Mary-Louise Parker: My Kids Aren't Going Into the 'Biz'

As a pot-dealing mom on Weeds, Mary-Louise Parker‘s character is faced with a variety of ethical dilemmas. But luckily for Mary-Louise’s children, off-screen, the mom of two knows right from wrong.

“My character’s the worst parent, but I guess she’s doing the best she can with what she has,” Mary-Louise tells new magazine Observer Playground.

“It’s not an example to follow, I can say that much.”

Single mom to William Atticus, 5 ½, with ex Billy Crudup and Caroline ‘Ash’ Aberash, 3, adopted in 2007, Mary-Louise knows her priorities rest with family first, before work and even dating.

“Even though I would love to have dinner with this person or this person, it’s not as important to me as putting my kids to bed,” she says.

Though linked with actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan earlier this year, the actress is now single, and focused on her children first.

Though Mary-Louise began her acting career as a teen, she hopes her children won’t follow in her footsteps — at least for now.

“They aren’t going into any ‘biz’ while they’re children,” she says. “Show business is still a business and those children are still working, essentially. I believe in working, but not working when you’re a child!”

You should see the Weeds promo ad as well, Mary’s body is smoking!

That’s a bad photoshop job. Someone needs to sharpen their skills.

Anyways, I love her she’s seems nice and like a good mommy.

i was at the photo shoot – that picture is not photoshopped! it may be hard to believe, but it’s true – that’s HER body! and she rocks!

Dont know why Jess said that? It looks very natural and belivable, not one of the “fake airbrushed” covers we are used to.

She is beautiful!

oh, isn’t her forehead photoshopped? I know she usually has a huge vein in her forehead…perhaps it is more promenent at different times.

I hope when I hit my forties I have a body like that! So jealous :)

Kind of an odd question, but this is something I’ve been wondering for awhile….Is Mary-Louise’s full first name actually Mary-Louise, or is Louise actually her middle name, and she just uses it as part of her stage name?

Lyss Stern, the photoshop might not be as bad as other magazine covers, but I do not believe that this the is the photo as it was taken. All magazines photoshop/airbrush their photos.

MLP is a wonderful actress. FYI, it was early 2008 when she was last engaged to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, they split up then. Anything since has been as friends only.

Bella Mama on

she looks great :)

Why is she dressed like that on the cover? In her underwear while painting? Strange.

CelebBabyLover – I think Mary-Louise is her first name; since it’s hyphenated, I think that’s the case. Like Mary-Kate Olsen.

@Anna – oh of course there was a little touching up here and there—I was just saying it’s not her face on a double’s body—that’s all her own hot mama stuff!
