Kim Clijsters Celebrates U.S. Open Win

Back in the rankings at no. 19, previously unseeded Kim Clijsters celebrates her U.S. Open win in Times Square with husband Brian Lynch and their daughter Jada Ellie, 18 months.

The Belgian tennis star, 26, heads back to her home country today, but plans to return to the States soon — she and husband Brian, an American, recently purchased a home in New Jersey.

Of her win, the first for a mother at a Grand Slam event in 29 years, Kim said,

“I really believe anything is possible but it is a family affair. I also need help from family and people around me but it’s a great feeling to know that I can combine the sport that I love but also be a mum as well — it’s great.”

Goof for her, we need more women like this to be setting examples for our children. I bet she wans’t making the classic mother excuses not to work out, “I don’t have the time or money”

Kim’s younger sister Elke is due with her first child anyday now, so I think that’s why Kim is headed back to Belgium.
