Idina and Taye at the Summer Soiree

Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty

She’s less than a month away! Idina Menzel receives a little belly love from husband Taye Diggs at InStyle‘s 8th Annual Summer Soiree, held Thursday at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif.

Idina, 38, and Taye expect their son on September 6th, and although they have the nursery ready, they’re waiting on choosing a name.

“We have a couple [names] in the running,” Taye, 38, shares. “But part of us wants to see what he hits us with when we see him. We’ll see what he looks like.”

Jumbo Blocks: Just Like My Son's Favorite Blocks… but HUGE!

My 4-year-old son Finn has become a builder, and when I presented him with Jumbo Blocks, he couldn’t get the box open fast enough. Soon we had a veritable fortress in our living room, complete with two clear, plastic windows!

Jumbo Blocks — as seen on TV! — come in bright colors and three sets that sell for $90 to $320. The big blocks are easy for tiny hands to put together and take apart, and they’re sure not a choking hazard! They are made in the USA and the smallest set contains 54 blocks ($90) and is big enough to make houses for stuffed animals or garages for toy cars. The website even includes instructions on how to build the castle shown above.

They’re not inexpensive but they’re super-durable and will last and last. They’re easy to clean, fit easily back into their box and can be played with outdoors with no problem. We’re definitely fans of Jumbo Blocks for rainy days!

Gavin Rossdale Dishes on Zuma's First Birthday

Flynet

The first birthday party for Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale was a team effort by his proud parents Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani, and an all-nighter at that!

“I got home from the studio and was cooking burgers at 3 a.m. this morning to prepare for the party,” Gavin tells E! “I’m the chef, and Gwen’s more of the party planner. She takes care of the presents and the guests. I just love to cook for everyone.”

As for the birthday boy’s presents, Gavin predicted that big brother Kingston James McGregor, 3, would offer up a dinosaur, or some other gift “he can play with, too.” Also on the list was “a lot of little trucks” and “squeaky shoes.” Of the latter, Gavin adds,

“Zuma likes squeaky shoes. We just took him to get a pair the other day. He likes when they go ‘squeak, squeak, squeak.’”

After the party Gavin, 43, said he would be busy preparing for Wednesday’s free performance at The Grove in Los Angeles — and hinted that it might not be a solo outing! “I know Kingston wants to join me on stage,” he joked.

Katey Sagal on the 'Self-Sacrifice' of Motherhood

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage

Playing a mom onscreen has never been much of a stretch for Katey Sagal, for the 55-year-old actress is a mom-of-three in real life.

Whether it was portraying Peg Bundy on Married With Children or Gemma Morrow on Sons of Anarchy, Katey says that her own experiences have informed her take on both characters — even though she often had difficulty relating to both. Peg “was devoted and loyal to her children in her own wacky way,” Katey notes, “But Gemma is intensely dedicated to her family and would do anything to protect her son and her extended family, which is the club.”

While in her own life Katey says she doubts that she would “go to the lengths” that Gemma does, she does say she’d come “close.”

“Being a mother has been my greatest teacher and also the most self-sacrificing thing I’ve ever done. I’ve never loved anybody the way I love my children. It’s an experience I was surprised by. You have your boyfriend, your husband, your friends, but it’s a different thing. It’s deeper, and it’s a fantastic — and risky — commitment to love that deeply.”

Although she always considered herself “a maternal type,” Katey says that “everything was different” once she welcomed Sarah Grace, 15, Jackson James, 13, and Esmé Louise, 2 ½. “Your whole perspective on the world changes,” she explains. “I love how I wasn’t so self-obsessed anymore!”

Sarah and Jackson are Katey’s children with ex-husband Jack White; Esmé is her daughter with husband Kurt Sutter.

Season two of Sons of Anarchy debuts September 8th at 10 p.m. on FX.
