Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream: Soothing and Safe

09/16/2009 at 10:00 AM ET

You won’t need a lot of Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream ($10/1 oz. tub) to protect or soothe raw breastfeeding nipples.  I ruined my expensive nursing bras with a less expensive and stickier nipple cream that felt like and acted like glue!

Made from 100% organic and natural ingredients including marshmallow root, calendula, olive oil, shea butter and beeswax, it doesn’t contain lanolin which is derived from sheeps’ wool like many other salves. However, it does contain beeswax so it’s not vegan.

It is totally safe for the nursing baby to ingest and actually smells quite nice too. I have very sensitive and dry skin and could not have survived nursing for the first few months without this salve.

It also makes a nice gift for a first-time mom who plans on nursing. And you can use it as a diaper cream too!

IMO, this is the best nipple cream ~ I love it! Plus it lasts a long time.

Indeed the best nipple cream. Not a fan of sticky lanolin.

Works great when pumping too. Tip: use enough so skin/areola doesn’t stick to the horn but not too much that the horn slides around.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
