. Their parents all love them dearly and that is what counts. Not what we think.

- dani on

Tom makes 20 million dollars a picture. I’m pretty sure we could combine everybody’s salary on this site and quadruple it still wouldn’t be as much as the Cruises make. This leads me to believe that nobody cares whether she’ll trash them or grow out of them soon, but maybe people are jealous they wouldn’t be able to afford $100 shoes for their precious 3 year-old. JMO. What really makes me angry is when 5 year-olds are wearing $60 Jordans when their mother is on gov’t assistance or when 7 year-olds are wearing halter tops and booty shorts with wedge heels. That is ridiculous, not Suri wearing CrewCuts.

- Jessica on

Madison- No, we will not be seeing those pictures of the Affleck girls here. Jen and Ben’s reps requested that CBB/PEOPLE take a break from posting paparazzi photos of the girls, which they have respected.

Josie- I couldn’t agree more! Why do people always assume that Suri’s clothes will be thrown away after she’s done wearing them? They could, as Josie said, donate them to a charity after Suri’s outgrown them. They also could very well be saving Suri’s clothes to use as hand-me-downs if they ever have another baby girl. Could someone please explain why everyone seems to think Suri’s clothes will be history once she outgrows them?

Anyway, I also want to point out that Suri won’t neccesarily outgrow thnose shoes in six months or even a year. I, for example, rarely ever actually outgrew shoes as a kid. I almost always wore them out before I ever outgrew them (and it often took two or more years before the shoes wore out). I’ve always had tiny feet, and they simply didn’t grow very quickly. What’s to say Suri isn’t the same way?

It also makes me chuckle that people complain about Suri being dressed clothes that are so expensive…yet at the same time complain about the Jolie-Pitt kids being “sloppily” dressed.

- CelebBabyLover on

Oh, and how do we know that Katie bought those shoes for Suri? For all we know, they could have been a gift from either the company (we all know how celebs get gifts from companies a lot) or a friend or family member.

- CelebBabyLover on

She is a true fashionista at the tender age of 3! I LOVE her shoes! Do they make them in a ladies size seven?!!!!

- Marissa on

Katie sure spends a lot of time shopping. Suri must be the most bored child on the planet.

- freebreeze on

I would like to point out that we are not 100% sure if Katie bought the shoes at that certain store, there are a lot of stores who could have made the same shoe and sell if for a reasonable amount.

- QueenB on

I buy my daughter shoes & clothes that cost as much as a celebrity child’s (I am in the London,UK)

I am buy no means rolling it cash but you know what? I sell my daughter’s outgrown clothes on. That way a little princess gets the use of a designer outfit, it is good for the enviroment and for me that “pricey” designer outfit becomes affordable!!

I don’t for one moment think the Cruises do this (I agree with CelebBabyLover about them probably going to charity) but this is an option for those of us not earning thousands. I have seen Jessica Alba’s daughter clothes on charity autions to purchase.

If pre-loved isn’t your thing then buy new and sell them on. It just goes to show people should be a little bit more opened minded about everything in life and shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

- sarah in the UK on

There wasn’t this much angst when she had her custom made loboutins. Its j crew. Millions of kids have these shoes? Just spent the same on a pair of crewcut boots for my 3 year old son. Guess you can add me to the list of crazy people.anyway, just as obvious the great suri fans are out so there was no doubt this post would be full.

- brannon on

Seeing that Katie is in a T-shirt it can’t have been cold when the photo was taken, she always has an extra sweater on.

- MiB on

OMG! Suri’s not in a skirt or a dress… hehe i just remeber an interview with tom about how she wouldnt eve put on pants. they are both so pretty. i cant wait to see how beautiful Suri gets as she get older.

as for the price of the shoes… who cares.

- Lauren on

People live within their means. If they shopped at wal-mart people would complain how cheap they are! They make millions, they donate to charity, who cares how much they spend on shoes.

- Jessicad on

Katie looks really good here!!! Very healthy and normal.

- Sarah on

Katie and Suri both look adorable in this picture.

Love the little J Crew ballet flats.

They make millions of dollars so they can afford to pay $100 for a pair of kids shoes!

- jane on

not sure if this has been said or not but her dress is crazy 8 so probably around $25 who cared how they spend there money…im guessing most everyone on here wouldnt want to have tell people what they spent every last penny on. i spent $50 on a dress for my 15 month old yesterday and i dont feel bad about it at all and we dont make near the money they do considering i stay home and my hubby teaches high school social studies

- beckycarter on

Did anyone ever happen to think that Suri’s clothes probably get donated as soon as she outgrows them. Katie certainly seems like the type of person who would do that. So it will be someone else’s good fortune that Katie pays 100 buck for shoes that will be outgrown in 2 or 3 months.

- Jenn on

freebreeze- Or maybe she actually enjoys shopping! :) Also, we need to remember that we seen only a tiny fraction of the Cruises’ lives. Suri probably gets to do lots of fun “kid” things too. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

she looks so pretty!!
if they can affoard it why not wearing it!!

- marypy on

Good grief, can no one read? I did NOT say she shouldn’t buy them. I never presumed to say she should NOT let her daughter wear expensive clothes, or that they shoulnd’t spend thier hard-earned money however they want. It’s their money, their lives, they can buy whatever they want. I just don’t understand why someone would. I don’t understand what makes a pair of kids shoes worth that much money. Gosh! 71 comments bashing someone for doing nothing wrong. Thanks!

- Shannon on

Well, Shannon maybe it was because you came across kind of hostile and obnoxious. You criticized every single person who did not agree with you. You have to realize that everyone thinks differently and you cannot be so closed minded. Of course that is going to make people confrontational.

- Miranda on

Miranda the only person I criticized was you and Lauren, because if you go back, with an open mind, and read posts 12 and 13, you’ll see that you both put in quite a few putdowns, over something that really wasn’t a big deal. In my original post, number 10, I simply said I don’t know why someone would spend that. I didn’t say they shouldn’t or that it was any of my business. I then complimented the 3 lovely ladies in the picture. And then 2 and 3 posts later was torn apart for an innocent comment. I was called names and put down heavily by you, as I pointed out in my post 33, which is the only reason I said you were being rude. I repeatedly have tried to make it clear I was not insulting anyone, I was simply of a different mind, and did not understand why someone would want to spend that. Everyone on here got all up in arms saying it was none of my business, and I agreed with that many times. I never said it was. I am so tired of people misreading, or not finishing a post before they post a bunch of angry, uncalled for diatribes against one person who has an honest, different, non-offensive opinion. I did nothing hostle or confrontational until you yourself felt the need to post something ranting against the 2 innocent posts that were made about the shoes. At that point, I felt the needs to explain myself, which I did while still trying to be respectful. And again, you slammed me for that. I am not going to continue to defend myself to someone who, for some reason, regardless of the fact that they don’t know me, feels the need to rip me apart and refuse to actually try to understand what I was trying to say.

- Shannon on

And this really is quite a ridiculous topic to get into a big fight over, isn’t it? I mean it’s a pair of shoes. Now, I think everyone should just hold hands, start up a campfire and sing Kumbaya. You with me?

- Shannon on

Shannon- I was a bit bothered by your inital post as well, as I thought you were unfairly (especially since we have no idea if Katie actually did buy the shoes, or if she was gifted with them) critcizing Katie for buying those shoes for Suri.

However, now that you’ve explained yourself, I understand, and I’m sorry people jumped on you for that comment.

I’m definently with you about holding hands and singing Kumbaya!
