Roger Federer's Greatest Title Is 'Dad'

Roger Federer may be the world’s top tennis champion, but when it comes to changing diapers as a first-time dad, he says he is still capable of a double fault.

“Thank God nobody is judging me on it,” Roger told PEOPLE at a press conference Monday following his victory over Spain’s Tommy Robredo at the U.S. Open in New York. “It’s hard! But I’m still trying to be good at it.”

The Swiss pro, 28, and his wife Mirka Vavrinec Federer welcomed identical twin girls Charlene Riva and Myla Rose on July 23rd in Switzerland.

Off the court, the tennis ace takes his daddy duties in stride and tries to enjoy every moment with his babies.

“It’s been a lot of fun being a father and spending time with them,” he said of his 6-week-old twins. “I’m hands on as much as I can because everyday is something new and something different. I don’t want to miss anything.”

The 15-time Grand Slam champ says “Father” is definitely his greatest title.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be called a dad,” he said. “I take a lot of pride in that title.”

What a nice photo of such a talented man. I am sure that he is a loving and devoted father. Maybe those twins will be tennis champs too.

I absolutely love him. I met him in Cincinnati (well we spoke twice and he shook my hand after he won lol) and he is such a sweetheart. So cute. Good luck the rest of the way Rogi!

Roger, please let us see how your beautiful babies are growing and changing by posting an updated photo of the 4 of you. It is wonderful you take pride in doing things with your daughters yourself instead of handing it over to hired help, even with the US Open and other tournaments since they were born. Mirka is a beautiful woman, I am sure they will inherit nothing but beautiful genes from the two of you, watch out Dad, the boys start coming around earlier and earlier!

Actually Donna, they do have a baby nurse to help, at least during this trip, but that doesn’t mean he can be an active parent when he can (as a former nanny, it really annoys me when people think a parent can’t be active or hands on just because they have a nanny or baby nurse!). But I agree, I have always had a soft spot for Roger Federer and it’s lovely to hear updates about Myla and Charlene. Best wishes to the whole family.
