Angie Harmon Sympathizes With Stay-at-Home Moms

RD/Dziekan/Retna

Angie Harmon has already said that her little girls have husband Jason Sehorn “whipped,” but it looks like he’s not the only one.

“I’ve always sort of looked at stay-at-home moms and been like, ‘Oh gosh, how on earth do you do that? It seems so boring!’ There is not a boring moment!,” Angie, 36, exclaimed to PEOPLE while hosting the Huggies Big Mover Shoe Auction to raise money for the charity KaBOOM.

“I’ll be in the car for four hours, just from taking them to school and someone forgot a lunch and then we got to go back with the project, it’s just amazing to me. I’ve really been enjoying that.”

Angie, who delivered the couple’s third daughter, Emery Hope, last December, says that between the 9-month-old and daughters Avery Grace, 4, and Finley Faith, 5 ½, she and Jason, 38, have all but given up on romantic time for now.

“It’s funny, we held hands the other day and it was so odd that it wasn’t a little hand, that it was a hand bigger than mine,” laughs Angie.

“We’re literally just like, ‘All right, great game, see you in the showers!’ That’s kind of it right now — we’re outnumbered. They try to take over as much as they can, it’s us against them.”

And her eldest daughters couldn’t be happier with the latest addition to the family: for them, Emery is just one more toy to play with.

“They treat her like she’s a doll, so it’s a bit alarming at times, but it’s really been very easy,” says Angie. “They love her. We didn’t have any of the jealousy.”

Wow that baby’s got some eyebrows!! Too cute!

I don’t like this “us vs. them” attitude. I don’t believe that kids try to manipulate us and monopolize their parents’ time. They just love and need their parents.

Angie and Jason have the most adorable little girls.

Being a SAHM is anything but boring! I’m glad she said that. That kid is cute, but she does indeed have some strong eyebrows!

- Gigi on

that is hilarious about not having romantic time..i feel that way with only 1!

I must be one of the few SAHMs that has boring moments sometimes! There are days when there’s nothing to do, the kids are playing quietly on their own, don’t want to disturb them, don’t want to clean and nothing’s on tv.

I know what she means about thinking it would be so boring – until you’re the one doing it. I justposted about stay at home mom stereotypes and that is just the kind of thing I meant. Thanks for posting!

Cassie, I have one as well and there’s barely any time to get romantic…When there is, my husband and I are too tired but we manage (lol)…

We always laugh about the time my DH asked my SIL (who had 3 boys under 4 at the time) how she wasn’t just dying of boredom. Spoken like a man who’s never been at home all day alone with the kids!

Once you have three, its no more man on man defense – you have to play zone! Its a whole NEW world once the parents are outnumbered! Im one of the ones that didnt like being a SAHM, sorry!

Although it was nothing but boring while my kids were home, now it is BORING AS EVER since school started up again. Andrew is 12, Jacob is 11, and Matthew is 9. I have Epilepsy, which does not allow me to work or drive (doctor’s order’s). I’ve been a SAHM since Jacob was 2. Every day, I’m re-arranging SOMETHING in the house, and it’s driving the hubby up the wall. I just tell him, “Hey, I’ve got to entertain myself somehow, right?” He just laughs and agrees!!

I love how real a parent Angie seems. You really get the sense she is nuts about her girls and being a mom. Sometimes, with other celebrities, you see these pictures and you get the feeling the kids have just been plucked from their nannys to stand by their parents side for a photo. I remember when Angie’s first daughter was born and she and her husband were on some magazine with her. She was dressed in a onsie. So simple. She could have dolled her all up, being in a magazine and all, but you could tell they just thought their baby was perfect the way she was. It was so un-Hollywood, so sweet! I appreciate her comments about stay at home moms. What she said sounds like a day in my life!

Kay- It was probably PEOPLE magazine. I remember reading an article about then-baby Finley (the oldest of the girls) in there several years back. I don’t remember the pictures, though. Does anyone have a link to the pictures of Finley in just a onesie?
