Jenna Elfman 'Highly Recommends' Motherhood

Kevin Brooks/AdMedia

Recently announcing that she is expecting her second child with her husband Bodhi, actress Jenna Elfman has found her niche: motherhood! “Being a mom is the most amazing thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” the 37-year-old tells PEOPLE TV.

Completely head over heels for her 2-year-old son Story Elias — “I really love my son,” she gushes — Jenna admits watching her “happy and active” little boy leaves her feeling satisfied.

“It’s the most rewarding thing ever. I highly recommend becoming a mother.”

Jenna’s new show Accidentally on Purpose premieres Monday, September 21st at 8:30 p.m. on CBS. Her and Bodhi’s new arrival is due in March.

I cant wait for her new show to start tomorrow. I have missed seeing her on t.v. All new babies in the world are a blessing. Have the 4th Callen. I would if I was you. :)

Love it!

That is adorable: “I highly recommend becoming a mother.” I love that! I hear too many people tell me not to have kids that it’s refreshing!

Not a big fan of jenna elfman. I also don’t like when women tell other women they should have children because they feel it’s right for them. Apparently, motherhood is not for all women otherwise child abuse, murder, neglect and abandonment would not be around. Please Ms. Elfman, stop praising something that you feel all women should pursue. It isn’t for everyone. I’m glad you are happy being a mom. Not all of “regular” women can afford to hire nannies, cooks, etc to help raise our children. Like many. I have to work to support my family and it isn’t all fun & games.

callen, i’d say have the 4th :) if you guys are happy together and think you can afford another. why not? it truly is something very unique having a child and i hope to do it as often as we can manage. we’re on 5 currently but definitely going to expand. nothing has made me happier. but that’s just a personal choice. to each their own.

Raelyn, she is not saying you HAVE to become a mother. She is just highly recommending it because she loves it so much. I’m sure she understands that not everyone wants to become on or simply can’t.

- Laura on

Laura- Exactly! She never said “All women should become mothers”, or anything like that. Just that she RECOMMENDS motherhood. And she’s also not saying that motherhood is all fun in games. All she said is “It’s the most rewarding thing ever”. :)

“It’s the most rewarding thing ever. I highly recommend becoming a mother.” well, i just had to have a hysterectomy, not all women are able to have kids. As much as i would love a child it wasn’t possible! adoption has been hard.

Raelyn: cranky much? You are totally twisting her words. She never said motherhood is for everyone and its always fun and games. Its just coming across as if you are jealous.

Tina and JM. Thank you

Well said Raelyn! Hearing Jenna, and other women, say motherhood is “the most rewarding thing ever” gives the impression if a woman is not a mother whatever she does is not as good or as rewarding as being a mother.

I guess I’ll just stop researching a cure for cancer, eh.

eternalcanadian, i would say for me, motherhood is the most rewarding thing ever. and there’s nothing wrong in saying that because that’s just giving my personal experience. it’s an opinion like saying chocolate is the best ice cream flavour ever. i really think there is no need to be sensitive about that because she was just stating what her experience had been. if for you, your job or whatever else is the most rewarding thing, then that’s great. wonderful in fact. you’re allowed to have a different opinion, but there’s nothing wrong in someone being enthusiastic about their own life choices and explaining what the experience has been like for them.
i don’t think anyone’s saying that your life won’t be rewarding if you don’t have kids…
